and my point is I don't see how it can be justified as necessary in that situation, or what it really accomplished since the guy wasn't getting away.if anything, it made this guy a mini celebrity...which all but but deters others.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 2:38 PM. Reason : s]

^^ Yeah and if that black guy hadn't "reached for something" the cop wouldn't have shot him, right?

^^^now that is quality security work right there....for the record, my personal objections are more with the assumption that it is necessary to use a taser in running on the field sutuations than anything to do with the danger of actually using it.^when is it ever?[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 2:57 PM. hypothetically speakinglets say usain bolt runs on the field, and literally nobody can catch himwhat do you do in that scenario (aside from sign him to a contract!)because the security/cop who tased this kid was fat, ie he couldnt just chase down the kid]
5/4/2010 2:58:58 PM
With the number of security people on/around any field, I would have serious reservations about retaining their employment if, collectively, they couldn't catch any human on this earth.and I'm not saying I can't envision a scenario where use of a taser would be prudent...this situation was not it though.

5/4/2010 10:47:03 PM
Damn of course that happens at the only Lakers game I miss
5/4/2010 10:49:21 PM
Most of the people up here in Philly agreed that he was an idiot and deserved to get tasered. My problem with people saying "oh well what about the people that storm the court/field at NC State games, should they be tasered as well," is that they aren't doing it to gain attention to themselves. They are all celebrating together as a group. This asshat was just trying to bring attention upon himself and delay the game. The fans that rush the court/field at State games do it at the end of the game. Also it is something that has become expected around the country at college sporting events, not pro events, so it's not all that spontaneous and unexpected for security working the games. And before someone says "oh well he's just 17", naw screw that. Watch Dave Chappelle's stand up sketch titled "How Old is 15 really?" Teenagers know the difference between basic right and wrongs. Everyone has to stop making excuses for these kids and hold them accountable. They aren't as naive as the way a lot of people portray them.
5/4/2010 11:43:54 PM
^well said...when you jump on the field, you give up some rights...read the back of your ticket if you don't believe me...maybe he could've just been tackled, but oh well, he got dealt with
5/4/2010 11:47:26 PM
tasers should only be used when absolutely necessary. it was not absolutely necessary here. and people who think: "what about the athletes!?!?" well something tells me that they can outrun some random kid.
5/4/2010 11:51:20 PM
but how do you know when its absolutely necessary? when Monica Seles was stabbed, the guy didn't look like he meant any harm until he stabbed her
5/4/2010 11:52:35 PM
fuck all you pussies "omg, the little boy got tazed, THE HUMANITY!!!"are you serious?? hundreds of people get tazed everyday. Hell, i've been tazed more than once myself. It knocks you flat on your ass for 5 seconds, and immediately after you feel no side effects. They are practically harmless. This little dickhead jumped on the field to be an attention whore......well he got what he deserved. Fuck him
5/4/2010 11:54:45 PM
^^a baseball field isn't exactly the same setting as a tennis court (and that guy didn't charge the court -- he was able to approach her on a changeover when she was sitting on the bench)^no side effects unless of course it kills you like it has in many documented cases.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 11:55 PM. 5/4/2010 11:55:01 PM
it was obviously absolutely nec... because fatty is only getting more and more tired as the time wears on. it's not like, if my boy chasing him in the first 30 seconds didnt chase him, his chances were going to go up.
5/4/2010 11:58:11 PM
(according to a 2003 Department of Defense study) 99.4% of people tazed have no side effects after the fact...of the 0.6% that do, many less than that dieWhat if the guy had been tackled instead of tazed, then he had grabbed the cop's gun and shot himBottom line is very simple...don't go on the fucking field and you won't be tazeredIts really that simple]
5/4/2010 11:58:37 PM
5/5/2010 12:02:55 AM
^lol, maybe the drugs contributed to him wanting to run onto the field?obviously....hes a copycatter, an idiot and now, a criminal. Just an amazing specimen
5/5/2010 12:07:11 AM
when all you gotta do is tackle the guy, tazing someone is just so lazy. the fact that it can also potentially kill the person because it's volts of electricity is just icing on the cake of unnecessity.
5/5/2010 11:38:23 AM
Since we are talking bullshit "what if small percentage scenario" here. What wouldve happened had the security guard(s) had tackled him and broken his neck or back? There would be a HUGE outcry of. Why didn't he just tase him?!?!? Why did the guard(s) have to be so physically violent!!?!?!!

in the history of people running onto the field of play has anyone ever been seriously injured from being tackled ?

In the history of tasing people at sporting events has anyone ever died or been seriously injured?

5/5/2010 1:37:57 PM
every band puts out at least one pussy song to find out who the faggots are
5/5/2010 1:57:55 PM
I don't think many people have been tased at sporting events in the past, I think mostly due to the fact that most cops didn't use to carry tasers and pepper foam like most of them do nowadays
5/5/2010 1:59:26 PM
At ECU we wore science lab goggles to fend off the mace when we rushed the field after beating Houston on a Tuesday night ESPN2 game back in 2003Worked like a charm
