I don't think an alias would type like that (look at the space between paragraphs!).notomention, qntmfred did say that friends/family were googling this thread.[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 1:29 PM. Reason : ]

Yeah, that was my bad for tossing in Chit Chat...my reasoning more would see it and pay respects and not do the usual TWW thing. I forgot the college kid mentality.Oh, and update:http://www.dailytarheel.com/content/odum-village-death-identified-graduate-law-student[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 1:45 PM. Reason : ..]

^ makes sense...and moving it is preferable to locking it out of handi am still somewhat surprised when people mock tragic deaths...certainly some of the darwin award winners and nominees deserve some mocking, but not stuff like this

^^^ Thank you for posting that update. I had a class with Eric, but did not know him well. My condolences to his family and those close to him.[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 1:48 PM. Reason : ^]

Threads like this shouldn't be made at all.Its tragic to the family and people close to them, and certainly most can sympathize. But the vast majority of users don't know the guy that died or their family, so they are little more than words on a screen. I really don't see what is gained by threads like these. You're just asking for more hurt/anger by making them.

yes, threads like these often attract snarky comments more often than people who have something valuable to offeron the other hand, death is a reality of life and there's no need to hide it away. people can learn how to be empathetic to the needs of troubled friends or even total strangers by seeing others grieve.^ exactly. threads like these can be a reminder that people are real, even if you don't know them.[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 1:56 PM. I've known two people who have killed themselves.
4/9/2010 2:19:25 PM
^^ i'm not saying YOU personally have to grieve for them. just to be aware that other people ARE grieving and that flippant or casual remarks on the internet might be found by loved ones[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 2:27 PM. a guy my girlfriend went to high school with killed himself the other week by JUMPING OFF THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING.

terrible to hear about thisthere were 3 student suicides last year at the university where i work (out of 2000 total students), one was the day before graduation -- and then a physics professor killed himself a few months ago
4/9/2010 2:29:50 PM
I am sorry for being insulting of NCSU my husband was an alumni of STATE. I am hurting and can not make sense of this. I did a google and found this site and was shocked. I just assume everyone knows my child and would know things being posted were not true. I am still in shock and will not post another reply.
