Ugh she strikes again! Funny observations - the female will not pee on the bed in the morning nor while I'm at work. She waits about 30 minutes after I'm home to go pee on the bed.

I ended up moving their stuff down to the half bath and locked her in there with my other cat. They're not allowed in the guest bedroom anymore. This is just temporary. I'm letting them out in a bit.

hopefully she doesn't start peeing on the sofa or I'm really going to start getting mad.

update - the cats did well last night. they seem to be using the litter box, eating and drinking. everything has been moved downstairs and they're completely blocked off from the guest bedroom.

we'll see how this afternoon goes because it seems the female thinks the best time to pee on something is about 30 minutes after i get home

update - the female has yet to pee on anything downstairs! she's using the litter box in the half bathroom and eating and drinking. she's enjoyed sleeping on one of the blankets on the top of the couch and will come sit on the couch with me when i'm hanging out downstairs. she's even friendlier to the dog so i'm thinking by moving her downstairs, i've moved her into more "neutral" territory and she doesn't have the same territorial nature as she did upstairs in the guest bedroom (where it was all my stuff).

update:

well the cat has started to pee on things again. she was doing so well. going to the bathroom in the litter box (i was even able to put the cover back on it) and seemed happier.

we went on vacation and i had a friend checking on the cats everyday.....feeding them, petting them, changing their litter. well we get home and smell cat pee - the cat had peed on the dog's bean bag bed not an hour before we got home.

so we clean it up, had to throw away the stuffing, and washed the outside part.

today....the cat pees on one of our chairs right in front of me!!!!!! i made an appointment with the vet to make sure it's not a UTI because i heard her in the litter box just prior to her going to the bathroom on the chair.

i really don't know what to do anymore. there's nowhere else i can put her in the home where she won't ruin something else

1. just like i said in my post above you, she's going to the vet today. i made an appointment. before she was peeing out of spite but now that i heard her in the litter box and then she went and maliciously peed on the chair, i'm wondering if she has a UTI like she did a couple of years ago.
2. no haven't bought the plug yet. when we moved her litter box, she seemed happier and was doing fine so i wanted to hold off on doing anything else.

The collars are $15 a month. She ruins one thing with pee and you'd be better off buying a year of collars. I have never seen a cat have a negative reaction to them.

can you get the collars at petsmart? this cat is really finnicky....she rather choke herself trying to get the collar off than wear it.

i'm going to the vet at 2pm. i guess we'll see what he says.

My cat started showing some similar symptoms. He was peeing in the closet floor and acting really weird- he'd cry all night while I was trying to sleep and sleeping all day. I had previously used and been successful with the feliway plug in, so I got another one and the behavior seemed to subside somewhat. Finally, just to be sure, I took him to the vet and he had a bladder infection. He's been on antibiotics for over a week now and the change is amazing. I was having to do some things you have- making modifications to where he could go, closing doors, putting him in the bathroom with his litter box at night... but now things are back to normal and he's much more calm. I hope your vet is able to find what's going on and it will ease your mind.

i mean i hope she's not sick but it would be a bit of a relief if it is a UTI and it's not behaviorial anymore. she had been doing so well

i know the feeling. a medical problem, as long as it's not something really bad and horrible, can be much easier to fix than a behavioral issue. good luck at the vet.

ok just got back from the vet. it is definitely a bladder infection per the urinalysis and blood work. the vet thinks the bladder infection was caused by stress from moving, adjusting, being around a dog, not being the alpha anymore, etc and also prescribed her some anti-anxiety meds to help her relax a bit.

i have to take her back in 2 weeks for follow up to make sure the antibiotic shot worked.

It's great that they found something. I know I was relieved to find some medical reason for my cat's craziness. I wish my vet would have given him a shot instead of making me give him medicine twice a day! I hope your kitties all feel better soon.

oh i had 3 options. the shot was the most expensive but the easiest to deal with. definitely worth the $50. she's had a bladder infection before and i opted for the pills and it wasn't easy. plus i feel like with the shot, it kicks in faster.
