2I will make an announcement regarding my new thread at ~12:00 AM
4/11/2010 6:54:34 PM
don't look now, but Herb is putting together a pretty respectable OOC schedule for next year:confirmed:UTEPNew MexicoBaylorSt. John'sNevadaDrakein the works:ColoradoLouisville
4/13/2010 9:48:51 PM
^the Baylor game is part of the Pac-10/Big 12 challenge, no? You can hardly count that. Also, LOL at Colorado being a quality OOC opponent, especially with Bzdelik leaving.[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 10:03 PM. Reason : .]
4/13/2010 10:03:41 PM
and St. John's is part of the Great Alaska Shootout....what's your point?you're telling me that if AU's staff landed Texas or Kansas in the Challenge, that fans wouldn't be happy about the OOC boost?[Edited on April 13, 2010 at 10:11 PM. Reason : ;]
4/13/2010 10:11:09 PM
I guess my point is that Herb deserves no credit for scheduling Baylor since it's part of a predetermined challenge.
4/13/2010 10:27:19 PM
I guess my point is that these teams are upgrades from USC-Upstate, San Fran, Idaho State, Florida-Gulf Coast, Delaware State, etc
4/13/2010 10:41:34 PM
VARIOUS POINTS ITT
4/13/2010 11:17:14 PM
less inflated win total... as in he will not only pick up fewer wins against crappy competition, but he will pick up fewer wins!
4/14/2010 12:38:22 AM
I just think it's interesting that ncstatetke is expecting us to fellate Sendek for doing what he should have been doing all along
4/14/2010 1:56:42 AM
I guess my point is that it's about time that he beefed up the schedule.
4/14/2010 7:39:12 AM
three freshman transfers? wtf
4/14/2010 5:04:17 PM
really??? fill me in -- i must be out of the loop
4/14/2010 5:06:34 PM
what is the % chance on herbert stealing that center from wake? 0? 25?
4/14/2010 5:10:14 PM
k not all freshman but stillTaylor RohdeBrandon ThompsonDemetrius Walkerall gone
4/14/2010 5:12:36 PM
^^ 0%first off, Carson Desrosiers hasn't requested to be released from his LOI yet.second, he liked Marquette more than ASU^ whew! I thought Rudd announced that he's transferring. i was worried. but yeah, it sucks to lose 3-star Walker (241 minutes played) and his herky-jerky shooting form...and it REALLY sucks to lose unranked Brandon Thompson (29 overall minutes played) and unranked Taylor Rohde (266 minutes played)i guess that's the price you pay for bringing in a 5 man class followed by a 6 man class. 11 guys in 2 years....not enough minutes to go around.[Edited on April 14, 2010 at 5:20 PM. uh oh, looks like sopme asu fans may be jumping ship according to the comments on thsi articlehttp://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/DougHaller/77419
4/14/2010 5:19:33 PM
you could fill the entire N&O Sunday edition with quotes from State's fringe fans if you wanted to90% of ASU fans like Herb and what's he's doing out there
4/14/2010 5:23:46 PM
[quoteIm starting to like Herb less and less myself. He's extremely knowledgeable does well recruiting and at least has made ASU competitive. But his shortening of the bench down the stretch to his failure to prepare his players for the Pac10 tourney to his horrible mismanagement of substitutions and time outs in the Jville loss have made me start to wonder. Walker and Rudd are terrific athletes who arent going to improve sitting on the bench. Wouldnt surprise me to see Rudd bail as well. Lets just hope King, Hawkins, the 7-2 center coming in next year will get us into the NCAA's which shouldnt be too hard now that looks like 96 teams will be in YIKES... [/quote]im thinking they know a lil more about asu basketball than state fans
4/14/2010 5:30:04 PM
i'm talking about State fans' comments about Statenot State comments about ASU...every program has the fringe
4/14/2010 5:31:53 PM
oic
4/14/2010 5:36:17 PM
besides, I know 5000% more about ASU, their coaches, their players, their recruits, etc than 90% of all ASU fans

huge news!http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/DougHaller/85437so the starting lineup should be:McMillan (Sr)Abbott (Sr)Kuksiks (Sr)Lockett (So)Pateev (So)
6/4/2010 10:17:51 AM
6/4/2010 10:19:59 AM
no shit!for the longest time, we all thought it was going to be McMillan, Abbott, King, Lockett and Pateevthis way, King gets to learn the system at a comfortable pace instead of being thrown straight into the fire. we all saw what being pushed too early did to Lockett's game last season
6/4/2010 10:25:51 AM
compare that to:Jordin MayesKyle FoggJamelle HorneDerrick WilliamsKyryl Natyazhkoadvantage UofA
6/4/2010 1:26:30 PM
I am a huge K-Real fan
6/4/2010 2:33:13 PM
I expected him to have a much better freshman season than he did, but hopefully he used the long break to improve his offense and positioning. Derrick Williams had a ridiculous freshman year though, and hopefully he'll continue to develop and add a more consistent outside shot to his game.
6/4/2010 3:41:36 PM
he has the body and the skills, but he doesn't have an ounce of confidence.dude passed up countless shots from 5 feet and in
6/4/2010 3:45:08 PM
6/4/2010 4:53:43 PM
maybe because he brings in seven-man recruiting classes and there aren't enough minutes to go around
6/5/2010 1:28:06 AM
good for 'ol Herb! just beat out Bob Huggins and Bruce Weber for his 6th, and final, recruit for the 2010 classKyle Cain. 6'7" 205. Originally committed to Rhode Island, but got out of his LOI. after that, he was offered by ASU, Bama, N. Illinois, WVU and UofI. Visited Champaign-Urbana and Morgantown, but apparently loved Tempe and committed yesterday on the spot.he's been compared to Joey Dorsey
6/5/2010 5:07:15 PM
so what you're saying is that he's retarded.
6/5/2010 8:02:02 PM
good for 'ol Herb! just beat out Coach K for his 7th, and final, recruit for the 2010 classCarrick Felix. JuCo transfer from Idaho. ESPN 92 rating. 6'6" 215. Originally committed to Duke, but got out of his LOI two weeks ago. after that, he was offered by ASU, Butler, South Florida, Kent State and hometown U of Idaho. Visited Tempe and apparently loved it and committed yesterday on the spot.he's been compared to Dahntay Jonesand he can dunk from the FT line
6/6/2010 11:27:43 AM
lol
6/6/2010 2:44:18 PM
Herb loves Coach K's sloppy seconds.
6/6/2010 8:54:20 PM
and he really, really wanted Olek Czyz toothat would have been bananas

Nick Johnson committed to UofA tonight, suck it Sendek.
8/19/2010 1:18:04 AM
yep, i'm sure that one stings him a bitbut....all will be forgotten if Herb lands Jahii Carson
8/19/2010 8:09:39 AM
I thought Carson was pretty much a lock to UCLA, but you never know.
8/19/2010 11:53:05 AM
8/22/2010 5:41:57 PM
8/22/2010 5:48:05 PM

He'll be on the DL in a week with his droopy face and his stupid bases on balls.
