Not funny. The only good parts to me were bashing Tyler Perry and Cartman's response about killing everyone, "It's actually pretty funny".

Is it sad that when they announced Osama's death, I immediately had a vision of these three having a musical number on South Park?

"Stop giving Tyler Perry money or he won't go away"

that's the only part i laughed at, this episode was weak

I've not been very impressed with this season thus far.

Surely no trends can be drawn from 2 measly episodes, but could this be signaling the beginning of the show's decline?

wow, this hasn't been said every year for the past 10 years.

First two episodes of last season:
Sexual Healing - All the celebrities cheating (not great other than the EA Sports game)
McBoogerballs - Not good

Still, overall it was a great season. Not everything South Park spits out is gold.

the show has been in decline for a few years now since it went from being about 4 boys having wacky adventures to being an up-its-own-ass social commentary outlet

I don't think the show would have lasted nearly as long had it not taken the satirical route it did. Topical humor is what makes the show consistently relevant rather than just four kids with foul mouths. Wacky adventures can only go so far before it becomes complete stale or outlandish; which the own show noted in the episode where the Earth reality show was cancelled. Scooby Doo can only chase down so many monsters before you already know it's just Old Man Jenkins in a costume. They do a decent job of creating wacky-adventurish story arcs around some of the more blunt satires.

Osama was killed on an episode of South Park right after we went to war. Also, his death just happened on Sunday. They need a little time to create something. I guess they could somehow do a hell episode with the devil, or claim that the guy killed in the earlier episode was a look alike.

even when they first started to do social commentary they managed to not go overboard with it, and kept it ridiculous

the episode about earth as a reality TV show is a prime example

suck my jagon!

They've been doing social commentary since season 4.

So you're saying it's been in decline for 11 seasons?

Given that 6-7-8 are arguably the best?

Ok....

my argument is the in-your-face social commentary, where it loses humor

every show dabbles in social commentary to a degree, its inescapable

but sometimes i don't give a shit what Trey Parker and Matt Stone think about Bono, i just want to watch a funny show

Didn't they kill Osama twice? Once in the post-9/11 episode and then again in the Jersey Shore ep.

nothing special. i've lived outside of the country for the past three years and my main connection to usa pop-culutre/daily life/current entertainment is south park. i enjoy watching their perspective on american culture. even a 'bad' episode of south park is better than all the other garbage that's on TV.

The whole Germany creating the Dalek as a new "final solution" for comedy was pretty funny to me. Also Token laughing at Tyler Perry cracked me up.

I still want to know what Cartman was saying about Kyle when the Germans showed up.

I haven't seen the newest one but I thought the centiPad one was pretty funny. though pretty much every time I read this thread it's someone saying that an episode wasn't funny and I still end up laughing when I watch it.

This weeks episode wasn't about us. To me it was Parker and Stone telling Comedy Central / Viacom they 'want a trade'.

This is their last year under contract is my understanding. Taking a swipe at the owners seems like a bad choice unless they are looking to work elsewhere.

Way before that. One of my favorite episodes is the first of the third season where they go to the rainforest with 'getting gay with kids.' Glossing over some over the earlier episodes, the only one I see is Underpants Gnomes with big business vs. small business and the ludicrous business plans (aka ...Profit!) employed by some companies such as those of the internet bubble burst era.

Next episode is aboot the royal wedding, only it's taking place in Canada.

I'd post the teaser but it's 16 seconds of nothing.

If you never saw Human Centipede or owned an Apple device, maybe I can understand why you didn't like the first episode but I LOL'd my ass off.

As for being on the decline, IMHO there were at least 5 hilarious episodes last year and the year before that there was 8, including my all-time favorite Butters' Bottom Bitch.

They've always been hit or miss, but I still think there's more hits than misses (unlike, say, American Dad).

I like American Dad. It's superior to both Family Guy (since the renewal) and The Cleveland Show. I know some people will say that's not something to be proud of, but it's still good. It's third on my list of currently animated shows behind South Park and Venture Bros.

Ok?? Just because they killed him in the past doesn't mean he can't show up in hell with the devil and Saddam. And I never expected them to do it that week... Although, I would hope they would include it soon seeing as they can make the episodes much, much faster now.

Anywho, I will always and forever love South Park. I like the fact that they pull from what's going on around us. And idk, I will laugh at least some at every episode. I think one of my favorites is still the golden PSP and Terry Schivo (sp?) episode.

also, I think the social commentary is one of the best things about the show.

I kept thinking that there would be a Mario Bros. reference somewhere down the line. Probably better that there wasn't one.
