Without having watched the debate tomorrow, I am confident that I will not be voting for Richard Burr in November; however, I will watch it anyway.
10/10/2010 11:28:07 PM
Well, I was gonna watch it.Is it not streaming online anywhere? I checked wtvd's website, but I didn't see it.
10/11/2010 7:16:20 PM
Its on TV of course, and on their website here:http://www.wral.com/news/video/8435557/NBC will have debates soon too, so you'll get another chance at watching a full debate live. There is still about half of this one left though.[Edited on October 11, 2010 at 7:29 PM. Reason : .]

Thanks. Watching the replay now.

I think my favorite part was Carl Kasell's voice on your home answering machine as debate moderator.

^Forgot to mention, it starts at 8 pm. I'll be finishing up a midterm at the time, so someone should post about how its going so I can catch up quick when I get back. Hopefully NPR will be broadcasting it too so I can catch part of it on the way home. I heard they did with the last debate, so maybe they will here too.I'm glad NBC is letting the Libertarian guy play, even if the 2 WRAL debates aren't.

Sorry for the posting spree, but just saw this:

Beitler is going to embarrass the two "electable" candidates, if they give him a chance to speak.
10/13/2010 5:48:46 PM
^Good.
10/13/2010 5:49:46 PM
Burr weaseled out of the TARP question, right after coming out against what he called, "TARP junior."
10/13/2010 8:10:55 PM
Double post and all, but the ineptitude of politicians never ceases to amaze me. How can someone be work in government for 15+ years (or however long Marshall and Burr have been doing it) and have such a shaky grasp on the issues? Burr had this shit eating grin on his face the entire time - he seems like an all around dumbass, and he strikes me as insincere. Marshall said some things I liked, but on most of the questions, she was extremely vague. I want to hear some specifics. Of course, I liked Beitler, but he didn't adequately answer the question on rising insurance premiums or jobs, and he wrongly criticized Marshall for being pro-war, in a "guilty by association" kind of way.I think the award for dumbest thing uttered goes to, "America was built great..."

Here's the debate in full (its divided into 3 parts). This had more back and forth than the first debate, and included more candidates. Definitely worth watching:http://news.mync.com/site/news/video/12198/NC%20US%20Senate%20Debate,%20Pt.%2001/http://news.mync.com/site/news/video/12199/NC%20US%20Senate%20Debate,%20Pt.%2002/http://news.mync.com/site/news/video/12200/NC%20US%20Senate%20Debate,%20Pt.%2003/

One of the last, if not the last, fundraising messages I expect to get from this campaign. Thought I'd pass it on since its nearly the last, and b/c its about the deciding factor in the race (can they buy a competitive amount of tv time).

Her only message is to kick the bums out, and if she was running against a Dem she probably would win. That is really her only message.....and I think Burr will win by 5-10pts

The elections results party for Elaine Marshall will be at the Brownstone Hotel, 1707 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. Its not too far from the Bell Tower, just down the street towards down a short distance. A cash bar will be available.Of course its free to get in, and open to the public. It starts at 7:30pm. Brad Miller should be making an appearance there too.
11/2/2010 6:50:05 AM
Team Marshall!
11/2/2010 10:03:57 AM
Burr sucks, but Marshall was an absolutely horrible opponent to run against him.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/255628/burr-ensign-back-dadt-repeal-robert-costaVoted FOR DADT repeal. WTG!
12/18/2010 6:00:48 PM
He opposed it every step along the way, and voted against it in the only vote that mattered. He voted against repeal as a part of the Defense Bill (the same kind of bill it was born many years ago) back in September, and he voted against it on the cloture vote now as a stand alone bill. He was an enemy of DADT repeal and did nothing to help it pass. And even with his vote he still spoke about DADT repeal as if it was a bad thing. Its like, after Obama won, McCain gave a call congratulating Obama on winning. You might say it was a respectable thing to do, but its a far cry from calling him an Obama supporter for doing something supportive after it had already been decided. He will be remembered as a DADT repeal opponent to most of the people who wanted DADT repeal.
12/19/2010 12:43:24 AM
So he gets +1 after a -10 record on this vote.Bringing the total to a -9.Sounds about right.
12/19/2010 10:18:28 AM
ol' dick burr gonna start some investigations?
1/13/2017 8:51:04 PM
Can we take a minute to recognize Senator Burr? I don't agree with a lot of his stances on issues, but at a minimum he has atleast conducted himself, as Chairman of the Sen. Intel. Cmte., like an adult that is interested in conducting oversight rather than partisan hysterics and obfuscation. I know that's a low bar, but when you compare him to some of the other folks that are in a similar position, He has been a way better representative for his constituents.

I agree.
