it's not like that at all, unless Lowe is one of the people posting in the thread

You guys can disagree with me all you want, but every other State board is talking about the same stuff right now. It's the hottest topic out there right now for NC State sports and it's something that will continue to be talked about in multiple threads across the site, so why not centralize it?

I'm not going to allow this thread to denigrate to what the Credibility thread did, thanks to BOTH sides. And as I said, I won't tolerate any slandering of Sidney Lowe at all. Period.

(and since I'm not on here 24/7/365 anyone who does see that in this thread, feel free to PM me)

oh, well i guess that makes it ok then.

this is pathetic. PackPride is doing it, so it's ok. we used to hold ourselves to a higher standard than that cesspool.

THERE IS NO COACHING SEARCH AS OF TODAY. this thread is literally 100% IRRELEVANT. i bet you'd lock a thread about an imaginary football coaching search...

However if Sidney Lowe were to finish out the ACC season undefeated and win the ACC tournament (I know, not gonna happen just for the sake of argument) there would be no coaching search.

Actually, I bet there is already stuff going on behind the scenes in terms of a coaching search. Names are most likely being put together by a preliminary search committee. Pretty sure that Sid is gone no barring a miraculous run to an ACC tourney title and doing some damage in the NCAA tournament.

I mean, let's face it. Dude is gone in less than a month. It would be stupid to not start putting the pieces in place to move on a new coach as soon as possible.

I think if we keep this thread we need to lock up the credibility thread

no reason to have two threads spouting off the same shit (hell the game threads and credibility thread already do that at this point). If this thread is made, then we are essentially putting closure on his coaching tenure and his credibility is irrelevant

and his coaching tenure isn't over which is why this thread needs to be locked...

right, either or. I mean go into the credibility thread right now and the last 4-5 pages consist of nothing but coaching search talk.

also with posts like this:
Quote :
"PackPride has it on good authority that we should be able to get:

-Bill Self
-John Calipari
-Rick Pitino
-Jay Wright
-Thad Matta

Why wouldn't we be able to get them? I mean, we DID win national championships when they were in school. Thus, we deserve it.
"

that thread needs to be locked up, I mean that is just stupid. Self is at KANSAS, Calipari is at KENTUCKY, Matta is at OSU, Wright is at Villanova, Pitino is at Louisville. Unreal, anyone who truly believes we will get any of those coaches is out of their mind

I actually would like to see Chris Mooney here despite some of your opinions on the Princeton offense. Chris Mack's name keeps popping up (probably because he is from Xavier haha), but I would be wary about hiring a 2nd year head coach.

The new coach is going to have a lot of good pieces in place. Brown is a fucking baller. He is going to be that shut down defender

We should hire Gail Goestenkors. Her former step-son Adam Simons could be an assistant and coach the big men.

Sorry, let's get back onto how we are going to spend $4 mil and hire Rick Barnes. That's relevant.

[Edited on February 13, 2011 at 5:05 PM. Reason : We will be paying two coaches next year, don't think that helps the olde budget ]

That's probably what we're going to need if we want to tempt him. Texas fans were all over Barnes the past couple of years before this very successful year. We've got to ask. On the off chance he's looking for new scenery he could be a program game changer.

Some have thrown out the Baylor coach Scott Drew. He'd most likely bring Quincy Miller and Duece Bello with him.

Setting the bar this high is not going to end well. WHEN we hire a no name mid major coach, hes will already have to climb out of a hole since hes not Barnes or Dixon or fucking Pitino. Instead of bringing up these big names lets research and propose high ceiling, mid major coaches. If we do end up with a big name (we wont) then we will be pleasantly surprised

Exactly.

People are already going to be disappointed and disillusioned with the new catch before they even have their introductory press conference.

Unless of course we get Rick Barnes. That shit would be awesome.

I don't really care what people on message boards discuss. It won't change who I feel would be a good fit for the program. It's not like the AD is offering the job to anyone who will listen and being shot down publicly by people who were not even talked to about coaching here.

Personally I am holding out for Gregg Popovich.

backing the pack has had a pretty good series about possible coaching pickups (most of whom are midmajors):

billy gillispie
tubby smith
blaine taylor
cuonzo martin
chris mooney
gregg marshall
keno davis
darrin horn
brian gregory

Head over to the site to see the writeups on each. but you can search for "profile of a possible savior" on backing the pack and find all of them. they're pretty good overviews of what each coach can offer and our chances of getting him / wanting him. (http://www.backingthepack.com/search?btn=Go&order=date&q=profile+of+a+possible+savior&type=FanPost)

Honestly, and OhBoyeee and pinkandblack don't misconstrue this into advocacy, I think that with a year left on the contract there is still a slight possibility Sid stays.

Granted I don't know the buyout, and it would take a miraculous end of season run. Great performance in our remaining ACC schedule and a run to the ACC Final ( and even then he'd probably need to win it ).

In other words, he gone.
