THE FIRST EVER 161-1 SEASON CONTINUES TOMORROW!
4/8/2011 9:21:09 PM
5-0 over Rangers in game 1 of the doubleheaderBritton (2-0) went 7.2 shutout innings, putting his season ERA at 0.66Jason Berken finished it off for himHR's from Jones, Markakis, Reynolds (who currently has a .292 BA compared to .198 last season)i think it's safe to say the O's are for real...i won't say they'll make the playoffs, but they will cause trouble for anyone they play. the pitching staff is absolutely carrying this team right nowhaven't been this excited/proud since the late 90's[Edited on April 9, 2011 at 7:17 PM. yikes! got that ass beat in game 2 Arrieta had a rough night, gave up 8 ER through 3 inningshopefully they can pull out a win tomorrow to make it 3 straight series wins
4/10/2011 1:10:09 AM
Lol if the o's are even .500 by the all-star break, they'll be champions of the earth
4/10/2011 3:13:43 PM
Oh boy great outting from Guthrie and he's gonna get the loss because his teammates couldn't hit. Fucking hate that stat.
4/10/2011 4:09:07 PM
yesthe bats were quiet today, and i believe at this point no player is hitting over .300that needs to change, because the pitchers are handling their biz and the only thing impeding success this season will likely be poor hitting
4/10/2011 6:18:06 PM
Go O's
4/11/2011 9:20:55 AM
if Emmitt Smith covered baseball, he would say that Tillman got "blowed up"1.2 IP, 9 hits allowed, 6 ER allowed vs. Yankees in a 7-4 losshopefully this doesn't become a trend
4/14/2011 12:09:18 AM
L 6-5 in 10 innings to the YankeesO's are no longer in 1st place
4/14/2011 10:38:23 PM

4/18/2011 10:16:03 PM
lots of issues with this team right nowmost importantly they have lost 8 straight. that's not good at all.fix the bullpen, start knocking in some runs. i think over the losing streak they have been outscored like 48-17 or something. after tonight somewhere in the neighborhood of 53-19.that's some foolishness.[Edited on April 18, 2011 at 10:34 PM. looking very good tonight, 8-0 through 5Wieters is 4-4 with RISP this season, including a 3 R double tonight...after his much ballyhooed hitting woes, seems like he's getting on the right track
4/19/2011 9:00:12 PM
aaaaaaand 5-4 over Twins, Wieters (6 RBI past 2 games) is coming aliveat this point Zach Britton (3-1, 3.16 ERA) is the most reliable pitcher on the roster at the ripe age of 23Guthrie with the start tomorrow night...he's been pitching well but has gotten no run support. let's get the series win tomorrow!
4/20/2011 10:00:45 PM
man, I'm glad to see that things are back to normal
4/23/2011 5:00:30 PM

still shitty! there is a belief that Showalter may take over Andy McPhail's position as GM after this season, and hire a new manageri'm so tired of all the losing. the AL East doesn't help, but a lot of high draft picks have tanked. something's gotta give...maybe all they need is Angelos to sell the team?
8/3/2011 9:54:12 AM
well, this thread sure petered out, didn't it
8/15/2011 7:54:38 PM
yeah well they suck, and no one caresthey need to sign Dylan Bundy (top 5 pick) by midnight. if they don't, someone needs to lose their job.
8/15/2011 9:23:50 PM
RIP Mike Flanagan.

he was a solid pitcher.i miss the days of having three aces on staff, much like the Phillies have now.McPhail (McFail?) needs to move on from his position (i.e., he needs to go), he's had enough time to construct a decent farm system, and the farm system is garbage. he drafts pitchers ad nauseum, but maybe one out of 4 turn out to be mediocre. i'm tired of being an Orioles fan. no matter what they do, they fuck it up in some way. i've just about had enough. growing up in Baltimore from 1985-1996, they were the only pro team in the city, and after 1998, they have been horrible. i'm all about supporting my teams, but when my favorite team is a chronic loser for 10+ years, i wonder why i support them. it's a tough division, but they did well in the late 90s, so why not now?
8/25/2011 12:56:14 AM
^That's where I was about five years ago. I grew up loving the O's and would catch as many games as I could. But, being an NC State fan, I have enough bad teams to support that I don't need to follow the Orioles anymore when the seemingly lose every day. I actually didnt realize that Mcphail has been there long enough to warrent firing, so i have no opinion on the matter. Angelos however needs to be strung up and then burned. hate that dude.
