was this a serious thread?
11/27/2010 8:04:32 PM
and once you bring in your enforcers, they dont actually fight on the fieldwhat you do, is you have a special patch of ice on every sideline so they can lace up some skates and fight on the iceonly way the sport could be better
11/27/2010 8:05:46 PM
How many points would we have earned for an overtime win if not for Ron Cherry
11/27/2010 8:07:59 PM
a win is a win is a win

i feel like there'd be a lot of deaths or otherwise massive brawls if fighting were allowed since, ya know, football players are much tougher than hockey players[Edited on November 27, 2010 at 8:33 PM. Reason : lkj]

Why don't they have fighting in basketball? I mean a guy commits a hard foul on your star player, you should be able to bring in some gorilla motherfucker to beat the shit out of him
11/27/2010 8:37:37 PM
Why don't they have fighting in baseball? I mean, if there's a play at the plate involving a star player and they get taken out by the catcher, why not allow the bat boy to jump in there and defend the guy?
11/27/2010 8:38:56 PM
the bat boy isn't on the team
11/27/2010 8:40:41 PM
try telling the batboy thatbetter yet, if Tim Lincecum beans Alfonso Soriano, Lincecum should have to duke it out on the pitchers mound one on one with Carlos Zambrano]
11/27/2010 8:41:58 PM
guys with mullets are usually pretty good fightersfuckin' farmboys
11/27/2010 8:44:07 PM
Why don't they have fighting in hockey? With all those big hits there should be some good fights going. I see a lot of pushing and falling but no punches.
11/27/2010 8:45:52 PM
11/27/2010 8:55:27 PM
obligatory "i went to a fight and a hockey game broke out"

Perfect example of what I'm talking about here. Grossman threw a hit he shouldn't have, so he has to fight Parros.Grossman's not a fighter, though, so Parros has to fight Barch to answer for fighting Grossman.
11/27/2010 9:22:29 PM
11/27/2010 9:28:05 PM
hey, i think i'm going to deliberately put myself in a situation where i could break bones in my hand that i need for handling my stick and making precise shots
11/27/2010 9:33:19 PM
That's why Parros is fighting and not Ryan Getzlaf.
11/27/2010 9:44:45 PM
wasn't talking about that particular instance, but ok
11/27/2010 9:49:05 PM
Just saying, the enforcer's job is to fight. He doesn't skate around trying to score goals, and the scorers don't skate around trying to punch guys.
11/27/2010 9:52:31 PM
i wasn't under the impression that this grossman guy is an enforcer
11/27/2010 10:03:09 PM
He isn't, but he's taking responsibility for his choice to throw questionable hits.
11/27/2010 10:04:52 PM
and deliberately doing what i said earlierjust saying, at least with enforcement in baseball where you slide in high on someone and know you're probably gonna get beaned later for it, you can generally take it in the back or even attempt to avoid the pitch altogether.

Haymakers thrown by Andre Johnson. Straight up brawl.

Why aren't there extra point kicks in hockey?I mean right after you score a goal in hockey, why not have an extra point that another player would come in and kick? Makes all the sense in the world]
11/28/2010 3:48:38 PM
Why are some hockey players such pussies that they can't be hit legally within the rules of the game without having some goon beat the other player up?That's the more important question.
11/28/2010 3:58:46 PM
This thread sucks but not as much as someone (even jokingly) calling hockey players pussies...
11/28/2010 4:01:37 PM
I'd put a soccer player in a fight over a hockey player
11/28/2010 4:02:35 PM
I wrote "some hockey players".If you play a game where hitting is allowed but you have an enforcer on your team to prevent you from being hit, you are a pussy.[Edited on November 28, 2010 at 4:03 PM. Reason : just kidding]

Too bad their enforcers didn't get out there to fight for them, that would've been a good fight.

lol did they give johnson a game ball? awesome
11/28/2010 6:30:21 PM
Putting a layer of ice on the mat would make boxing much more interesting.
11/28/2010 6:33:17 PM
Golic just equated this with hockey and asked if this is going in the direction of it. He said if he knew he could get his shots in against a guy for a mere* 25,000 bucks, he would do it. It is the league minimum fine for such a thing, and they might let it go... that would be awesome*mere to them... I would gladly let andre johnson punch me twice in the mug for 25 grand
11/29/2010 6:08:25 PM
Both should have been suspended for one game. Finnagan for being a little bitch and Johnson for throwing punches.

lol at hockey fans trying to tell the NFL what to do when the NFL has 10 times the ratings.

Didn't read the thread, but:Because football players are strong enough, and have enough traction, to actually kill each other with their bare hands.
11/30/2010 6:17:24 PM
I'm assuming this isn't a serious thread, but rather another opportunity for vinylbandit to inform the internet of his cultural snobbery.[Edited on November 30, 2010 at 6:30 PM. Reason : ]

good point. they just showed a clip from some soccer game and a guy got red carded from slapping some other guy. let them fight and it would make the ticket prices worth it
