2 to 2:30ish maybe?
12/21/2010 1:08:00 AM
In a bit over an hour.
12/21/2010 1:08:04 AM
I'm in Raleigh, and the moon is just regular right now.I'm staying up for the total eclipse. The weather dude said clouds will be moving in so we should try to catch it earlier on during the total period.
12/21/2010 1:14:47 AM
anything yet?
12/21/2010 1:43:53 AM
There's a shadow on the top left which is getting bigger.
12/21/2010 1:54:15 AM
clouds are thicker now. getting a clean shot of the moon between the wisps of clouds is going to be tough. probably not worth it for me to go drive somewhere now.
12/21/2010 2:01:13 AM
it's nothing spectacular imoI saw it half covered a few minutes ago
12/21/2010 2:06:11 AM
but it's going to get red or something right
12/21/2010 2:06:36 AM
I don't know... I'll check again in a few
12/21/2010 2:07:11 AM
full eclipse peak ETA is 3:17 amtotality begins at 2:41y'all are some impatient mofos[Edited on December 21, 2010 at 2:10 AM. Reason : ]
12/21/2010 2:09:04 AM
I don't see anyone being impatient
12/21/2010 2:17:45 AM
I'm taking picturesssssssssss
12/21/2010 2:21:10 AM
Alright, I'm still seeing a sliver of white. And it's slightly red. The clouds are obscuring a lot of the redness.I think it's cool, but I gotta decide whether or not to wake my friend up for it. I said I'd stay up to see if it was worth it...now I can't tell.
12/21/2010 2:41:12 AM
IT'S HAPPENING
12/21/2010 2:44:32 AM
it's nothing special
12/21/2010 2:47:19 AM
It's so pretty!
12/21/2010 2:49:01 AM
is it disappearing yet?
12/21/2010 2:49:42 AM
It's shadowed in red. Really neat.
12/21/2010 2:54:43 AM
It's a very clear sky right here thankfully but I'm going to bed now
12/21/2010 3:01:02 AM
its not that detailed.
12/21/2010 3:03:45 AM
i'll take a meteor shower
12/21/2010 3:04:21 AM
there was supposed to be a really small meteor shower tonight too, actually.I saw the one that happened about 1.5 weeks ago, during finals. We left the library at 3am and drove to Jordan Lake, best one of the year supposedly.
12/21/2010 3:06:24 AM
Dammit the clouds are rolling in now
12/21/2010 3:06:39 AM
Less red and more boring than expected
12/21/2010 3:20:10 AM
^^^ I saw a few shooting stars while I was out, that must have been what they were from.
12/21/2010 3:22:59 AM
Pretty darn cool!Glad I stayed up for it!
12/21/2010 3:28:09 AM
Clouds
12/21/2010 3:36:59 AM
I just snapped these 20 minutes ago. Not the greatest, but they'll do.
12/21/2010 3:37:19 AM
shot these with my 70-200 lens:[Edited on December 21, 2010 at 3:50 AM. Reason : ]
12/21/2010 3:38:48 AM
wow specter...those blow mine out of the water... i used a 55-200mm and just set it to manual with a 15 second exposure...i don't know much about settings, though
12/21/2010 3:40:56 AM
thanks, i could've done better with a longer lens and perhaps more megapixels. those were shot at f/4 in manual, 5-10 sec.here's one more:[Edited on December 21, 2010 at 4:01 AM. Reason : ]
12/21/2010 3:44:03 AM
That last one is the best with the red and the blue in the upper right portion. Unfortunately we got screwed over by clouds. I saw it for about 4 seconds.
12/21/2010 3:59:02 AM
Best shot we got. But our digital camera isn't anything special, there were clouds off and on, and this is a facebook upload. Nevertheless I'm pleased with how it came out, because getting a pic at all meant that I was able to see it, which wasn't guaranteed with how cloudy it was.
12/21/2010 4:26:05 AM
Awesome pictures. I went up on the parking deck at my apartment more to say I saw it than for any other reason, but I saw it nonetheless.
12/21/2010 6:26:46 AM
thanks for posting the pics, guys. it started snowing here and i went out around 2 and couldn't find the moon so i went back to bed
12/21/2010 8:28:04 AM
I went outside to see it for a few minutes this morning. Pretty cool sight, glad the clouds cleared so i could get a good view.
12/21/2010 8:34:05 AM
Something I hadn't thought about:
12/21/2010 9:34:07 AM
Glad someone took pictures. I was too tired to stay up for it
12/21/2010 9:35:32 AM
^^well didn't they base their calendar on the moon cycles? I could be completely wrong, but some sort of "coincidence" like that doesn't seem very coincidental
12/21/2010 9:38:28 AM
Yeah, and according to some Mayan tour guide in Mexico, the "December 21, 2012" thing is the time at which we'll be at the center of the galaxy (or something), not the end of the world. Basically you could go back to the first Mayan calendar at that point and be set.
12/21/2010 9:41:09 AM
so it is pretty much a reset of the calendar this time next year... nick cage is not going to be happy with that...
