I've had this on preorder since march. While not a fan of some of these additions and what not I'm still excited for it to arrive.

it's a shame. If people who wanted the original would all band together and boycott these releases then maybe, just maybe you would get what you want. But even the fanboys who complain about what Lucas is doing and rip on the added scenes are the first ones to overpay for these sets. Lucas don't give a shit about you while he dives into gold coins scrooge mcduck style.

Everyone will just end up buying this and the unaltered original trilogy when it is inevitably released once the sales of this set start to slump. GL is the master of reselling the same thing over and over and over again and people don't seem to mind, they buy it up. Wouldn't be surprised if he messed with the OT just to inflate demand for the unaltered version - always making you buy the inferior "only version there is" each and every time before the offering of what everyone wanted in the first place.[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 8:01 PM. I have this (the original trilogy) and do not try to run any GPU enhancements like PureVideo, the movie will go nuts. Most people using a Blu-Ray player and TV will just have to update firmware, but anyone on computer don't try to run anything besides the normal software player like PowerDVD.

that video is too good

wow $79.99 for all 6 on blu-ray is a pretty damn good deal.

I had the 1997 release or whatever. I didn't even realize that anything was different from the "original" so it's clearly some seriously minor shit that only ubernerds would get up in arms about.

I just wanted the Originals on Blu-Ray, if I want to see the untouched originals I will download them. However these are the best looking and sounding these old movies have ever been like before. 39.99 for one of the trilogies is not bad at all.

there is an issue with PowerDVD right now and possibly with some stand alone players. Lucasarts used some type of BD+ Encryption that normal players aren't used to. Basically this is the biggest fuck up Blu-Ray launch in a long time; trumping Saving Private Ryan by a lot. Now some players are playing the movie without any issues, but a lot aren't. I would say less than a week for anyone on HTPC using PowerDVD. Stand alone players I have no idea how long till you get a firmware patch.http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18963.pagethis patch may fix PowerDVD 10: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/update/cyberlink/general/center/index.jsp?fileTypeId=0&PRODUCTNAME=PowerDVD&PRODUCTVERSION=10.0&VERSIONTYPE=Mark+II+Ultra&CHANNEL=iSales&LANGUAGE=ENU&OSREGION=0xf2&SYSTEMLOCALE=0x0809&BU=CLT&MAJORVER=10&MINORVER=0&BUILDNO=2916&VENDORNAME=2581&SR=DVD110429-07&DEVICE=BD&PATTERNID=142481&BB_ID=59266&HWID=None&Model=None&APREGID=3512da1d685ad09925d94bf4d612a47d&UUID=None&affiliate=2581_720_572_DVD110429-07_59266_142481_0_None_3512da1d685ad09925d94bf4d612a47d_None&utm_campaign=BB_&utm_source=BB_PowerDVD_2581_&utm_medium=BB_PowerDVD_59266_Patch_Enhance_DVD110429-07_142481__

I'm surprised there isn't a release of the originals, remasters, the special editions, and these final 'updates' and 'improvements'. It's not like you'd have to even have 4 different full versions, just different scene pulls. (Well for the originals and remasters; and the spec ed's and the new revisions)

I agree they should have put them all on there just like Close Encounters. However I will say that video feed is sending out some serious bandwidth. The avg is 33mb/s on the video, that is higher than The Dark Knight or The Pacific.

I know a lot of people are hating this set, but I've enjoyed the hell out of watching it and the awesome sound that came with it. I guess because I haven't seen it in years it brings back a lot of good memories, but the sound is awesome for sure.
9/20/2011 9:29:37 PM
I only bought the OT and I think it is awesome, only thing that could have been better was to include all versions of the OT instead of the 1997 remake in 1080p. The sound is good through out the OT, especially on Return of The Jedi.
