2 wins a row.

We need this win badly with what we've got coming on our schedule.

I predict another close game. Cincinnati is still adjusting to the new coaching staff, but they have talent and Callaros and company are going to test our secondary. Wilson and the offense should be able to move the ball better, but we need some decent OL play.

Special teams needs to play better too. Graham needs to actually catch the ball on the run on kick-offs as opposed to catching it, then taking off. Ruiz was getting good hang time on his punts, but of course the distance was crap.

Score:
NC State = 38
Cincinnati = 35

Wilson with a big game, Jarvis finally wakes up, and State makes enough plays on defense to hang on for a victory.

Oh yeah Jaybee, it was GREAT seeing your panzy Volunteers get lit up by the Oregon Ducks this past wknd!

..and on to the Cincy game, their QB is for real, its going to be a tight game but I say

Pack 35
Cincy 25

Wilson, and co. find their rhythm while Irving, Manning and Cole start to assert their authority! GO PACK!

Overgaard is listed as the starter on the most recent depth chart, not sure that means a whole lot though. Also someone on PP claimed that TOB asked an independent doctor to do blood tests on 2 players, not sure if it has legs or not though.

ABC/ESPN exercised their 6-day option...kickoff times will be announced by noon Sunday.
The games in question for that day are:
NC State at Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech at Boston College
Wake Forest at Florida State
North Carolina at Rutgers (Big East contract)

Hard to call with those first 3...We could be the 3:30 ABC game, the noon Jefferson Buttfuck game or the primetime ESPN game

Espn has boners for FSU and VT, but maybe their struggles will give our game a bigger slot...then again, GT shit the bed too

I agree. Our front seven proved itself on Saturday - we contained the run and put pressure on the QB most of the game. (It wasn't 'til Godfrey came in with fresh legs did we start getting burnt.) I think we'll be all right.

Our secondary will definitely be put to the test this game. Coach Butch Jones will be aware of our fluke 5-turnover performance against UCF. But he won't be afraid to air it out and give Callaros the ropes to the offense. I think we'll be lucky to get two turnovers this game.

I think our O-line is still too young and shitty to give Russell the time to get good throws off. Granted, UCF's pass rush is pretty stout, explaining why he went 10-30 for 100-some-odd yards.

I think Cincinnati racks up 250+ yards passing and three passing TD's - I'll give them a FG too.
I'll take Czajkowski for 2 FG's, Haynes/Greene for 1 rushing TD, and RW for 2 passing TD's.

NC State: 27
Cincinnati: 24

I wonder how much of Wilson's stuggles Saturday were due to defensive pressure and how much of it was just plain bad decision making + rust from playing baseball. He prob should have been intercepted at least twice and made a lot of uncharacteristically bad decisions.

Here's to hoping it was just a fluke game for RW and that he's gotten his bad game out for this year...because everyone's going to have a bad game sometime.

We should get the prime time slot out of that list. Nobody wants to see BC and VT play for the 1000th time since joining the ACC, especially at BC. Wake has nothing when they don't have plucky underdog hype and FSU lost its TV appeal when Ponder tanked his Heisman chances

Just win Thursday. That's what I'd do

^I don't think it's a coincidence that RW has struggled against all the sick defenses with a lot of speed off the edges and/or guys who can dominate our line. All his bad games have come against SoCar, Clemson, VPI and now UCF. Nothing wrong with that, not many QBs can put up killer numbers every week. He has shit on UNC, of course

No shit ass clown. I realize it is possible to get to 25 pts in football, but that is a difficult score for a team to finish with in a typical game. Most people when making score predictions do not pick non-routine scores. Usually you see a lot of 24, 21, 28, etc. How fucking likely is it that UC is going to kick 6 FGs?

I know a guy that participates in a NFL league where each person picks a team at the beginning of the season. If that team finishes any game with 29 pts they win the pot assuming no other team has finished a game with 29pts first. Once the pot is emptied, they pay up again and start over.

"It was clear that O'Brien and offensive line coach Don Horton were searching for some stability at RT on that side of the line, an in-game experiment that probably won't happen on Thursday night.

"Putting four different guys over there is probably something we shouldn't have done," O'Brien said. "I think it's better keeping guys where they are and be strong at the spots that you have and if you have a weak spot, not try to fix that spot at the cost of hurting another position. I don't think I'd do that again.""

trying to move Jake over to RT must be to get Crisp in at LT on the same line. looks attractive on paper, but not too sure it worked out if the 2nd half was any indication...

a Cincinnati fan's scouting report:

Quote :
"So as I've said in a few other threads, I moved to Orlando last year and am in my first year as a UCF season ticket holder (to get my football fix when I can't fly north).

I went to the UCF-NC State game tonight, and while I spent the afternoon drinking rum & Coke and watching the big games, I came away with a few notes...

- NC State's TE #84 is an absolute monster! George Bryan - 6'5", 265lbs. He only caught 3 passes for 35 yards - but good YAC, simply because of his size. Could be a target, especially if UC shuts down their running game.

- Through 2 games, I can safely say that UCF has a pretty solid run defense. Nonetheless, NC State rushed 40 times for 3.4 yards per carry. No crazy breakaway speed (at least that was shown tonight), but it looks like they can hammer the ball if/when they need to burn the clock.

- Their QB looked pretty terrible - 10/30 for 105 yards and a TD. He took some big hits tonight, one sack in particular where he was completely blindsided, so hopefully he'll still be sore and has a similar night on Thursday.

- No turnovers

- Once UCF put in their young, mobile QB (very fast, but I'd say ZC has equal or better skills), NC State didn't know what to do. They managed to come back from 7-28 to 21-28 and drove to the 10 yard line w/ ~1 minute to go, before a WR fumbled a pass to end the game. That said, as long as ZC scrambles UP field and not backwards, I think that there's potential for a confidence booster and he could wind up with 50+ yards rushing. Before the mobile guy was in, UCF's "pro style" QB was pressured a lot on the blitz...NC State's D coordinator will no doubt bring the pressure after watching Fresno game tape.

I won't be quitting my day job anytime soon, but there's my scouting report. If you get the CBS college sports station, the game will certainly be rebroadcast throughout the week if you want to watch for yourself.

Can't wait to hop on a plane Thursday morning and watch the Bearcats live for the first time this season!"

are they talking about Jay Davis/Marcus Stone/Daniel Evans, or Russel Wilson?

"NC State scares me a little. Are we a better team than they are? Absolutely! However, they (like Fresno State) play up to their competition in what they consider big games. Remember they beat the same Pitt team that we beat by only one point last year. They are trying to build their program and get respect much like us. When they face games like this, you will frequently hear terms like “the biggest game in the program’s history”. "
