ummm why isn't this in any theaters around where I live?
12/14/2010 10:00:10 AM
Same here...been out for two weeks and none of the theaters within 30 mins of me have had it yet. I'm sure it will get here eventually though. I heard one of the theaters near me was getting it this weekend I just haven't seen it advertised there yet.[Edited on December 14, 2010 at 10:11 AM. Reason : .]

Nice! I just scored some passes for Thursday as well.

This finally showed up for this weekend at a theater near me. The wife and I will probably see it Friday or Saturday.

Really enjoyed it. Was not expecting to jump as much as I did.
12/16/2010 10:55:45 PM
I thought it was very good, but not great. The filming is excellent, however. It is definitely a thriller, with horror elements.
12/16/2010 11:09:19 PM
A thriller with:horrorcomedygreat musicgreat costumesand girl girl action
12/17/2010 1:25:29 AM
Just saw it last night. That movie psychologically punched me in the throat. The cinematography and overall mood of the story just grabbed you from the beginning and wouldn't let go. The director definitely achieved his portrayal of someone feeling completely alone and driven to insanity by the pressure of her situation. The lesbian scene didn't hurt either hah. Seriously, this movie will affect your mind for a while

just got back. movie was absolutely awesome in all aspects.
12/17/2010 10:07:57 PM
It seems I need to see this.....
12/17/2010 11:08:39 PM
Saw this last night. Amazing. Aronofsky is bar-none my favorite young director right now. This movie is done so perfectly IMO.
12/18/2010 6:39:17 PM
^Glad you got on board while he's still "young" and 41.
12/18/2010 7:22:56 PM
Haha, good point...young-ish, I guess. I've been on board big time since The Wrestler, though.
12/18/2010 10:17:26 PM
The Wrestler came out like two years ago...?Your sense of time is totally whacked, dude. But it's cool.
12/18/2010 10:46:56 PM
Right...I know it did. I've really been on board with Aronofsky for about two years. That was in response to "glad you got on board," not the age thing. I think 40 is relatively young for a director. I could be wrong, though.[Edited on December 18, 2010 at 11:52 PM. Reason : .]

You couldn't get on board with Pi or Requiem?Maybe even The Fountain (I liked it, but I know some that didn't) before the Wrestler?
12/19/2010 8:03:53 AM
Movie was really good, but kind of confusing. 2 Thumbs up!
12/19/2010 9:37:26 AM
^^Oh, don't get me wrong, I loved Requiem and I thought Pi was interesting. I meant to say he wasn't one of my favorites until The Wrestler. I had liked him on the strength of those two movies (haven't seen The Fountain, but it doesn't look appealing to me), but he really became one of my favorites (like top 3) with The Wrestler.I mean, it usually takes a couple movies that I love for a director to work his way up my list. Now, with Black Swan, Aronofsky has only to contend with the Coen Brothers for the title of my #1 favorite director(s).[Edited on December 19, 2010 at 12:43 PM. Reason : .]

wasn't feeling this movie. the whole "is this real or a hallucination" thing got old after the 50th time.
12/19/2010 1:34:46 PM
So far I'd say my favorites from Aronofsky rank:The FountainThe WrestlerBlack SwanRequiemPiI really liked Black Swan, but I have a few minor issues with the script.

The Wrestler is Aronofsky's best by a lot.The Fountain is Aronofsky's worst by a lot.

12/20/2010 7:32:15 AM
I have a lot of friends that don't like The Fountain. Not liking this movie is quite fashionable. Perplexing.
12/20/2010 5:35:46 PM
aronofsky if my favorite director but i fell asleep during the fountaini was insanely hungover, need to watch it again
12/20/2010 5:56:47 PM
saw Black Swan last night--great, great flick. I liked The Fountain overall, but I can understand the qualms with it.

Fashion just indicates a trend here, particularly with the number of people that the story did not speak to. Perhaps I'm being too critical since I found the experience so touching. This movie is very polarizing, as it carries"love" or "hate" camps. I just wonder what it is specifically that is "not good" with the film. I understand it ain't for everyone.
12/21/2010 11:48:09 AM
yea, no worries. my last post was more of a jest anyway Like I said, it's not that I thought it was really a bad movie, just my least favorite out of his. It has been awhile since I've seen it now to be able to comment on specifics but in general all of his other movies had me engrossed the film the entire time while that one I just didn't feel as drawn in. Maybe I'll re-watch it soon since my wife has never seen it.
12/21/2010 11:56:06 AM
Spoiler:A little confused about the end, did she throw herself at the mirror?

just saw the movie...really enjoyed itthey definitely beat you over the head with the white/black metaphor and the symbolism of mirrors.still, thumbs up
12/22/2010 12:02:22 AM
I liked it quite a bit, but I think it's my least favorite Aronofsky movie so far. That could change with time, though. Need to think on it.
12/22/2010 7:10:22 PM
So far I'd say my favorites from Aronofsky rank:PiRequiemBlack SwanThe Wrestlerpassed on The Fountain
12/23/2010 2:23:59 AM
1: the wrestler2-4: those other three5 by a lot: the fountain
12/23/2010 2:31:36 AM
This movie was probably the most uninteresting and boring film I've seen in quite a while. The entire time I was thinking this is not as clever or as deep as the director thinks it is.Had I not been there with someone I would have actually left before it was over. And I never do that.
12/23/2010 8:37:41 AM
Good movie
12/23/2010 11:00:48 AM
^^i think you were just scared
12/23/2010 1:01:38 PM
Does this movie have tits?
12/23/2010 3:38:51 PM
12/23/2010 5:05:28 PM
I liked it better then inception. It could have done without natalie portman crying all the time (is that the only thing she has mastered?), but great Idea and execution.
12/23/2010 8:48:30 PM
If you're worried about the amount of times someone cries in a movie I would hope you know not to blame the actress...either way I didn't notice that being a problem and think she is a great all-around actress. One of the best.[Edited on December 23, 2010 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]
