haha that car poster looks ridiculous.

I might actually come to raleigh just to see this. Although I lost about half of my happiness when I read further down to find out nfg was added. Maybe it will just make the show longer but it tends to seem the more acts you add, the less you get from each act and I really want more of paramores riot stuff. This would make my 4th paramore concert.

4/18/2010 2:10:09 AM
BACKSTREET'SBACKALL RIGHT!!!
4/18/2010 3:47:17 AM
Who is doing the booking for this place? Opening show is the Backstreet Boys? Really?I know, I know, it's all about money and selling tickets. They will sell their tickets for that show, but couldn't you have gotten a more cross-gender band to play for the opening?
4/18/2010 12:10:36 PM
June 6 - Backstreet BoysJuly 23 - Paramore, Tegan & Sara, New Found Glory, and KadawathaJuly 25 - Chevelle, Sevendust, 10 Years, Shinedown and Puddle Of MuddJuly 28 - Slightly Stoopid, Cypress Hill and Collie BuddzAug 10 - OAR, Citizen CopeAug 25 - Sound Tribe Sector 9Sept 17 - BLACK CROWES TBA - Heart
4/22/2010 10:21:11 AM
that's one giant fail of a lineup
4/22/2010 10:41:05 AM
they'll sell tickets with it.
4/22/2010 10:56:02 AM
i heard the city shut down raleigh downtown live so they wouldn't have competition for the summer line-up. that's fucked up!!
4/22/2010 12:45:32 PM
not true
4/22/2010 12:47:55 PM
finally my chance to assassinate shinedown
4/22/2010 12:55:44 PM
Not only is the competition rumor untrue, it doesn't make any sense. How does a series of day-long free shows compete with a standard small/medium outdoor venue with normal (for a shed) ticket prices?
4/22/2010 3:14:48 PM
I have heard from someone who works for Budweiser that they refused to pick up the tab again this year and no other company (ie beer company) stepped up to the plate... so no mo downtown livesomething about not making any (read; enough) money
4/22/2010 3:37:28 PM
christ. that looks like a raleigh downtown live lineup except for you have to pay for it
4/22/2010 6:24:17 PM
motherfucking Cypress Hill!
4/22/2010 6:56:12 PM
Christ, I'm excited about a 3 hour Crowes show, half of which is acoustic
4/22/2010 7:26:36 PM
ill go for backstreet boys and shinedown as well
4/22/2010 7:51:41 PM
whats the price range for tickets out there?pretty sweet venue, wish they would get some better acts, but thats a pretty assorted group of well-known acts. A step up from the cover bands, has-beens, etc. that played a AA5 and Raleigh Downtown Live
4/22/2010 7:57:54 PM
^don't expect that. The better acts are mostly going to be at walnut creek and the really huge acts at the rbc. This is the medium sized venue raleigh was missing and it puts them a lot closer to charlotte in terms of music cities.
4/22/2010 8:01:39 PM
CHARLOTTE, NCCONCERT MECCA
4/22/2010 8:27:49 PM
just sayin'. but i hope it's not true.http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive/raleigh-downtown-live-not-happening-in-summer-2010/
4/22/2010 10:31:56 PM
that's true. just ask cstrom
4/23/2010 9:14:51 AM
Geez, I was hoping for at least one show I'd at least sorta want to see. Oh well.
4/23/2010 10:12:19 AM
DTL as it has existed previously isn't happening probably but I do know that there are plans being discussed to come up with something else that would be free, etc. Likely smaller, but better than nothing.
4/23/2010 1:10:30 PM
i don't know what's worse. People are actually going to pay to see the broke ass backstreet boys perform...orthat the inaugural concert at the amphitheater is indeed the Backstreet Boys....
4/23/2010 1:15:09 PM
^Even though the Backstreet Boys are clearly beyond terrible, I could see how Raleigh residents would be excited about the idea of the Backstreet Boys coming to Raleigh, not the show itself, but the idea. And that's pretty much how I feel about this amphitheatre. I won't go to any of the shows, but it's somewhat cool/exciting that it's happening.
4/23/2010 1:18:33 PM
i just think that they first concert should have been iconici mean i def think that it will be a sell outand there will be plenty, PLENTY of cougars downtown for this
4/23/2010 1:26:36 PM
I agree. It would've been cool. Backstreet Boys were probably the closest they could get to "iconic." Not that they're close to my definition of "iconic."
4/23/2010 1:29:43 PM
who gives a shit what the inaugural show for a place isno one remembers that
4/23/2010 1:29:52 PM
While they haven't had a number one record in the U.S. since 2000, Backstreet Boys' latest release reached number nine on the charts. Not too shabby for a band that hasn't really been popular since the latter part of the '90s.Whether any of us like the pick, the concert will sell and make the venue some cash money. It's what the venue needs for an inaugural show to prove to the City the investment was worth it.This is a $2.6 million dollar amphitheatre, there will be some -- in most of our opinions -- shit shows that are booked to rake in the dollars.[Edited on April 23, 2010 at 2:35 PM. 4/23/2010 2:35:50 PM
it will also bring a lot of money to the bars and restaurants around Fayetteville Street
4/23/2010 2:50:43 PM
inaugural show at the Creek was The Connells. Would you consider that iconic? As I recall it was a WRDU Earth Buddies show.
4/23/2010 3:04:07 PM
they were at least from raleigh
4/24/2010 1:18:40 PM
bumpo for Umphrey's McGee
5/6/2010 3:43:46 PM
Somebody mention The Connells?http://music.mync.com/2010/05/iwtdi-the-connells-are-totally-playing-the-raleigh-amphitheatre/
5/13/2010 1:51:06 AM
Maybe I can get them to autograph my first pressing Darker Days vinyl. I bet it would be worth like $14 then.[Edited on May 13, 2010 at 2:11 AM. Reason : l]

the one and only time I've listened to Spill Canvas I had to fight the urge to get in the fetal position and cry for a few hours
5/14/2010 7:48:46 AM
Barenaked Ladies and Ben Kweller on 7/31
5/28/2010 1:13:31 PM
i'd love to see that black crowes show in september, but i'll be living in DC by then and wouldn't be able to make it down in time good thing they're playing 2 nights at the 9:30 club in november. those guys still put on really great shows.
5/28/2010 1:23:50 PM

5/28/2010 1:38:37 PM
