How about that. I guess I'll toss a few in the pot:

Wilbur from Mr. Ed was Scrooge McDuck and I'm sure everyone knows that Dr. Huxtable's dad was Panthro.

They really should use a different word since tires do already rotate! Maybe tire switcheroo?!

why would it not make sense to move the tires around to ensure even tire wear?

Took me the longest time to realize that there was only 1 Stanley Cup that goes to the winning team for a couple months and then back to the NHL HOF. I probably could have guessed that, seeing as I don't remember a team ever displaying one in their arena, and whenever they do, there are massive lines to take pictures with it...but I never really paid enough attention to the NHL until the last two years.

If we're talking about cars...

I found out not too long ago that the D and R stood for Drive and Reverse.

My dad always said "put it in D" or "put it in R" when he was teaching me how to drive an automatic and I always thought in my head why is it not an F for Forwards and a B for Backwards. Then I drove a manual for years that didn't have any D or R, just numbers and I what I thought was a B for Backwards (but it might have been an R with part of the letter rubbed out looking back now)

Awhile ago, I pointed this out to someone thinking it would be helpful to have an F and a B, and they filled me in that they didn't randomly choose the letters D and R.

Well when I park I put it in neutral and lift the E brake

oh and the E for E brake comes from the sound the car makes when you pull it at high speeds "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

i guess i learned this a bit ago, but when working with a plumber I heard him refer to the plumbing beneath a toilet as a 'pee' trap. I never really understood it until an actual license plumber informed me that it was a P trap because of the shape and is found under more than just a toilet

I knew this but had to inform my boss that the little arrow on the gas gauge is pointing to the side of the vehicle that you fill it on. He kept asking me what side the gas was on when we made a trip down to sc for some work.

I don't have anything that I just learned, but i will share a fact that I've noticed a lot of people don't realize:

GI Joe (the cartoon) and Transformers (also the cartoon) had the same music. Not theme songs, but during the course of the show, during scenes and stuff.

also speaking of ba baa black sheep and the alphabet song

got into a massive argument with most recent ex about "What Child is this" being the same melodically as "My Favorite Things" and "Greensleeves"

she did not believe me at all until I played them all in a row and was like "SEE"

Until I saw the movie a few years ago, I had no idea that Spinal Tap was a band they made up for This is Spinal Tap. I thought Spinal Tap was a real band and the movie was just a mockumentary that the band made.

In my defense, the first time I heard of Spinal Tap was a Simpsons episode when I was ~10 and they seemed like a real rock band when I watched it.
