I've been looking around Park Road as well. I got outbid on a house between Archdale and Sharon a couple weeks ago.

Archdale is the bomb. at least if you're on the east side of South Blvd.

• no huge influx of people
• go a couple miles one way: peaceful countryside
• go a couple miles the other way: all the city stuff I ever need (medical offices/centers, small mall, chain restaurants, etc) in a nice, non-development-crazy area
• race shops and NASCAR suppliers galore (a personal plus )
• want more city stuff? University area is 15 miles away.

Kannapolis is still too far from work. I would consider Pineville, Matthews, or Weddington. But nowhere else outside of Charlotte proper.
