If you honestly think Derrick Rose was better than Chris Paul this year then I don't know what to tell you. That's ludicrous on so many levels it isn't even funny.

Face, you are such a fucking troll. I really shouldn't even respond to you, but I gotta.

You claim that Howard is more of a winner than Rose, yet the magic haven't won shit in all these years with him in the lineup. The bulls had the best record in the league this year. Oh yeah and howard scored 42 points today and LOST, Rose scored 39 and lead the bulls to a comeback WIN.

Derrick Rose is going to win the mvp award in a landslide, maybe then, after all these "facts" you spit out are proven to be ill-informed opinions, you will shut up.

You're an idiot man.

The Bulls have one of the best teams in the league. The Magic have a terrible supporting cast.

You are essentially saying that if you roll up to the park with Scott Wood and Lorenzo Brown and beat me and 2 scrubs in a 3 on 3 game that you are definitely better than me.

Howard was DOMINANT this year, Rose was far above average but he's not an elite player yet.

The Bulls entire team is stacked they barely have anyone who isn't good.

"yet the magic haven't won shit in all these years with him in the lineup"

Would you like to re-think this quote? The Magic haven't won shit? Really? Did you miss the last three seasons?

Here's proof. Sports fans are like liberals they hate letting the facts get in the way.

Quote :
"I decided to look at Chicago’s Win Produced numbers after I heard for the millionth time that

¦Rose was MVP (Thanks to the Stat Heads who dispute this!)
¦There was no way Kevin Love could be considered MVP
An amazing thing stood out to me – the Bulls don’t have bad players! An average player has a WP48 [Wins Produced per 48 minutes] of 0.100. Giving us a little wiggle room, let’s define a “bad” player as one that is ½ the value of a good player, or a WP48 of 0.050 or less. Keeping that in mind, let’s take a look at Chicago this season.

As one can see, Chicago has had the fewest “bad” players suit up for them. Furthermore, the Bulls have had a remarkably low 1,215 minutes allocated to those “bad” players. This is a whopping 700 fewer than the next closest team (the San Antonio Spurs).

To put this in perspective the Nuggets have given Al Harrington over 1,500 minutes, and received about -2.0 wins as a result. All of the Bulls “bad” players put together aren’t even as bad as many teams’ worst player.

Now let’s also take a quick look at Minnesota. The Timberwolves have had 13 “bad” players. These players have played over 12,000 minutes and combined to offer -10.0 Wins Produced.

What does all this mean? Not only does Derrick Rose have some very productive teammates (think Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah, Ronnie Brewer, etc. . .), unlike other teams he hasn’t had to play with many “bad” players. In contrast, when Kevin Love looks around the locker room, “bad” players are everywhere.

Just to hammer this point home, let’s put how good Chicago is playing in historical perspective.

Chicago, despite injury problems, has been able to get away with having the 9th lowest total of “bad” minutes played in the last 33 years. Of all the teams in front of them, only the Kansas City Kings failed to make the playoffs*.

And except the 1983 and 2001 Kings’ teams, every team in front of Chicago made it all the way to the Conference Finals. In short, Chicago is in historic company.

How did Chicago do this? The front office essentially followed a very good formula: keep all of the team’s good players from 2009-10 and get most of the good players from Utah. This formula has produced a very good team.

Unfortunately in the NBA, all of the regular season awards are individual based. This means Derrick Rose will get the credit for what was essentially a team effort. While it is worth virtually nothing, I would like to award the Chicago Bulls with the Most Valuable Team award this season and reiterate that Rose is not the MVP.

One last note…

Some might argue that Chicago’s players are essentially “not bad” because of Rose and/or Coach Thibodeau. But if we look at the productivity of these players this season and what these veterans did in 2009-10, we see that this team’s results are not surprising. As the following table indicates (numbers from NerdNumbers), most players on this team are offering essentially the same production seen last year.

The primary exceptions – Derrick Rose, Ronnie Brewer, and Carlos Boozer – are easy to explain.

¦Rose is young, and young players get better.
¦Brewer is essentially offering what he did prior to 2009-10
¦And Boozer – who has been hurt – is offering less this year
In sum, we don’t need to argue that this team is succeeding because of its dynamic point guard or amazing coach. The Bulls story is really about choosing productive players. And the Bulls – as the study into “bad” players indicates – have been very good at making these choices.

"

so i took this weird promo bet tonight that if you be the over/under of Portland/Dallas 3pointers (13.5) and won your bet... if the person who scores the first point of the game shoots 50% from the field they will triple your winnings.

You were allowed to do a max of $200 but i didnt like the karma of doing $200 so i did $25.

Andre Miller scored first and he's 5-9 FG. And I took the under of 13.5 3's and there have only been 9 with 5 minutes left.

Cant believe i might actually hit this shit, wish id put the $200 on it.

I do wanna retract one thing though. Boozer is not better than Rose this season. His play slipped a ton this year and I didnt realize that. I think part of that is playing next to Noah so he doesn't feel the need to play as hard... also he is older and faced a pretty significant injury so it makes sense that he'd decline.

He's still on par with Rose though. He's just not the elite big man he used to be in Utah... at least not this season

Are you arguing Love isn't one of the best players in the league? Because that would be a crazy stance to take.

Grizzlies need to split these first two games in SA to have a good shot of upsetting them in round 1. Today would be great Memphis. I can feel it coming in the air tonight.

I don't think I've ever seen a round 1 between the #1 and #8 seed where everyone agreed it was so evenly matched coming in. Pretty sure everyone had Dallas destroying Golden State.

Huge win for Dallas last night, they had me worried. They couldnt hit a fucking thing and still pulled it out though, bodes well for their chances. How about Jason Kidd, wow.

Im not talking so much about my bracket as I am my knowledge. Just last night I reminded everyone that Paul was the best PG in the league when everyone was talking about Rose.

Paul plays with scrubs and just singlehandedly took down the Lakers. Rose is on a stacked team. There's a big difference. What an unbelievable game he had jesus. 33 pts, 7 reb, 14 ast, 4 stl, 2 to, 11-18 fg??

If he could stay healthy he'd easily go down as the best PG of all-time. If the Bobcats actually got him it'd make up for like 35% of the stupid things theyve done the last few seasons.

Denver-OKC and SAS-Memphis are the closest series on paper.

Cant wait for that game tonight. The winner of that series has a great chance to beat the Lakers in the West Conf Finals

nah i mean he does have a point, a ton of people were jumping on the rose/westbrook bandwagon, paul in particular seemed forgotten after he had that injury, deron not as much, and i think parker is the most underrated player in the league

anyhow interesting the lower seeds prob should have won just about every game so far

the foul on melo at the end was total bullshit.

I have a serious question though - insert obligatory "i don't watch much NBA" comment here - is it two and a half steps or three before a travel? The announcers were all over Amare's nuts for that second sick dunk, but I'm sure I saw three steps without a dribble....

Yes, they are more lenient with the traveling calls. But people also overstate it because they don't have unathletic white guys out there firing 19 foot 3's all day long. They can cover some ground legally...

that offensive foul call on melo was one of the worst crunch-time fouls i've ever seen in 10+ years of closely following the nba

maybe it's just because i fucking hate the celtics, but it sure as hell seems like they ALWAYS get silly calls to go their way, especially in home games

Wow Melo choked away the game for the Knicks and Denver is humming along in the first half.

I wonder how many Denver would be losing by if the Knicks hadnt given them so many good players for Carmelo.

^^Steve Blake? What the fuck? Fisher is still a good defender and Kobe checked Paul on several late 4th quarter possessions (i.e., when the game was on the line). The Hornets abused the pick and roll and the Lakers defended it shittily. Kobe had an overall great game but maybe he was referring to himself after the game as he was hung up on screens repeatedly ("effort").

Paul is definitely >>>>>>>>> Rose as far as pure PG play; Rose is arguably the best athlete in the league, is indestructible, and is the world's best contortionist. Yes he made the plays to win the game yesterday. He also nearly shot them out of the game by going 0-9 from 3.

It's frustrating how the referees seem to control so many of the playoff games every year. It's just the nature of the game, though--basketball is the major sport that most lends itself to open-ended officiating since so many calls could go either way.

But, seriously: already the refs have had a MAJOR influence in deciding three of the Game 1 outcomes:

1. Missing that goaltending call in the last minute of the Thunder-Nuggets game, giving the Thunder the lead and effectively taking the wind out of the Nuggets' sails.

2. That phantom offensive foul call on 'Melo in the Knicks-Celtics game on a play that happens at least ten times a game with no whistle, which they for some reason decided to start calling with the Knicks up 1 with the ball and with <24 seconds on the clock. Then, NOT calling two pretty clear offensive fouls on the other end when Pierce shouldered Melo, then when Ray Allen knocked Toney Douglas to the floor to get an open look at the game-winning three. This, to me, was the worst one.

3. But this one was almost as bad: the Heat getting to the line a whopping 39 times compared to 15 free throws for the Sixers. I know the Heat penetrate a lot and, as a result, will get a lot of free throws, but that differential is totally inexcusable.

Again, you could say that each of these three teams had a chance to win each of these games, but they shouldn't have to overcome the officials to do so just because they are underdogs. It sure seems like once again, the referees are going to be a big story of the NBA Playoffs, which is unfortunate.

I think Denver and OKC are the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the West right now, and thats only if the Lakers ever wake up. Pity one has to go home in the first round.

Denver has a stacked roster with no proven closer (maybe Gallinari?). Afflalo's absence really hurt their chances of containing Westbrook. Nonetheless, if they hit their free throws yesterday it would have remained a blowout.

V Yeah; it's not like their arms were interlocked - Pierce literally had his arm draped over Carmelo's shoulder and Carmelo threw it off.
