I think I'm getting mom an Archos 70; or the 101 if it gets released in time.

She wants a way to view photos and check email, and they don't even have cell signal out at their house so no use in going Galaxy Tab...

if this is the style of a special lady in your life, it would be a hit!

deal is from slickdeals.com

Ashford has Women's Movado Series 800 Chronograph Watch w/ SS Bracelet for $249 after applying coupon code SLICKDM249. Shipping is free.

http://www.ashford.com/ashford/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=2600056&categoryId=cat5002&selectedColor=&selectedSize=&navCatId=cat6045&productId=2600056&navAction=jump&navCount=0

the website is acting wonky but maybe you'll have better luck

this is roughly what it looks like (couldn't link from ashford website)

thoughts on gifts when in a new relationship. I'm gauging if i should get something else or not.

I'm taking her to dinner and a theater show next week and then i got her something she said in passing that she's always wanted. It's more of a funny item than serious but i know she wants it. That may be enough as I don't want to over do it but maybe not.

How new is new? My last boyfriend we had only been dating for about 3 months when Christmas rolled around. I got him a DVD for $20 of a TV show he had mentioned liking as a kid but couldn't find a copy of anymore. The was super ecstatic and it didn't set me back much at all. The dick got me nothing in return

I'd say go modest...a TV show season or something like that. I had been dating for 2 months as of last Christmas, and ended up spending about $30-40.

This Christmas I bought myself a Droid and he bought a kinect. We fail at gift giving :/

i have no idea what to get my mom this year. Last year she dropped hints at wanting a fleece north face style jacket. So i got her a really nice Marmot one. I haven't seen it once this winter. she has everything she could possibly need for the hobbies she enjoys so i'm really at a loss.

hah I'm glad I read this thread. Again don't know what to give my sister and totally forgot about the hipster gift basket idea. I don't even remember what I ended up giving her last year. Never mind, just remembered I gave her a $50 gas gift card because she was constantly bitching about not being able to afford gas. Think I'll do that gift basket this year.

I remember when we were kids I gave her a log for Christmas and she was super pissed at me. I thought it was a hilarious gift I bet if I did it again this year she'd find it funny.

I decided to give my parents a gift certificate to Crook's Corner and Cafe Driade. They can have a fancy date night at a nice restaurant and I can not stress about wtf to get them for Christmas.

wolfpackgrrr, i have a hipster streak. if you need any ideas for your gift basket i have lots of diy stuff saved from blogs i can share.....

for starters... this is from the real simple gift guide

Quote :
"Mercury Owls
If you're looking for a decorative piece with a little extra sparkle, these mercury glass owls are a wise choice. For every purchase, West Elm will donate 50 percent of proceeds to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Available in two sizes.

To buy: Starting at $14, westelm.com."

you could anchor the gift basket with the owl & do diy for everything else. you could play with fonts & printables on the computer to print out the donation the purchase of the owl makes to include

and you could put everything in something hipster like a vintagy suitcase instead of an actual basket

here is a printable disguise kit. just print out & stick on some popsicle sicks or little dowels

http://pinterest.com/pin/9257468/

this is another fun lips printable

http://pinterest.com/pin/6166036/

OR if you're feeling extra crafty & can sew you could make a stocking. they're REALLY easy

here is a tutorial http://www.diaryofaquilter.com/2010/12/easy-stocking-tutorial-today.html

there are tons of hipster fabrics out there. you can order online from etsy, ebay or even fabric.com

i am guilty of owning several fabric cuts with prints such as antique keys, owls & birds

also we all know hipsters love bicycles

here is a tutorial for screen printing on a tshirt. i know you did some screen printing for your wedding welcome bags. you could screen print a bicycle on anything (maybe the stocking?) or even a pair of pj pants

http://kojodesigns.blogspot.com/2011/11/gfg-guest-tutorial-stenciled-bike-shirt.html

she uses a kit in the tutorial but you probably already know what to do

Love it! I think I'll definitely do that this year if she's coming home for Christmas. Otherwise I'll probably just send her a gift certificate.
