i had one of the NBA In the Zone games for PS2, played the hell out of itmy favorite 'modern' nba game has to be NBA Live 2003 for ps2, it had more of a video game feel to it and was just more fun, [UNSTOPPABLE: Ray Allen was...]

So I had 7 turnovers in the first quarter of the first game when you start it up.All from passes that would have easily connected in 2k10. Including passes that were behind the back of Worthy, who somehow used his spider sense to catch the ball behind his head.fucking annoying.
10/8/2010 12:06:01 AM
Directional passing in this years game is noticeably worse than the previous years (I.e just pushing the directional stick in the general direction of the open player you want to pass the ball to). This game all but forces you to hit the right bumper to ICON pass to your teammates. I am adjusting , but the last two years game not doing this may cause 1 or 2 turnovers s game, in 2k11 it will make you turnover the ball 5 times a quarter..having said that....this game is really great. The Jordan aspect of it has far surpassed my expectations. The game play is great and its much more defensive regarding the AI, which I think is a great improvement. The Jordan challenges are pretty fun but also pretty difficult.Overall its a great step up from an already impressive series...a must have for any NBA fan...

Is my Xbox glitching or you really can't change players while on defense during just regular games? If so, this game is for sale $40.It was glitching. I restarted several regular games, and then I started a Jordan Challenge game and defensive player-change started working like it should.[Edited on October 9, 2010 at 9:27 AM. Reason : /]

picked this game up today..great so far. tough to make jump shots though
10/9/2010 5:24:01 PM
so i havent bought an nba game for awhile..but with the buy 2 get 1, i'm not sure what to do
10/9/2010 8:06:25 PM
Wow, this is frustratingly hard. I can't shoot worth a shit... like 25%...

I FINALLY completed one of the Jordan Challenges - Bad Boys. Its probably the easiest in terms of challenge requirements.^ I feel your pain. I almost stop playing it. But what I did was just practice on a few moves then go play a game using only the few moves I practiced. The I would go practice a few more moves, then play another game... rinse repeat. I feel like I can play a game now, maybe not competitively but when a minimal level of competence. I came a long way in being able to complete a Jordan Challenge, and it feels quite rewarding.
10/10/2010 6:27:54 PM
Shit all I can do is make jump shots (mid range).I know they wanted to make it harder and more realistic, but when it's less risky to do some allen iverson and-1 dribbling to try to get a good shot than to make a couple of (what should be easy) passes then something is off. Also the computer has no problem completing half court outlet passes while your players stand around with their thumbs in their asses. But you try to pass it 10 feet to your open center and the computer makes some crazy diving interception out of nowhere.

Jordan vs Bird was awful haha.In 1 on 1 mode Bird always won because he could make almost every three pointer and with jordan you were forced to take it to the basket. Also, the rebounding was totally gay.The three pt shootout was somewhat fun but frustrating bc sometimes you had trouble picking the ball out of the rackThe slam dunk contest was hard as hell to execute the best dunks.I played bulls v blazers on the super nintendo with a buddy last month and was just destroying him with Jordan haha forgot how good that guy was but oh my god you are SO slow getting the ball down the court and so many charges that game sucks.NBA showdown (the following years version) was much better with more signature dunks, a regular season (bulls v blazers only had playoffs), season stats, etc.

I'm playing on pro (sometimes I bump it down to rookie in the 4th if I'm sucking extremely bad, lol) so the Jordan challenges aren't too hard. I've found it's actually harder to get 9 rebounds than 69 points, because Jordan can score pretty much at will but he's got a lot of great rebounders on his team you've got to compete with. I ended up having to put him at PF for a quarter.
10/11/2010 8:51:23 PM
I did Bad Boys, and now I'm about to finish the first one (vs. Celtics, score 63+, 6+ assists)I got over 63 points the other time I tried it, but only got 4 assists...I'm good to go this time
10/11/2010 10:06:51 PM
I do like how not every song is rap in this year's game.
10/13/2010 8:21:58 AM
A few things.- What is the best roster to use? Draft class? I know one or two of you guys browse OS but I don't know my ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to who puts out good rosters for 2k NBA games.- Is it a glitch that is going to be patched that when doing an Association as soon as you sim a game, the trade values on your team go down to 1-star? I worked at a deal for Steph Curry and immediately he went from 4.5-stars to 1-star, along with everyone else on my roster. The CPUs stay the same.- Anyone else able to hang through two quarters and then get blown off the court EVERY third quarter? Is it the AI team/coaches making adjustments that I just can't figure out? Or CPU cheating me?
10/13/2010 8:41:40 AM
What level are you playing? I've found that this game is approximately one difficulty level harder for me than previous versions. I normally play on legend, or whatever the second hardest level is, but in this game I'm on all star, the middle level. I'm getting good games and realistic stats, but I've been playing this game since the original version with Iverson on the cover. For rosters, I don't think they're are even any college bball video games out this year, so I'm not sure how you could import a draft class. I play 82 game seasons anyway and rarely make it to the second season, so this isn't an issue for me.The computer stealing every pass that isn't picture perfect does take some getting used to. Jason Kidd had 12 steals in my first franchise game. I've improved somewhat, but long gone are the days when you could blindly just whip the ball around the court.
10/13/2010 9:03:55 AM
This is only the second 2k bball game I've ever played (I had NBA 2k9 but rarely played it), but I'm on All-Star, so maybe I should tone it down to Pro? It's a turnover fest and the only way I can consistently pass to who I want to is by icon passing but that doesn't allow for the quickest of ball movement IMO.And the draft class was a custom one I saw in 2kShare. The ratings seemed pretty decent though some of the player names were off (Kimba Walker? Seriously?).Last game I played, I contained Andre Iguodala in the first half and held him to 11 points but he wrecked face coming out of halftime and went on a personal 21-4 run. I mean come on...
10/13/2010 9:18:55 AM
I agree the gameplay in 2K11 is harder than previous versionsHowever I have mainly been doing the Jordan Challenges, and obviously MJ can still put up points
10/13/2010 6:24:04 PM
This is the first bball game I have ever bought, and only the second sports game total. I bought NFL 2K5 back in the day, and I liked it a lot, but basketball is a better sports game to have on hand rather than football for me. Anyway, I have only been playing on Pro, and I am fine with that. I am going to start a season after I practice with Boston a little more, as all I have been doing are the Jordan challenges, which I think is worth half the price of admission to the game itself. I can see myself picking up playing a game here and there, and that's plenty enough for the money this game cost. Definitely worth $60 easily.
10/13/2010 6:56:38 PM
I think it would be more authentic when you played the Jordan Challenges if you played by the rules of the eraie, no defensive 3 seconds, 10-seconds to get it past halfcourt, etc
10/13/2010 7:30:24 PM
So I finished the Jordan challenges a couple days back and I'm now doing the Jordan Create a Legend mode.About 20 games into the season (5 min quarters and I've simmed about 1/3 of them) I'm playing the Thunder at home (I put Jordan on the Bulls) and just had an epic 3 overtime duel with Kevin Durant. It was freaking awesome. I scored 41 of my team's 83, along with 2 rebounds and 5 assists. Durant scored 48 of his teams 79, along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. We were ahead at the end of every period when Durantula hit a last second shot (Two of them were 3's). Finally the game ended when I blocked durant's tying layup with a few seconds left, then the crowd chanted MVP for the first time all season when I hit the two free throws to ice the game after getting fouled.
10/13/2010 8:38:01 PM
I'm still stuck on that Dominique challenge (although I've done 1 or 2 after that one)...even if I double team him all the time he still manages to get at least 26 points with the 8-minute quarters turned on...and if he gets it going early, Webb just tosses him unstoppable alley oops...getting more points than him and getting 5+ assists is pretty easy, its just holding their best player to 24 points in a 32 minute game thats my problem...tempted...to...lower...difficulty...level...but fuck that, I just need to get better at the game
10/15/2010 6:31:22 PM
Set your defense to double-team Wilkins.
10/15/2010 6:55:46 PM
Set Webb as your defense assignment and just let him go unguarded while you double up Wilkins the whole time. Webb will take jumpers and miss most of them.[Edited on October 15, 2010 at 7:11 PM. Reason : .]
10/15/2010 7:11:15 PM
BTW I did that challenge on Pro without doubling on Wilkins.

3:37http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUwDIn7TL_Y
10/15/2010 7:57:13 PM
I did all the challenges on pro except the one where you have to get 9 rebounds (I also had to put Jordan at PF for a quarter) and the one where you had to hold Drexler to 20 points.
10/15/2010 10:10:12 PM
^^whats so special about 3:37? you sure you didnt mean 4:00?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUwDIn7TL_Y#t=239s]
10/15/2010 10:40:16 PM
I meant 3:47
10/15/2010 10:41:06 PM
oh yeah the steal on Malone that was a big playthought you meant the layup past russell
10/15/2010 10:42:16 PM
I don't think younger people these days really realize what is was like to grow up in a era of Jordan in his prime and how nobody could dislike his and watched him play no matter what. Its really amazing that no sports figure has really ever did that in basketball ever but him, just the same as Tyson and Woods did it for their sports. Bobby Fischer is also in this class.
10/15/2010 10:46:10 PM
Shoot I dislike Woods. I also dislike Federer. If I watched Nascar I'd probably dislike Jimmy Johnson also.Underdog FTW.
10/15/2010 10:52:10 PM
I usually pull for the underdogs, but at the same time, love him or hate him, Jordan was exciting to watchalso apparently last night while i was drunk, i beat the dominique challengeso now i'm about to drop 55 on the Knicks[Edited on October 15, 2010 at 10:54 PM. Reason : .]
10/15/2010 10:54:26 PM
finally beat the MJ Challenges and drafted him to the Bobcats
11/3/2010 6:00:37 PM
this game is borderline not fun. on pro difficulty lebron should not be the only person on the heat who can make a fucking shot. wade and bosh SUCK.
11/19/2010 12:19:11 AM
i guess i just needed to bitch about it on the internet. won the next game by 30
11/19/2010 1:23:54 AM
Haven't played this game in a while, but I had a franchise going where I drafted a 7'5 guy with a good block rating at a decent outside game. After 2 years and training his outside shooting every training camp he's unstoppable in game even though his overall rating is only like 80.He's got a block rating of 82 so at 7'5 he can get 10 blocks occasionally with 6 minute quarters. And his 3 point shooting is like 70, but since centers rarely come out that far and anyone else guarding him is like a foot shorter, he shoots like 40% from 3.This is only when I actually play the games, in simulations he's just an average center.
11/19/2010 11:48:42 AM
Is there a way to simulate say, a week of games, in MJ Creating a Legend mode, without having to go to Play Next Game, then go to Quit, then go to Sim to End?If you go to the schedule you can look at box scores for past games, but I don't know of any way to sim games in the MJ Legend mode
11/22/2010 4:58:00 PM
I have made David Thompson in My Player mode...drafted 3rd overall in the 2nd round to the Kings, then I had them trade me to the Heat...I have my rating up to a 61 overall and moved into the starting lineupPG: WadeSG: DT44SF: LebronPF: HaslemC: Boshhelluva lineup
12/15/2010 8:13:53 PM
This game's controls are unspeakably bad and complicated. What a disappointment.
12/16/2010 2:13:25 PM
if you've played any other NBA 2K games they're not really much different
12/16/2010 2:47:26 PM

12/17/2010 1:14:55 AM
Ok, I generally suck at basketball games. Now that that's out of the way...My player is really, really hard. They don't even have mercy on noobs, making pro the easiest difficulty setting with no sliders... as far as I can tell. They ding you for every little thing and sometimes they even ding you for allowing your man to score, but you were clearly guarding him as the person across the court scored. Unless the arrow isn't pointing toward the man you need to cover. Any tips?
2/9/2011 7:51:35 PM
^Yeah it sucks how you start out as a point guard who can't make layups. And the MJ challenges are pretty awesome.
2/10/2011 10:56:14 AM
^^you can get your teammate grade up by setting a lot of picks and screens...early on when your stats suck, play slow and safe...work on offensive awareness and defensive awareness as far as increasing your stats...i'm a fan of midrange jumpers...and pretty much every drill i do i do the shooting drill, because to me its the easiest to get gold inlots of it depends on what type of player you have though, as far as "pass first point guard" or "defensive big man" or whatnot
2/10/2011 4:30:45 PM
Still addicted to this game. I'm on my 3rd season as My Player and going to play pickup games against other peoples player is the shit! I'm only an 82 overall, but I still can run with the '99's out there. Just like real pickup, just play within your own game. This is the best basketball game ever made in my opinion. Definitely room for improvement, but no previous game holds a candle to it I think. Anyone who is a fan of basketball in general should own this game!
2/11/2011 2:39:46 PM
I get a ton of errors when I try to connect to the 2K servers...I probably need to go in and delete some updates and have them re-download
2/11/2011 2:59:02 PM
I know what you mean...it connects 1out of every 3 or 4 tries for me. I'm actually relieved its not just me. But once connected, its the tits
