pens get michalek and martin, and the caps fail to get volchenkov, so i'm happy.pens are still a bit weak at wing but this should help a lot.
7/1/2010 10:47:50 PM
Shero's always saved his money by getting cheap wingers and investing big money down the center. I'm really happy with the moves he made yesterday to beef up the D, and now we are probably looking at picking up a cheaper veteran a la Billy Guerin to come in on the wing with the $2.25mil left under the cap. Tangradi appears to be the heir apparent for Sid's wing in the next season or two, and who knows, maybe they'll have Staal move up to center the second line and move Geno to wing. /armchair gmAlso, this:

Ha, well I feel like fucking Nostradamus because Ray Shero was on Pittsburgh's local ESPN radio affiliate today saying that Malkin was moving to Staal's wing next season. It's been speculation for a while now, but that makes me no less impressive [Edited on July 2, 2010 at 4:36 PM. Reason : ]

Crosby can also play right wing

Rumors everywhere on Twitter that the Isles are pushing hard to get Kovalchuk. Offer is said to be $10mil per for 10 years. Garth Snow sure loves to hand out those long term deals. Seeing as Captain One Way can't find his own defensive zone, it makes me extremely happy that the Pens were able to get long term deals for both Sid and Geno with cap hits of 8.7

New York Post reporting Kovalchuk to the Devils for $60 million over 7 years.

7/8/2010 10:23:26 PM
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
7/8/2010 10:30:39 PM
I was pondering a move to Florida due to the cheap real estate and Miami being a major airport hub (my new job is a lot of travel so that'd help), but man they're slashing hockey prices too! If only there were actually good players on the team outside of Weiss (injured all the time), David Booth (soon to be Mr. Concussion) and Vokoun who will probably be out of there after this year being a contract year and all. I'm sure the Miami Heat taking up all the money of the few sports fans in the city of Miami isn't helping the Panthers' cause too much. But for under 2 grand for 2 lower level seats, how can you beat that even if they suck?
7/8/2010 11:04:37 PM
or the fact that they're a joke of a franchise, which is an embarrassment to hockey with shit like this ^3?[Edited on July 8, 2010 at 11:08 PM. Reason : ]
7/8/2010 11:08:35 PM
I want to know who (besides Bettman) thought it would be a good idea to put two professional hockey teams in Florida in the first place.
7/8/2010 11:15:42 PM
At least Dale Tallon is running them now, that should help get some of their franchise back to a level of low respectability. I remember long before the Hurricanes came to Greensboro, I was a Panthers fan (sad to say), hell I owned stock in them (ticker was PUCK hahah). I think it was because I was tired of all the Flyer/Rangers fans I knew growing up and I was like oh yeah? I like the Panthers and Bill Lindsay, John Vanbiesbrouck and Scott Mellanby! But yeah still a joke of a franchise and that campaign solidifies it, but hey you could see some good opponents for the cheap down there, Caps 3 times, Penguins 2 times, since I'm a Hurricanes fan them 3 times (even if this year ought to be an interesting one), etc. So, though it's a joke of a franchise, to get back to any sort of relevance they have to start somewhere and this is I guess as good of point as any as it's a cheap alternative for entertainment. I mean it'll be cheaper to sit upper level per game than to go to a movie if you get season tickets.
7/8/2010 11:21:07 PM
At least Florida can't even come close to spending to the cap, so Tallon shouldn't be able to fuck that up this time.
7/8/2010 11:35:02 PM
holy shitthose prices are ridiculous
7/9/2010 3:28:06 AM
hey man, fill the seatsso that's like what, a 275$ season ticket for upper level?
7/9/2010 9:03:08 AM
$246 for the regular seasonno clue how they run their preseason stuff
7/9/2010 9:21:32 AM
someone please put that franchise out of its misery

The Post has learned that one of Canada's national outlets formally has proposed that Kovalchuk, the 27-year-old goal-scoring machine who is the most luminous prime-time star in NHL free agent history, announce his Decision during a one-hour network special based on LeBron's precedent-setting episode on ESPN.Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/rangers/dolan_whiffed_on_lebron_but_can_tZSPKB3VDPV738R5bJ1RvK#ixzz0tLNPP8cdLOLOL[Edited on July 11, 2010 at 12:13 AM.
