I hated that star on the long tree trunk slide. that one took me forever....

and i hate how you lose all your men after you save and quit. i would have about 20 men saved up, then next time i play it is down to 5 again.

Yeah that's pretty lame, especially when you get to the later levels (which are pretty tough).

I'm 100 stars in and I've been having a good time. Some of the stars are frustrating as hell. They even managed to make one even more frustrating than that damn exploding box game from Galaxy 1.

I don't think the game deserved 10/10. 9/10 yeah, but it's too much of a retread of Galaxy 1 to be a 10/10 IMO.

i just spent 20 minutes on the prankster comet on yoshi island...that's the one that gives you 60 seconds to kill all the spiny's with the rainbow star.

i died about 16 times before i beat it

i loved the bowser jr. level on world 3 until i got to the boss. i just played 12 times and lost each time. i can get to the last part no problem, but when i have to hit his head twice, the double laser and the bullets hit me every time. i hate when the game mechanics get in the way. i'm timing the jump right every time but the mechanics keep getting in the way

i took a break and came back an hour later and beat it on the first try...

is there a prankster comet for every level? Some levels I've got the comet medals, but others I don't bother looking for...

Bought it today and played through the first batch of levels. It's a lot of fun, but so far it feels more like an expansion pack than a true sequel. Aside from Yoshi, there's not a whole lot that feels new.

And no Rosalina this time? She was a milf (you know, as much as a fictional animated character can be).

She's back and even more involved than before. She actually offers to take control of mario if you die 5+ times to guide you automatically to the star (only its a bronze star)

I'm noticing that my favorite thing about Galaxy 1 is notably absent. Granted, I just started World 5, but come on. The Pull Stars were my favorite things to play around with in the first game, and I've only seen ONE in the entire game so far.

My girlfriend is getting this tomorrow.

She's going to be playing it a lot...

...so I'm getting Red Dead Redemption.

Its ridiculous how good Nintendo is at gameplay and level design. If only anybody else could come up with anything half as good as the Nintendo stuff on the wii.

I'm in the fifth world now. I forget how many stars I've got, but I've been collecting all of them as they've become available. I've also been collecting all of the comet coins. Some of these levels were amazingly fun, but others can just suck my balls (I'm looking at you, tree-trunk level. And the gliding level in the fifth world). And all the boss fights have been awesome thus far.

That doesn't mean that you have to do all 120 stars again, does it? Because a second playthrough was one of the few things I didn't like about the first Mario Galaxy. While I love Luigi's advanced speed and jumping, it felt like a really cheap way to extend the amount of play time.

SPOILER ALERT (select to read)

The second 120 stars involve playing the same levels, but there are green stars hidden in each one. Some of the hiding spots are pretty clever and require you to really comb the levels. I guess it's better than a second playthrough as Luigi, but it's nothing earth-shattering

Having completely finished the main quest, I'd say it's pretty awesome game overall.

Am I the only one that doesn't like playing as luigi? My control is much crisper with Mario.

I really like this game more than the first. Really, it's just extremely clever and the addition of yoshi is well done. Also, it's probably the only game my wife looks forward to playing with me. She really contibutes, unlike the first one when P2 can only collect star bits.

That's deliberate. Luigi is harder to control, but jumps higher.

Got all 120 stars over the weekend. I'm now working on the "second" playthrough.

Good lord, some of those levels in the final world were fucking frustrating. They'll push your skills to the limit (and probably result in half your hair getting pulled out). Though doing the Mario/Luigi level and fighting the bosses from the first game was pretty baller.

which one's? I didn't feel like this game ever got frustrating. Maybe 2 or 3 tries to get through a level... but I never felt overwhelmed.

I dig having to find the green stars. I try to think like a developer... makes it easier to find them. I have around 150 stars. Gonna get em all eventually.

I just entered world 6 and have 69 stars. I have found every star in each world so far except the comet stars for some of them, because they haven't appeared yet.

I doubt I will get 120 stars because I don't care about going back and getting the comet coin in every world. I wish you could get the comet coin and then exit the world (if you already beat it), instead of having to actually finish the level again.

^^That's a shame because the comet stars are where the challenge of the game is at (for me at least).

Is it really worth the effort to get all 120 stars in MG1? I have 7 left and I think they are all purple comets.

Does anything special get unlocked in MG2 if you have a save file of MG1 that is completed?

1) Unless you consider the feat of getting all 120 stars in and of itself a fun accomplishment, no. The only bonus for getting all 120 stars in MG1 is that you get to do it all over again with Luigi. If you get all of Luigi's stars, then you unlock one extremely lame bonus level.

2) Nope.

i can't stand levels with lava or sand...

is there a way to stop mario from running around in a panic after he steps on lava, or do you just have to wait it out? it really sucks on levels with small platforms because 1 mishap in lava usually leads to 2 more quick ones and a death

I just control mario to the nearest wall and hold in that direction. Some levels with a speed run, i jump in the lava to go faster.

Hehe, on the speed run for one of the Bowser levels I was running out of time while riding a platform over lava. I jumped in and landed on the star with 1 second left.

I was watching my roommate play this last night. I about shat myself when he got to the Throwback galaxy which was identical to Whomp's fortress on Mario 64. Even the music was the same. Talk about nostalgia!
