I've been looking at the Roku...but until Hulu + gets their shit a little more together I'll have to stick with regular cable.

Yeah Hulu Plus isn't worth it. We have a Roku for Netflix + Pandora in our exercise room. Was definitely a great buy for that room where we didn't want or need a fancy setup.

Usenet quality trumps all others. An 8GB MKV plays beautifully on my Bluray player. That said, netflix looks much better on every bluray player I have tried than on any PC I have tried. And on PC netflix plays much better in IE than Firefox.

just repeating what has prob. been said 20+ times:Go with Netflix. I stream from a 360 and it's HD quality. I, honestly, don't think 85% of what I've watched could look any better on my 52" HDTV -- if it could, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The other 15% simply wasn't available in HD - and those are usually odd documentaries. As for content... there are tons of movies and shows. Netflix has sort of pushed me in a direction of not caring about new shows so much. I do watch some shows as they air, and I enjoy them a lot. But they're all shows I've watched for a few seasons. With Netflix, I've been able to go back and watch shows that I've heard really good things about, but never got around to watching and am now too far back to jump in with the current season or it's off air. I've watched several complete series through netflix that I REALLY enjoyed and just hadn't seen before.[Edited on March 15, 2011 at 11:16 PM. Reason : .]

^^^ interesting. They are pretty much doing what I see HBO moving to eventually if they ever take the risk of disassociating themselves with cable/satellite.

^^^ I've been doing that alot too. I finally watched the USA series Monk, and now I've moved on to X-Files. However...there is way too much TV on now that I keep up with to give up cable :-( which is why if Hulu+ added a few more current shows I wouldn't bother with cable at all

I stream Netflix to my Samsung 46" and it looks perfect. Only problem is it only sees my Instant Queue, you can't just search Netflix from the TV. Hulu + doesn't seem worth it to me, any shows I want to see I will find by torrent (the shows I watch are usually foreign/british)

^ Depends on the device. Xbox app added searching and browsing in the last update a few months ago.[Edited on March 17, 2011 at 1:29 PM. Reason : Oh durp I guess the Samsung is the device]

Hulu+ is a good idea but flawed execution, and I understand that it has entirely to do with the licensing deals... they aren't able to offer the same content on Hulu+ as on Hulu.com because their agreements with the studios said something like "to watch on a computer", which rules out Rokus (for now). I really want it to work out, but it's got a ways to go.

^^yeah it's the samsung's fault at that, the search works just fine when I go through the PS3
