^^you know what I mean...im comparing the fashion shows here to those in NYC and LA. They arent on the same level.and yes...there are a tonnnn of people who pay to be a model, john casablanca and all those other agencies out there. if you are a contract model (ford, elite, etc) they pay YOU. theres just no comparison when you speak of models here with those in NYC.sure the girls here are models, just not on the same level is all i am saying...he tried to say they were equal.

^^ you're as good a photographer as the people who do yearbook pictures, you have no talent with a camera and the pictures you take and the way you've obsessed about some of the girls on this site are fucking creepy. i haven't seen all of your photography, but the stuff that you've posted that you are proud of are fucking terrible. i will agree that joie has done some great photos, in fact even the stuff that she has done with friends just for fun is better than anything than you have ever done.in conclusion, you are fucking creepy and you are a terrible photographer who takes creepy pictures of mediocre women in front of olan mills backdrops. please leave this site and never return.[Edited on August 9, 2010 at 11:19 PM. Yea I'm in a photography club and several guys do portraits/model shots on the side and that shit looks WAY better than the best stuff I've seen you do. I'm so glad Ronny called you out on the specifics, because I'm certainly not an expert but I'm sure most of the photographers on here could do that 10x better than you.

I can assure you the two girls in that picture of reputable photographers did not get paid.I know one of them and she hasnt ever been paid for a photo shoot or for walking.yes, being in a fashion show means you were in a show...but that doesnt mean you are a model at all.there is a HUGE difference you just dont understand it. if they arent on contract with a major company then to me they arent models, they just simply wear clothes or take pictures for someone.its a hobby compared to a career or living.
8/11/2010 1:17:31 PM
huh? there are definitely girls making money as models in raleigh.
8/11/2010 1:21:41 PM
I doubt that. highly...and if they are they probably dont live in raleigh anymore at least not all the time.and its certainly not their main income.[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 1:28 PM. Reason : b]

she been paid for shows in raleigh, is that not your definition?
8/11/2010 1:40:51 PM
^^again, extending your hard on you have for me? its creepy.^She is a contract model that is the difference. She has a legit contract and the majority of her shoots, probably 90% arent even in NC.[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 1:45 PM. Reason : l]
8/11/2010 1:43:02 PM
that one was, her current profile pic was as well actually maybe not. you're just making stuff up and i can't figure out why.so your position is there are no models in nc except for the models. got it.^is that an austin jade show? she might not have been paid for that, but she has been for others. but to me there's a difference in getting paid to model occasional events....and actually making a complete living off of modeling. I know a couple people that have gotten paid for shoots, but I dont know a single person in Raleigh that makes a complete living off of their modeling (with the exception of strippers)
8/11/2010 1:47:41 PM
ha ha I "modeled" when I was younger. I got paid but never much, and I did walk a few times. But then I got old ugly and fat, and a big case of don'tgiveafuckitis. I really feel sorry for girls that fall for this unreal shit. Also I guess that I would put Joie in the category of model. Like the major vs. minor leages thing.I like Joie

I saw this thread on Monday and was at Jordan Lake pulling to boat out to clean it. I beached the boat near the ramp and noticed a guy with a not so attractive femail taking photos. She was topless hiding her breast with a shirt and showing her back fat and tramp stamp. They guy had lights and evena changing tent. This thread came to mind and I laughed out lout and said " I am going to make you famous"They looked but that was all.

Having done the photography thing for a while and have both shot pro and amateur models, I'll tell you this, it's miles of difference in what a pro can do in a short period of time when they are on the stage (photoshoot that is). Shit, the good pro's that get paid thousands of dollars per hour know their shit, no matter how bitchy they are behind the scenes, when that camera is in front of them and you tell them where the main light, fill and hair lights are, they do their magic. It's a wonderful thing when you really don't have to direct them because they know what they are, or in that matter you, going to get in terms of the camera angle and pose. First time I shot a pro, I think I didn't say more than 5 words the whole time shooting, just kept adjusting the light and say "ok, go". Just shot after shot of good stuff. That's when a photoshoot is fun because you treat your model like a lifeless prop. It may sound harsh, but it's annoying when you shoot someone that isn't a pro and have to keep directing them then shoot, then direct, then shoot because they don't know or aren't experienced enough. I like it when a shoot goes well because of planning. I may setup 2-3 hours in terms of lighting in studio or on location then when the model comes up, I would have already told her what I want and how I'm going to do it; then only shoot for like 5-15 mins, maybe a few tweeks with the lighting, but if I get the lighting right and I know what I want, I can be done within 100 shots with probably 30 selects. When I was assisting a few pro photogs in Miami this past year, I ended up chatting with one of the main models that was based out of LA, she constantly worked in LA, Miami and NY, that's about where all the big ad agencies are anyways. She got paid 15k a day on an 8 day long shoot. Atlanta also has a big model population since a lot of magazines have their HQ based there, but in terms of Raleigh, we aren't on the map, just a blip. Shit Highpoint/Greensboro is bigger than Raleigh in terms of modeling usage since they have the large photo studios out there, but they are going the way of the dodo.If you are a model, you will have a very tough time trying to make a decent living here. Plain and simple. There's very little actual pro talent or pro jobs and even then, most of the commercial photographers that I know that work in NC all fly their models in if it's a big job. Most of them don't like that Raleighwood company, the real world modeling agency using real life people, mainly because they charge close to pro rate for non-pro people.I've done a lot of modeling work for fun, well because I enjoy it. Doesn't pay the bill and really hard to make it work around the NC area for that creative aspect, but it's great to work with someone new and come up with neat ideas to shoot. While I've tried to make photography my career and have done it for a while in the real world, the glamour of it is kind of gone for me. Sure its fun shooting some half naked chick on the beach, but to do it right and the photography quality that I want to produce out of it, it really tends to be a shit ton of work for one person and gets you thinking 'wtf am I doing this again?'To me, I'm taking a break from it and following another passion of mine with the Marines. Funny enough, the second that I leave is when I get 20 job offers. Go figure.[Edited on August 11, 2010 at 8:09 PM. Reason : ]
