2!Haha, I smoked a Cohiba Siglo VI last week. Since they're fairly pricey (~$23/stick) I smoked the whole thing...about 30 minutes later I lost my dinner.I'm usually pretty good as long as I only smoke about half of the cigar [Edited on January 10, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Reason : .]

anyone have any humidor tips? I have one, just a basic Thompson box with a digital read out but I could never truely get it to "season" and stay humid. Might smoke more often if I had a humidor stocked and worth a damn.

since no one reads the lounge

And bring me back some of those cigars in the cedar boxes, you know the ones with the fancy rings? I love those fancy rings. They kind of distract you while you're smoking. The red and yellow are nice. It looks good against the brown of the cigar. The Maduro, I like the Maduro wrapper. The darker the better, that's what I say. Of course, the Claro's good too. That's more of a pale brown, almost like a milky coffee. I find the ring size very confusing. They have it in centimeters which I don't really understand that well...

do you guys buy sampler packs, singles, or bulk? seems everyone has a very mixed bag in their boxes.
6/9/2011 1:57:14 PM
Grandfather just gave me 2 tins of padron 64s woohoo
6/13/2013 9:24:38 PM
^^ I like to buy both, I always keep one of the po boy samplers on hand from cigars international, i get the po boy 2 usually, 30 cigars for $30, all mild and good, perfect for golf and mowing the lawn or when people come over and want to mooch. But I usually look for the 90+ rated samplers and have had pretty good luck with them. I do buy boxes or packs of just my favorites though, have been hooked on the punch barenuckle lately

I smoked a cigar with my girlfriend's fantastically wealthy uncle the other weekend. He removed the band so I don't know what specifically it was besides a cuban Cohiba, but it cost him 75lbs in London so... yikes. It was good, a two hour burner for sure.

I'm just being superior for the hell of it. I have a rather large collection. It's something I really enjoy, and I've put time into building it.The first rule of cigar smoking is smoke what you like. Everyone has different tastes.Having said that...Rocky Patel, Gurkha, anything form any kind of deal from CI, Dominican Branded Monte, RyJ, Cohiba, Partagas are all complete garbage.Whatever Cohiba Netstorm smoked from London was a ripoff. Not that it wasn't genuine, just that that price tag is fucking outrageous. The most expensive current production Cohiba in the world right now is the 1966 Edicion Limitada 2011. It's $45 a stick, and won't even be worth smoking until 2015. It's such a large vitola that it's going to take years for the blend to marry. There are a very small number of non Cuban cigars that I enjoy. I don't think that Cubans are superior, but the stereotypical cuban profile does suit my palate more than DR or Nica tobacco. It's all about the flavors in your wheelhouse. If you guys want some suggestions give me a price bracket, and I'll try and come up with some good stuff.Lastly, Padron Anni 1964s do not come in tins to my knowledge. There is one Padron that does, but it's not a 1964.[Edited on June 16, 2013 at 10:45 AM. Reason : ]

^I actually mispoke, because I got the guy to clarify later that he paid that amount for a certain number of them. They weren't DR branded Cohibas, definitely the real thing, but I was skeptical of the price he'd given. And that was coming from a guy who has put likely a million dollars and thirty years into his cigar "hobby," so I'm hesitant to believe he gets ripped off easily. Likely he just mispoke or even I misheard him.
6/16/2013 2:33:38 PM
Don't get me wrong. I'm sure he paid what you pay in London. EMS (English Market Selection) Havanas are known to be some of the best in the world. Fox's, the Davidoff shop, and Ajay Patels La Casa Del Habano are fantastic shops...but you pay a price to shop there. And I'm not questioning whether it was DR or a fake. I'm sure it was genuine havana tobacco. I was just pointing out the the price could be very misleading. You could get the same stick lots of other places and not pay nearly that much.
6/16/2013 7:32:22 PM
I believe you about the price, but it would be hard for me to gauge anything threw this other guy, to whom money is not even a problem he has to think about. He'd pay any price, even a shitty one, as long as he was getting the product he wanted. So an English markup... probably not even something he thinks about.

I just started smoking cigars a few weeks ago. I really like them. They help me not think about smoking cigarettes. It's been a month since I've smoked a cigarette.
