Lily's does not deserve the hype/title it has for best pizza

Very bland and uninspired food and the service is fucking atrocious, being a bunch of snotty hipster punks who loathe being there and doing their job.

I just don't enjoy Lilly's pizza because of their crust. It is too thick and too sweet for my preferences.

I rarely, if ever have had a bad time getting served there. Then again, I rarely go there at times that they are overly busy. For future reference, if there are more than 10 people standing in line, be ready to wait 30-45 minutes unless you are getting a salad.

^^"Bland and uninspired", if only they stuck to the way everyone other pizza shop on the face of the earth makes their pizza and they'd really be something! Haha, what kind of copout, baseless criticisms.

^^To be fair, the post is pretty obviously just snubbing the place for being so popular with the old hipsters in Five Points. I can't imagine he intended anyone to take his criticism of the food as particularly insightful.

I agree totally. I like the cheese and the toppings. Not a fan of the hipsterphere either.

The crust is one of things I love about Lily's. Never tasted sweet to me, just soft and fluffy.

Capital Club's Easter brunch today was insane

had the roasted leg of lamb, and the gf had seared scallops in a lobster cream sauce

it was so good that after we had cleaned our plates, we asked for bread to sop up the remaining sauces

Which is better? Cardinal club or capital city club?

I've had both but didn't really have areal meal at cardinal club.

haha, i've tried a lot of the places named but just reserve them for a once-in-a-while occasion. I go to the other ones on a more regular basis...
but tell you the truth, i'd rather have some good ol' country home cookin' over any of them.

Question: What's the best restaurant by the airport?

Need to pick the girlfriend up at 5pm on a Friday and we'd rather eat than fight the rush back into Raleigh.

So is this what a "quality" thread is? A thread that will become a total bitch thread with the OP perpetuating the bitchiness with quality posts like:

look, it's not necessarily a "quality thread" based on the fact that you didn't create it. However, it IS necessarily a shitty thread whenever you create it. got it?

A couple of my friends have worked there in the past and while the one time I went I enjoyed it, after constantly being spammed by the owner/manager on Facebook because I was a member of the Babymoon Cafe group, I've pretty much soured.

^^^thanks for misquoting me. Why is it that every time a mainstream or chain restaurant is considered good people chastise you as a bandwagoner?

Quote :
"David's Dumpling and Noodle Bar and (hate to say it) PF Changs are the best Chinese. Jade garden and the former Duck and Dumpling are up there (also a David Mao place, along with former Mandarin House)"

I said I hate to include Changs in the mix because it's not a Raleigh restaurant but it is really good. I studied in China for 7 weeks and there isn't a place in Raleigh that I know of that comes close to anything "real" or "traditional" compared to what I had there but the David Mao restaurants are good and regardless of whether or not Changs Ameri-Chinese or whatever you want to call it, fusion, it's tasty as hell.

I think most of the Chinese restaurants here feature the same menu and are generally the same thing - Beansprout, Jade Garden, etc. it's all subjective. Five Star has some different dishes but I can't really think of a Chinese place (read: not fusion) that is either traditional Chinese or original.

Peking Garden on Milbrook is about as good as it gets in Raleigh. They have some very authentic dishes on the chef's special list, but pretty much everything is good.

Sitar
Royal India (very pricey though)
Azitra if you want really americanized indian food... I call it PF Patel's.

there are probably others, but i'm out of the raleigh loop these days, lots of good Indian joints in The RTP area and Durham.
