lol at this threadrally arguing with mamba, i'm surprised tdub didnt implode[Edited on April 17, 2010 at 8:08 PM. Reason : also, kobe still a top player, but not the same guy he was even last year]
4/17/2010 8:07:51 PM
D=wade...the best player in the league.
4/17/2010 8:17:50 PM
LOL, D-Wade is the third best player in the league easily but he's not on the same planet as LBJ and Howard right now. Kobe in the regular season this year was behind several guys... even guys like G.Wallace and Josh Smith. We'll see if he turns it back on for the playoffs but my guess is he's really just fallen off that far.Basketball players typically peak at 25. The best can usually sustain that peak until 28 or so and then they start falling off. That's just the way it is... Kobe is 31 I think, it's all downhill from here. He's still the third best SG that's ever played but he's never getting to #1 or #2, sorry.P.S. I'm switching to Denver in 7 since Kirilenko has been ruled out for the series.Starting to wish I took Miami. Boston had the better numbers over the course of the season, but Miami was much better in the 2nd half. I was thinking Boston was probably resting guys a lot for the playoffs, but in reality their big three really does look washed up. KG is still good, but he's not KG. If Boston wants to win this series they need Rondo to put them on their back b/c KG can't do it anymore and Pierce/Allen aren't really even good anymore. [Edited on April 17, 2010 at 10:01 PM. Reason : add]
4/17/2010 9:55:17 PM
who is #2?
4/17/2010 10:00:00 PM
Jordan is the clear cut #1, Drexler clear cut #2, and Kobe clear cut #3.Kobe would have to perform at the level he's at now for another ~6-7 years to catch Drex which is not going to happen.Just double checked and yes based on how far Kobe has fallen off this year, he really has no shot of surpassing Drexler. Still a great career, just important to put things in perspective sometimes.[Edited on April 17, 2010 at 10:16 PM. Reason : a]
4/17/2010 10:02:38 PM
hahahahaha
4/17/2010 10:05:17 PM
Jermaine O'Neal in a fightBig surprise
4/17/2010 10:42:43 PM
One can only hope this series is half as good as Boston/Chicago last year
4/17/2010 11:00:27 PM
haha man I was going to post earlier wondering when the first flagrant foul/altercation/fight would be and it already happened
4/17/2010 11:59:47 PM
lol clyde drexler lol[Edited on April 18, 2010 at 12:07 AM. Reason : jordan, west, bryant, jones, gervin (sports guy not me)]
4/18/2010 12:03:25 AM
yea I kind of rolled my eyes at that too, kobe's stats are easily better than clyde's
4/18/2010 12:10:24 AM
4/18/2010 12:34:00 AM
I had to laugh at that too. Kobe is one of the 10 best players in NBA history. I hate the guy but come on man.
4/18/2010 1:21:51 AM
I'm not saying Clyde is/was better than Kobe...but I don't think some of ya'll remember how good he was (or are too young to remember). If he had played on the Knicks or Lakers instead of the Blazers, he'd get a lot more pub as being one of the best ever. He was nasty.Oh...and from last night...Surprised at how well Denver played. They're so bi-polar. Wade and the Heat stunk it up in the 2nd half last night. Boston is not that good. KG should/will probably get suspended for another game because of that elbow he threw at Q. Brandon Jennings is nasty. Pretty much the only reason the Bucks were even in the game last night. Chicago played better than I thought. Cleveland looked like they were going through the motions.
4/18/2010 10:43:35 AM
can somebody explain why gordon was sent to the pistons and why he didn't start?
4/18/2010 11:08:05 AM
Sent? He was signed as a FA...[Edited on April 18, 2010 at 11:26 AM. Reason : Gordon also sort of shot himself in the foot a few years ago]
4/18/2010 11:24:34 AM
Because Chicago already had Hinrich and Rose. Gordon was a great scorer, but high scoring shooting guards are a dime a dozen and he played absolutely no defense. Hinrich is a stopper and he doesn't take away from Rose's development like Gordon's ball-hogging would have.Nobody cares about Detroit. So who cares if Gordon starts or not.
4/18/2010 11:24:49 AM
I would definitely be more scared of clyde drexler dunking on me than kobe. Clyde had an extra booster in his legs build for posterizing someone
4/18/2010 11:42:59 AM
I would be absolutely shocked if Garnett didn't miss Game 2. That second elbow was vicious and caught Q right in the chops. It didn't look like anyone else involved did anything to warrant a suspension, but you never know with Stern.lol at Q's quote
4/18/2010 11:51:22 AM
Hickson with 1 minute last night
4/18/2010 12:25:24 PM
It doesn't surprise me that you guys don't know that Drexler was better than Kobe because you're so young, but that doesn't make it untrue. http://www.wagesofwins.com/KobeDrexler.htmlClyde's CAREER averages are still better than Kobe's and that doesn't take into account Kobe's inevitable decline years that will lower his numbers even further.Kobe's never even posted more than 18 wins in a season or even stuck out reallyhttp://www.wagesofwins.com/BestSG78-09.html
4/18/2010 1:03:10 PM
So what you're saying is, that if Portland had drafted Jordan instead of Bowie, there would be 10 Championship banners hanging in the Rose Garden rafters right now
4/18/2010 1:24:00 PM
Looking forward to see what Durant can do vs the Lakers in his playoff debut.
4/18/2010 2:41:47 PM
bynum doesn't look too injured to me.
4/18/2010 3:18:25 PM
4/18/2010 3:39:58 PM
damn bynum.and durant is getting mugged out there.
4/18/2010 3:47:07 PM
haha bynum is sooo hurtok city is gonna get swept for sure
4/18/2010 3:47:10 PM
Lakers are killing them with the mismatches inside
4/18/2010 3:49:04 PM
why is derrick fisher even in the nba still? if not for the lakers it seems like he would be playing in europe by now
4/18/2010 3:53:40 PM
Fucking Fuck I thought Bynum was hurt. He is straight killing them out there.Hopefully he wears down before they face Cle/Orl. Glad I didnt bet on Dallas yet.
4/18/2010 4:06:58 PM
What the hell kind of stat is "wins produced"
4/18/2010 4:07:22 PM
i'm about the bump the shit out of my OKC thread
4/18/2010 4:07:36 PM
came here to say ^^^^ thisWestbrook just flat out abused him the last 5 min of the 2nd. What are they gonna do though, put Farmar or Sasha in? hahaha[Edited on April 18, 2010 at 4:10 PM. Reason : ^^^]
4/18/2010 4:10:05 PM
4/18/2010 4:12:02 PM
fisher is a useful veteran playoff time. he would be on the jazz if it wasnt for the lakers. he came to the lakers because thats where his daughters doctor lives. the lakers could easily put kobe at 1 artest at 2 odom at 3
4/18/2010 4:17:59 PM
westbrook is straight killing the lakers off penetration.Durant is playing terrible and they are still hanging around. He should be better once he gets this first playoff game under his belt. I think OKC can win 2 games in this series still.
4/18/2010 4:52:13 PM
durant will play terrible against playoff artest durrr
4/18/2010 4:54:35 PM
6-19 FG and 7-12 FT along with 2 reb, 3 ast, and 2 TO.Another signature Kobe performance. But I guess, he's just waiting for the playoffs to start trying.
4/18/2010 6:05:09 PM
Again. kobe shot his career average fg% this year. Thanks for judging him by his first game back from injury though.
4/18/2010 6:20:11 PM
just let me know when i should start judging Kobe.As if the last twelve seasons isn't enough. He will go down as the #3 SG to ever play the game, that's a great accomplishment.Just don't act like he's a dominant NBA player like Duncan and Garnett were and Lebron and Howard are and we can live in harmony.
4/18/2010 7:01:13 PM
jesus christ do not give cheryl miller a microphone
4/18/2010 7:03:57 PM
he can strike anytime when they need him. when he's on, hes better than all others when they are on. He's learned its best to play through his team until they need a finisher instead of trying to get a triple double every night.
4/18/2010 7:06:28 PM
right, he has learned it's better to let the other guys on his team take high percentage shots than for him to continue taking low percentage shots.I will grant you that.
4/18/2010 7:18:53 PM
The good news is it only took 1 playoff game for Gerald Wallace to establish the fact that he's better than Kobe Bryant in 2010. No arguments unless you wanna be the guy who sides with Mamba.
4/18/2010 8:10:57 PM
Howard didn't do shit after the 1st quarter tonight, wheres your lengthy explanation for that
4/18/2010 8:18:21 PM
by this logic brandon jennings will go down as the best to ever play the game.
4/18/2010 8:20:26 PM
in order for rally to respect how good Kobe is, like 99.9% of the rest of basketball fans do, he would have to either get busted for fighting dogs or get picked right behind Mario Williams in the NFL Draft
4/18/2010 8:22:58 PM
^^ ?????Brandon Jennings was terrible this season, what are you talking about?Jennings might be good one day if he gets his act together but he rode Bogut, Delfino, and Mbah-Moute's back into the postseason.Just because he had one good game in the playoffs I'm not just going to disregard his entire season's ugly body of work.
4/18/2010 8:29:04 PM
4/18/2010 8:36:22 PM
The difference is Jennings had a pretty bad season (a monumentally TERRIBLE one if you take out the first 25 games).Kobe was his usual self all season.Wallace was a beast all season. So yeah, if Wallace crushes Kobe all year and the Kobe loving weirdos stick by him because he "always tunes it up for the playoffs" (which isn't true if you look at his playoff numbers which mirror his regular season numbers) and then Wallace crushes Kobe again in the playoffs then I'll take the correct side of the argument.Durant sucked today, but I doubt he sucks all series. On the other hand, I'll bet Kobe continues being a good but not great player for the entire playoffs.
