I'll be 10 weeks along tomorrow and my toddler turns 3 in January.I've barfed/gagged/hurled nonstop since 6 o'clock this morning. I even turned around half way to Moms Morning Out and came home.I see my OB/GYN today. I'm going to get another script for Zofran and see if that will make Thanksgiving bearable.
11/22/2010 9:07:14 AM
My insurance will only pay for 12 days of Zofran every 35 days. When I mentioned that to my doctor, she asked if I wanted to try Reglan. I took it approximately half an hour ago while extremely nauseated and right now, I feel kinda ok. Wow.
11/22/2010 6:11:46 PM
glad you're feeling better
11/22/2010 8:10:58 PM
I've always looked forward to being pregnant and having a baby. This thread makes me question that.
11/22/2010 8:13:49 PM
^ me too
11/22/2010 9:10:12 PM
Glad I can finally post this As of today we are in our second trimester My wife didn't really have any nausea or anything beyond a little crankiness when her blood sugar was low. It's a big waiting game on my end, but all in all it's been a pretty awesome experience so far.
11/22/2010 10:10:34 PM
congrats!
11/23/2010 12:29:41 AM
Yay!

This thread should make you think twice.People don't tell you about this stuff before it happens. I used to think how wonderful babies and pregnancy would be. Cute belly, lots of food, stretchy pants.Severe vomiting, constant, relenting nausea, insane heartburn/acid reflux where you can literally feel the food in your throat.Constipation. If you have never known this word, like me, it is a new form of hell.
11/23/2010 9:15:39 PM
I still want a baby despite this thread - which is surprising. I am sure I will have a bad pregnancy as in general my body does NOT handle hormones well (only BC I can taken is Yasmin - the estrogen/progesterone combo in the others makes me so sick.. ). When it happens I'll be sure to holla at this thread. I wish I could help you all.

Ashley - sorry to hear that you're so nauseated. I threw up every day (often more than once) when I was pregnant with Madison. I would start every morning hugging the tiolet (usually just dry heaving) and let it pass. Then I could usually manage to get some gatorade, decaf sweet tea or ginger ale/sprite down along with a butter english muffin. I would snack on little things all day to keep the vomitting at bay. (sliced apples/pears, raisins, granola bars, crackers, etc...) Sometimes tums helped. I had way too many food adversions. My main craving was italian ice - Harris Teeter carries italian ice popsicles and they were the best! (so weird)I had to order special prenatal vitamins so I could keep them down. Considering how much I threw up I was amazed at how big Madison was - 9 lbs 7 ounces! I'm starting to really want another one but we're not in a rush. It will probably be another two years so they'll be five years apart. Day care is so expensive there is no way we could afford it. I hope you girls feel better soon!

i definitely definitely still want a kid, no matter how rough the pregnancy. since i get nauseated so easy, i expect to be vomiting constantly lol. 2 girls at work recently had kids & neither of them had much nausea or vomiting. one of them had heartburn pretty bad but gaviscon worked well for her. she ate just about everything she normally ate, except hated mexican food. my SIL had a son a year ago & her pregnancy was pretty mild too. another one of my friends was super super sick though. she couldn't even walk without it making her nauseated. thankfully she was unemployed & didn't have to work anyway. i can't wait to have a kid.oh, i thought of another thing i did after my surgery (rib cage cut open to remove thymus gland, found out the hard way that i'm allergic to morphine, threw up for 2 weeks straight, heaving was the most scary & painful thing ever) was eat plain cheerios constantly. i kept a bag next to my bed & woke up several times a night just to keep at least a tiny bit of food in my stomach to keep me from getting even sicker. saltines were okay, but not nearly as easy to force down. the only 2 things i can eat when i'm really nauseated are plain cheerios & fudge rounds. yeah, weird.i hope y'all feel better soon. nausea is misery ]
11/26/2010 8:30:18 AM
^ Me and you are about in the same boat with the nausea thing. I get nauseated easily two - usually I do OK with bread type items, plain biscuit, saltines, loaf bread etc. I also have indigestion pretty bad as is. I too can't wait to have a baby. I think me and hubby may start trying next year. Hope you ladies are doing better.

General comment:Lay off the sugary foods/garbage during pregnancy... otherwise you are just creating kids who will probably become obese and unhealthy later on.Junk food when pregnant may make kids overeat: studyhttp://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL1437707820070814

Ugh. The Reglan has stopped working. This is my 3rd day of nausea and vomiting. I don't know how much longer I can keep this up. I've been home alone with my toddler all week long and I'm losing my mind. I feel impossibly overwhelmed.
12/3/2010 8:29:27 AM
Ever tried phenergan? It works well for my wife.
12/3/2010 10:13:13 AM
I just started phenergan yesterday. I had been avoiding it because of how sleepy it makes me, but I had to do something. It's easier to be a sleepy parent than a sick & weak parent.
12/7/2010 12:58:06 PM
not that i am in a position to need to do this, but what have been good resources for baby names? when i get bored, these are the kind of things i think about.

<3 the baby name wizard. we bought the book for our first pregnancy.
12/13/2010 5:08:58 PM
I offer my sympathy to you all. Have you tried things like ginger or seabands?
12/14/2010 10:13:26 PM
Yes. Nothing helps. In the first trimester, I lost 23 pounds. However, I'm just entering my second trimester and the nausea seems to be easing. *crosses fingers*

I asked permission first!
12/15/2010 5:54:24 PM
Yeah. I was frantically calling family.
12/15/2010 5:54:49 PM
and i was sitting 2 feet away from her on the couch.
12/15/2010 7:23:01 PM
phenergan is great for really bad hangovers lol
12/15/2010 7:58:16 PM
I'm still miserable. Vomited something awful last night. It is almost like the phenergan and zofran make it worse now.Congrats on the girl. I've got my fingers crossed for a boy but mainly for it to be out.
12/15/2010 9:00:56 PM
We have a baby boy due April 5th! All is well so far (*knocks on wood*) I can't believe how well my wife is doing so far. We're almost through the 2nd trimester and she hasn't been sick once, no food cravings, no food aversions, no mood swings. Best pregnant wife ever! Sorry to ^, I know it sucks to be sick all the time. My sister was sick through the whole pregnancy for each of her three kids.Best of luck to everyone!

Mariah Carey is expected twins.....all these celebrities are having twins it seems (with medical help), I guess it is the fad now with celebrities.]
12/18/2010 11:53:17 AM
The likelihood of twins, w/o medical help, rises w/ the age of the mother as well. So not having read any gossip columns, it might not be IVF twins.]
12/18/2010 12:48:38 PM
Thanks peoples. After two very early miscarriages it was good to see a little heartbeat in there this time.
12/18/2010 5:16:09 PM
[vent/blog]I absolutely HATE my OBGYN office. The doctors are fine but I hate the place. The waiting room is ancient and dirty feeling and it is always filled with the trashiest/skankiest people who insist on bringing their 18 kids to the waiting room. And the worst problem is the waiting. I seriously waited 2 hours today because all of the doctors were "out sick" except for mine. So the place was backed up and my appointment literally only lasted 20 minutes. A few questions, poke on the stomach, finger prick, weigh in, and doppler. But I have no other options. I live in podunk Columbus County and this is the ONLY obgyn here. I hate the thought of driving an hour to go anywhere else especially with the vomiting/nausea still happening. So I continue to go and continue to complain.[/vent/blog]

my wife is due w/ our first child, a boy, on jan. 5...starting to get really excited!

12/26/2010 11:05:07 AM
Grats!
12/26/2010 12:03:53 PM
Congratulations!Three months old today!Post pregnancy related: I enjoyed strong, healthy hair for about a year, now it's coming out in handfuls
12/26/2010 2:35:00 PM
She's precious and weird you mention that, I just read about hair falling out after the baby comes. If you breastfeed, ask your doc if it's okay to use biotin, an oral supplement you can find in the vitamin section, while you breastfeed. I use that for my hypothyroid cause I lose hair more often than most already, and it helps keeps my nails and hair strong. So I've been following this thread a bit already, and I feel so bad for bottombaby and ashley_grl I've been really lucky and my "morning" sickness was mainly in the evening and wasn't much more than getting a little gaggy at times; only vomited twice. I did spot a lot in the beginning which was really scary, but we heard the heartbeat and our OB said everything was ok and that just happens sometimes. And gosh was I TIRED. That was the main thing in 1st tri for me. I would get home from work and fall asleep on the couch as soon as I finished dinner Now that I'm in 2nd, I feel a lot better (rarely gaggy & energy is back) except I get a lot of headaches and my contacts get really uncomfortable.[Edited on December 26, 2010 at 5:55 PM. ^x4 Ha, been waiting for that. Congratulations officially
12/27/2010 9:09:59 AM
W00t. 15 weeks along and the horrible morning sickness has become just that MORNING sickness instead of all day sickness. I'm so glad to finally get some relief.
12/29/2010 12:45:04 PM
We had the 19 week ultrasound yesterday......its a girl.
12/30/2010 10:04:48 AM
