I went down to Cape Canaveral for the April 29th launch a little over a month agoIt ended up getting delayed about 2 weeks, so I missed outI'm hoping to make the final launch though

Any idea when they will hold the lottery for the last launch? Registration closed on Sunday but I still haven't received any emails.
6/10/2011 9:09:16 AM
i think somewhere it said this friday (i.e. today), but I don't remember for sure
6/10/2011 10:32:45 AM
all the documents i read said that it would be held "at a date after registration". it kinda left it up in the air..i'm sure it will be soon
6/10/2011 3:02:27 PM
I read on another forum that the emails were sent out over the weekend and that second chance emails were sent out yesterday. It's likely that all tickets will be claimed by the end of today.
6/15/2011 8:25:10 AM
I just got my "Sorry, you didnt get a ticket" email.
6/15/2011 1:48:39 PM
Yep, no go for me too
6/15/2011 2:45:09 PM
No one in my family got in. Sadly, that won't stop my father from spending $SRBs to procure tickets.
6/15/2011 5:13:24 PM
i didn't win tickets and my 4 friends didn't either...however, i was at playalinda this morning and took some awesome shots of atlantis on the launching pad. i will upload them shortly.
6/18/2011 7:16:15 PM
Here they are...
6/18/2011 8:03:26 PM
my cousin got 4 tickets. i don't get one of them
6/19/2011 1:41:41 AM

6/20/2011 11:11:56 AM
6/29/2011 11:23:55 AM
My father was able to get tickets for my mom but can't take the time off from work to go himself. Sadly, I have to work as well. Blah.
6/29/2011 6:15:42 PM
I'll go with your mom
6/29/2011 7:14:47 PM
yall keep talking about tickets, is that to watch at the actual launchpad or something?
6/29/2011 7:16:16 PM
seriously, I wanna be that close the shuttle when it launches. (same proximity as in the photos)
6/29/2011 7:18:41 PM
@ 6 miles
6/29/2011 7:48:51 PM
I youtubed a couple videos from the causeway, which is the closest you can legally be to the launch.. those are the ~$60 NASA tickets. i was surprised how far away you still are...For those that don't have tickets, you can get a decent view from the A. Max Brewer Memorial Bridge. Youtube videos from there show that it is further than the ticket locations, but still not that bad.
6/29/2011 8:39:49 PM
My father says that Jetty Park is an okay place to see the launch if you can't get causeway tickets but you have to get there hella hella hella early as it fills up rather quickly. I've seen one launch from there and it still a good view but it's hard to beat the causeway where I saw my first two!
6/29/2011 8:54:12 PM
looks like this check mark on my bucket list is going to have to wait
6/29/2011 9:42:12 PM
I don't have launch tickets but I'm driving all the way down there anyways, just to see what I can.
6/29/2011 11:50:57 PM
Friday morningstill trying to juggle my schedule
7/6/2011 12:15:31 AM
^^^this is the last chance ever to see a shuttle launch.
7/6/2011 7:10:22 AM
Right now there is only a 30% chance of a launch on Friday. Weather doesn't look to be cooperating.
7/6/2011 8:42:36 AM
Even if it is a clear day at Cape Canaveral, the weather in Europe also plays a big part in shuttle launch windows. There are I think three abort landing strips in Europe and at least one of them has to have optimal winds/cloud coverage to launch.
7/6/2011 11:08:28 AM
if it doesn't go today, when's the next day it'll attempt?
7/8/2011 7:58:30 AM
I'm really glad that the launch of our Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles in a nuclear crisis isn't dependent on the chance of rain sprinkles.
7/8/2011 8:45:51 AM
Rain isn't really the issue. High winds, cloud cover, and severe lightning are. And the reason weather doesn't interfere with ICBM launches is because if wind or lightning knocks one out of the air the warhead won't go off. The most damage anyone would get from that is maybe if the ICBM falls on your house or something. The next launch window would be tomorrow at 11:02AM EST. If that gets scrubbed, it will go up on Sunday at 10:38AM EST.
7/8/2011 8:54:31 AM
I heard that if it gets delayed today, they will automatically go to a 48 hour turnaround for a sunday launch b/c of the traffic, crowds, etc...
7/8/2011 9:51:06 AM

7/8/2011 11:18:19 AM
