Tuned up my nitro tc3 with an .18 motor........runs like a beast. Might NOT sell it now. At least have to wait for fixed Mamba to come back before I give it up.........My RC10 B3 buggy now has electronics in it so it runs too. So I could in theory race it at the dirt track?Building a TC4 with the Mamba 5700kv system, once Castle returns the repaired one that I broke. This TC4 will have blue alloy all over the place. I essentially have all the parts on 2 different cars, so I need to combine them on one car. This car will ownzer all at Fuquay on Friday Nights!Currently going to sell my old Tamiya Corvette TA-04 on eBay[Edited on September 21, 2010 at 8:10 AM. Reason : tc4]

Yeah, you could run out at Cape Fear, however they dont have a 1/10 buggy class...but you could race in the "Run what ya brung" class. It's something I got them to start a few weeks ago...It's a non-competitive class where you can run whatever car you want. I think it also might be free to race that class.Do you have a personal transponder?
9/21/2010 8:26:40 AM
sold it earlier this year when I was not making any money. I don't think I will 'race' anytime in 2010 anyway. I'll get something on ebay if/when I need a transponder.

yeah i will have my ntc3 tonight with me. I know who you are talking about too.......
9/24/2010 8:27:27 AM
Haha, it's definitely one of my more expensive hobbies. You can get away with not spending a TON if you're not super competitive and just want to have fun. Easier said than done though
9/24/2010 8:27:52 AM
SoundBoy, your pops didn't run anything, he said he needed to fix the car and get good tires. We chatted for quite a while, he was impressed how quick my nitro tc3 was running and the tires I was using. Where is he/are you from??
9/24/2010 11:00:58 PM
Headed down to Thunder Alley Race Way in Wilson today. They canceled the race at Cape Fear today, so there should be quite a large crowd at Thunder Alley.I picked up an HPI Blitz a few weeks ago, so this will be my first time racing SCT. Of course i'll be racing my 8ight-E too.

Cool, we're both from Puerto Rico but we've been here for like 20 years now. He seems pretty happy with his tc3 right now aside from it chewing up his tires all the time. Plus he's thinking he wants one of those bigger 1:8th scale cars since that's all they've been racing down there since he showed up. We just finished up his new M3 body, you may see him sporting this baby next friday:
9/25/2010 12:15:07 PM
I have that body too but dont run it. Its also silver. Maybe I should to confuse everyone next time half the guys with the 1/8 cars cannot drive at all. I really wish Otto would require a test that I show people, going in and out of parking lot lanes to prove you actually CAN drive the car with TURNS and not just in a straight line.......The 1/8s they run are the on road versions from Kyosho that are variants from 1/8 buggies, adapted to on road honestly. NOT the 2wd pan designed true awesome 1/8 that use prototype bodies. Now those guys are awesome!
9/25/2010 1:05:30 PM
Ended up getting 4th in E-buggy. Nobody else had a shortcourse truck at Wilson on Saturday, so they didnt run that class.I've been using a Futaba 3pdf (FM) for a while now with no glitching problems at all, but for some reason I was glitching like crazy at that track, so I ended up picking up a Spektrum DX3S (with telemetry). This thing is sweeeeeet....shows my RPM, motor temp, etc. right on the controller while i'm driving.
9/27/2010 6:09:30 PM
i'd get that radio next. maybe next year. its crazy what this stuff can do nowadays
9/27/2010 6:58:31 PM
got the new mamba tonight, after i returned home from running in fuquaydude your dad was running great tonight and was probably the second fastest car out there!
10/2/2010 12:36:45 AM
Apparently he's getting the hang of it. I'll be out there with him this coming friday for moral support
10/4/2010 3:57:27 PM
cool. i will have my tc4 and my nitro tc3 as always. I might confuse everyone and run the same exact body with silver color on my nitro tc3 lol
10/4/2010 8:50:45 PM
Hey Robert when you were leaving I wanted to ask you guys about the setup your dad had on his car last weekend, and I probably looked like a jerk when I didn't look at you when you said bye! Sorry!Anyway, what tires did your dad finally get that were doing so well last week? I need to buy some more and it looks like he found something that actually works.
10/9/2010 8:12:46 AM
No sweat dude i caught you when you were racing as i was heading out It was cool meeting you. Sorry for the late reply i've been in texas for a week, i'm not sure what tires he's going with now , he did have a new set though. He didn't run much his gears went to shit like 20 minutes into it. Ask him next time you see him though and he'll let you know.We painted two new bodies for him too, a lamborgini gallardo and a supra that turned out sweeet, i'll upload some pics when i take them.
10/14/2010 11:45:57 PM
spectacular rolling crash your dad had! Tore the left rear hub carrier to pieces. I have spares. for the version 2 rear endhe has the ver 1 rear endHe will be getting the ver 2 conversion kitran my ntc3 for a long time with no problems. Not a big turn out which is fine by me, less likely to get destroyed by the big cars. I want to ask Otto if we can have some sort of classes so we don't have to worry about such things.........[Edited on October 16, 2010 at 10:43 AM. Reason : classes]

ok its getting too cold at night for grip I am going to the track in Durham that closed down 2 years ago and see whats left. Its worth a shot to see if we can clean it up and maybe test and run out there on weekends. I don't have any idea what to expect but I am bringing a broom and some tools and my cameraand cars tooits much closer to where I live than FV anyway. Before I decide to race again, need to get my skills together vs trying to not get hit by 1/8 nitro cars
10/23/2010 12:18:24 PM
what time you headed out there?
10/23/2010 12:35:45 PM
I was already there. Didn't need but 30 seconds to decide it was a no-go. It can be salvaged, but would need some work. The wooden track markers that made the tear drops of turns are rotted away. The 'walls' of the track are gone. The asphalt has weeds growing on it. There is a driver stand in place still. It might be worth fixing up if we can get a group of guys to go out there. But I don't know at this point. I will post pics later.

what durham used to look likehttp://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r242/cheerwhiner/CTCS/what it looks like now: the first 5 picshttp://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r242/cheerwhiner/
10/23/2010 3:07:33 PM
I'd be down to try and get this place back up and running. I raced out there a few times myself before the track died. And I live in Durham, so this would be MUCH closer for me too.
10/23/2010 3:18:37 PM
well let me know. I will talk to some other peopleI don't know about running touring cars at Regency on Sundays. Hangar 18 folks are nice, they grill food too. But the surface is just not suited for touring cars to be honest. The parking lot is just too dusty and bumpy.I just want a nice dedicated track to go to. Goldsboro is great (Rosewood) but not that close, and I don't want to 'race' just yet anyway. FV on Friday is a nice parking lot but we just destroy the track to easily.
10/23/2010 5:28:03 PM
pretty much decided to just race at Rosewood. Its an hour away, but whatever, guaranteed to run, big crowds, etc.Winter= touring every other Sunday Summer- every Saturday I can raceWe might fix up Durham next year, but now I doubt it. Went to Goldsboro today (Rosewood) and after checking out everything, it seems like the way to go. Not gonna be at FV on Friday nights for the foreseeable future, but I will keep the nitro tc3.
10/30/2010 8:00:23 PM
It's looking like I might be getting out of the hobby again. I was kidding myself when I thought I'd have time to actually run these things on the regular.Basically I have a COMPLETE race setup of a Losi 8ight E...and pretty much any replacement part you could ever want. I've got enough parts to build almost 2-3 extra buggies, haha. (nitro versions at least).Have about 15 sets of tires for this thing.I also have an almost new Blitz short course truck that's in almost perfect condition. Brand new set of Proline Caliber rear tires I just put on there and made 3 laps around the track with them.As far as electronics go, I have a Hyperion EOS 0606i Lipo charger, 2 5000mah 4S1P Lipo's in GREAT condition, 3 3800mah 2S1P hardpacks (used with my Blitz). Also have a BRAND NEW (1 race day) Spektrum DX3S (with telemetry) radio system. Paid $250 for it. Includes 2 receivers. Also have a used Futaba 3pdf with 2 receivers that work great! If anyone's interested in any of this stuff, let me know asap. Otherwise it's probably going on ebay.
11/1/2010 2:53:14 PM
I have a 2000kv in my helicopter and it's stupid powerful I can't imagine what the cars are like these days.
11/1/2010 3:01:06 PM
Yeah, they're sick. I got out of the hobby a while back, just before brushless came out.[Edited on November 1, 2010 at 3:21 PM. Reason : .]

Been racing at Rosewood the last several weekends. Running carpet touring. I'm specifically running the 'gt' class they created- any touring car, but it has to run tamiya silver can 540 motor. Pretty good class for people on a budget or getting into/back into racing. I haven't broken a thing on my car! Tires are $25 for a mounted set of 4 and the motors are $16. Any body, battery you want. I am planning on selling a lot of my basher stuff since I don't want to waste time with all of that, just race. Nitro tc3 will be up for sale here soon, and an electric buggy.........
