I said "right much more" the other day and my coworker about fell out laughing. Didn't realize that was a southern thing.
1/8/2018 7:14:19 PM
Lord have mercy. Bonus if it's combined into one word "ahlawdhamercy."
1/8/2018 8:09:38 PM
I'm familiar with (and have used) most in this thread, except for "two rats humpin' in a wool sock". That's awesome.I would also like to add "again" to replace "against", i.e. "just lean it up again that wall"Also "_______ faster than a cat licks its ass", as in "he'll tell a lie faster than a cat licks its ass"
1/8/2018 8:39:09 PM
He got a wild hair up his ass

My grandma is 102 . Not sure if this is an old thing or a country thing but she says strangled instead of choked. For example she will take a sip of water and go into a coughing fit and say "that water strangled me!" She's old so everyone just lets it go but it sounds funny to me. She is a big user of yonder and brickbat too.
1/8/2018 10:49:30 PM
Also, do not give her brazil nuts unless you want to hear a 102 year old drop a racial slur. Not a mean bone in her little body but she is stuck in a different time.
1/8/2018 11:11:49 PM
^ lol my grandmother uses the same expression for Brazil nuts
1/8/2018 11:54:03 PM
I’ve heard many black folks call them something besides Brazil nuts...
1/8/2018 11:55:56 PM
My grandmother used the same term for them. I remember my parents fussing at her for it when I was young. She would also use "yens'" instead of "y'all." They were from straight up Appalachia. Bumbs instead of bombs, etc. When I find old pictures of my family, it's like you're looking at a stereotype of mountain folk.
