Yep, I spent two months in India (outsourcing of course) last year. It's funny if you get the culture...

I enjoy the show. Contrary to what someone else said, I don't think they took the easy route and jammed it full of Kwik-E-Mart stereotypes. There are a variety of different classic sitcom character types (that happen to be Indian) and the show mostly makes fun of American culture. It also captures (and exaggerates for comedic effect) some of the nuance of Americans working with Indians - specifically the relationship between Indian managers and their Indian subordinates compared to that between American managers and Indian subordinates. The show is smarter than most people realize if they haven't been in the situation before - which I fear will be its downfall.

I almost do the exact same thing for a living.

There is a mountain of hilarious shit that I encounter every day.

I don't think it's possible for a show to do a poorer job capturing that than this show does.

It's only gotten marginally better throughout the season. I don't know why I keep watching it. I guess I have a morbid fascination with it because I am Indian, and I work in what's essentially a call center like environment. Also I want to pee in Rebecca Hazelwood's butt.

I'm sure some of the funny stuff is probably out of line and they can't show it...

I work in stocks and the ticker for Walgreen's is WAG. This Indian guy is on a call discussing this stock and kept pronouncing it as vag. "I'm having problems with vag","I don't like vag", etc. Everyone in NY was losing it....

That's one thing I have no experience with - call centers - so perhaps they aren't doing a good job with that aspect and I just don't know/don't care.

I can't believe people watch this shit, but I guess it shouldn't be surprising considering the abominations CBS calls sitcoms regularly get 10 million+ viewers.

I like the show. Not my favorite and definitely wont win any awards, but its good for a laugh or two. You can also tell they are trying to improve it as they go.

Not every show I watch has to be emmy material.

Thanks, Watched this for the first time since the first 2 episodes. Show is better than I remember it but still the weakest NBC comedy.

Don't remember a sitcom blurring out naked people before.

^^Yea, I thought that blurring was weird. It's like they forgot they were on a broadcast network when they were filming or something.

Do you guys not realize they're just using the plot of a movie from 2006 by the same name.

I read the wiki on the plot so I think I know how this TV show ends. Won't ruin for you gluttons for punishment though.

I've never seen it on the office but I can't claim that I've seen every episode.

And I've seen it on a couple of shows but not a sitcom.

Just thought it was odd.

i just wikied him (Diedrich Bader) for no real reason. But it's pretty cool that his great grandfather was Edward Bader, former mayor of Atlantic City and a character in Boardwalk Empire.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/nri/us-canada-news/NBC-TV-fans-artists-launch-Save-Outsourced-campaign/articleshow/8243581.cms

Quote :
"It is the first primetime network show to be set in India, and has offered unprecedented opportunities for Indian American actors, writers and filmmakers. But "Outsourced" — the warm-hearted, silly and thoroughly entertaining NBC comedy airing Thursday nights — is in danger of getting cancelled.

It is expected that the show's fate will be decided by May 16, which is the first day of a week devoted to broadcast network "upfront" meetings, in which networks announce their fall schedules and pitch to advertising buyers to get as much advertising money "up front" as they can.

While most of the network's other comedies have either been renewed or cancelled, the fate of "Outsourced" is in limbo. The show had built up high ratings after its debut last fall, but NBC moved "Outsourced" to a 10:30 p.m. time slot, which many believe contributed to a slide in ratings.

Production on the show wrapped in February, and the season finale of "Outsourced" will air in two parts, May 5 and 12.

Members of the cast and crew of the show have spearheaded a campaign they call "Save 'Outsourced.'"

A Facebook page devoted to the cause (facebook.com/SaveOutsourced), as well as an aggressive e-mail campaign in the South Asian community and media, are imploring fans to write to SaveOutsourced@gmail.com. Mails will be forwarded to NBC entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt, to urge him to renew the show.

"I'm thrilled to see that fans are so passionate about saving the show," writer Geetika Lizardi told India-West in an e-mail. Lizardi is one of several Indian American writers working on the show.

"I think Indian Americans recognize that 'Outsourced' is a milestone for our culture, and that the campaign to save the show is about something bigger than just saving a show. It's about taking our place in American culture.

"For our parents, who immigrated to this country with so little, to see an entire show set in India is something they never imagined would happen in their lifetime. When you see something so meaningful happen, you don't want to lose it — you want it to go on and have a chance to really take root and go deeper.

"I hope NBC reads all the letters they are getting and gives the fans what they want: another season of 'Outsourced.'"

Rizwan Manji, who plays the backstabbing office manager Rajiv Gidwani on the show, told India-West by phone May 3, "Sometimes we [South Asians] are not as vocal as we could be. It's important to let the network know."

Variety reports that Mindy Kaling, an Indian American producer/writer/actress on the Emmy Award-winning NBC comedy " The Office," called "Outsourced" "must-see desi TV."

Robert Borden, one of the show's executive producers, told the LA Times Show Tracker blog that he feels "Outsourced" deserves another season. "I feel really good about where we are creatively with the show. It doesn't have any of that first-year, 'get out the kinks, have a bad half-season' kind of situation. We're finishing strong. As far as what the network thinks, I know they're happy."

But he added that the network's decision to move the show to the 10:30 p.m. time slot was problematic. "It's definitely a challenging time slot to grow. If you add in our DVR numbers, we've actually done quite well."

Borden is referring to the trend of viewers recording the show to watch it later. Entire episodes of "Outsourced" can currently be seen on NBC.com and Hulu.com, but also on viewers' personal digital video recorders. The comedy recently led the adults aged 18-49 ratings percentage increase from DVR viewing, adding a 57 percent gain to its so-called "Live+Same Day" ratings for adults aged 18-49.

Manji also stressed the importance of the DVR ratings. "People do watch the show. They love the show," he told India-West. "But the network needs to know that the time slot is a challenge."

On the Web site SaveThatShow.com, where viewers are polled on which TV shows deserve to be renewed, "Outsourced" ranked in the number two spot after the ABC drama "No Ordinary Family," as of press time.

"Outsourced" was nominated for a 2011 National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications "Vision Award" for Best Performance-Comedy, based on a highly diverse judging panel and awarded each year to shows that best portray and celebrate diversity and inclusiveness in its stories
Rajan Shah, cofounder of South Asians in Media, Marketing and Entertainment, says he feels confident that a write-in campaign may save " Outsourced."

"This year, Fox's 'Fringe' and NBC's 'Chuck' and 'The Event' had big fan and cast campaigns. Joshua Jackson, the lead actor for 'Fringe,' played a big role telling fans to watch and write in if they want to see the show next season," Shah told India-West in an e-mail.

"'Outsourced' is the first TV show I have seen where South Asian fans are speaking out. It's great to see the fans get involved this way."

Other members of the cast and crew have issued statements appealing to fans to write.

Show creator Ken Kwapis said in a statement that the show is "the only comedy on U.S. television populated almost entirely by South Asian characters. Some people wondered whether this would be a hurdle for viewers; quite the opposite occurred: the audience has fallen in love with our ensemble and are rallying to keep it alive. We are thrilled, and encourage them to weigh in so we can celebrate with another season."

In India, the word "thoroughly" has the same meaning as "intermittently."

I dvr this show and usually make it through the whole episode. Sometimes it's ok and sometimes it sucks, but at least it's not Perfect Couples or the Paul Reiser show.
