Everyone has differing opinions at the Senior Bowl. One scout said Kaepernick has been the best QB on North's squad while another said he's been the most disappointing. If there are scout's you know/trust, then read them, otherwise you're better off just ignoring Sr Bowl reports

They'd probably do a weighted lottery based on this years standings, something like that maybe.

As currently structured, yes. But you have to believe the new CBA would include a one-time provision for some kind of alternative method. Other teams wouldn't be happy with us getting Fairley/Bowers AND Luck.

If they had that kind of foresight, then they probably wouldn't be at such an impasse in the negotiations in the first place.

Nate blew up Kaepernik when he was trying to scramble out of the pocket (he also blew a coverage on a TE to give up a 27 yard pass, but I choose to ignore that).

Weslye Saunders is ineligible for the draft due to a paperwork, which is funny because his dad works for a paper.

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Sources-Weslye-Saunders-ineligible-for-draft-scouting-combine.html

Also, here's the mock draft listed on the right side of the article.

"According to sources, Saunders and his representatives didn't petition the NFL to be included in the draft eligible list to be given special eligibility. Saunders was a senior, but didn't play for the Gamecocks last season due to an NCAA inquiry and violations of team rules.

Saunders' situation is contrasted by North Carolina defensive lineman Marvin Austin and wide receiver Greg Little, who were declared eligible for the draft after filing paperwork and are going to attend the scouting combine later this month in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Austin was dismissed from the team, and Little and Tar Heels defensive end Robert Quinn were declared permanently ineligible due to NCAA rule violations involving receiving extra benefits from agents."

not draft related but this is probably will the most used NFL thread for a while...

Since most of you are too young to remember the '87 NFL strike where scab players were used, here is a nifty little summary:

Combine Results from the NFL. Runs through tomorrow.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/top-performers-classic

Julio Jones ran a 4.39 40 but just recently broke his foot so he won't be able to work out with teams before the draft.

Greg Little had the most bench reps out of WR, Searcy with most in CB, Austin with 2nd most in DT and glad to hear Mark Herzlich had 3rd most in LB.

Little is top 5 in quite a few categories but that won't matter with his hands of stone.

Here are Irving and Spencer's profiles:

Are those the only 2 guys we have at the combine? I would think J Williams would have gotten a look.

Spencer never seemed that fast to me, just a guy who can get open, which is a much more valuable skill.

the nfl.com write up about Irving is pretty good, the last "weakness" they put is lame though

Quote :
"Irving has shown tremendous fortitude and determination recovering from a devastating car crash that cost him his 2009 season, and he has the tools to compete for a starting job at the next level. He is a bit undersized, but runs well to make plays outside of the tackle box. He has very good instincts and is rarely out of position, but he can get overwhelmed by bigger blockers in a phone booth situation. In the passing game, he plays with good discipline and flashes the burst to jump underneath routes and put pressure on the quarterback when blitzing. Irving will likely be a third or fourth round choice.

Strengths: Irving is a fast linebacker that makes plays all over the field. Well prepared player that reads keys quickly and has a nose for the football in run support. Drops smoothly in coverage, has terrific ball skills and the closing burst to get after the quarterback on blitzes. Vocal leader and fierce competitor.

Weaknesses: A bit stiff in the hips and does not change direction quickly making him a liability in space and man coverage. Struggles to shed blocks at times. Does not always take proper angles in run support and will not consistently wrap the ball carrier. Missed entire 2009 season after a serious car crash. "

I mean really? Youre going to use his car crash as a weakness?

Missing a year in any profession would be a detriment. An NFL team would be idiotic not to take that into consideration.

Especially with the injuries involved. There is a huge difference in missing a year because of non-injuries and injuries. Having come back and played at a high level should help him. But they will still be concerned about possible long term effects.

Quote :
"Top character questions

North Carolina DT Marvin Austin — Interviewed very poorly at the Combine, very selfishly throwing his college under the bus and refusing to take responsibility for any of the wrongdoings that led to his dismissal from the team. Has earned a reputation in the NFL scouting community as a "finger-pointing, excuse-making con artist" who does not know what it means to lead. Set a poor example and coasted way too much on his natural talent throughout college. Set back the UNC program by accepting improper gifts and was called "the ringleader" that led to investigations affecting the eligibility of 13 players. Has clear first-round talent as one-gap penetrator in a 4-3 defense after showing well at the East-West Shrine game and at the Combine, and could fit into the back of the first round, but a number of teams have said they would not consider him until the third round, or would not want him at any price because of the way he will affect a locker room."

Just realized Bowers is out of the Top 10 in both of those mocks. If that's true, I wonder how much money he lost?

The other of the two draft guys on ESPN (not Kiper) thought Starvin' should be taken by Chicago in the 1st. Mentioned the attitude problems and not having played football in a year, but he's got talent in them titties.

the pictures are hilarious. 6'4" 284 lb DT wearing nothing but white compression shorts and white cleats. here is a video of him stretching in the background of one of bowers' 40 yard dash runs. it's gold

I'm interested in seeing how the first round mocks of these gurus matches with the real draft. If I recall correctly, ESPN had a bunch of their NFL reporters give their picks and the top person had ~10% correct.
