I just picked this up as well, I'm probably not gonna start it until later this afternoon whenever I get tired of watching basketball and enjoying the nice weather. So excited to see this opening sequence

beat it today...took like 10-11 hours just enjoying my time.there's a ton of sequences that i was just like, wow that's awesome...without any spoilersafter you beat the game, when you start a new game, how do you use all the stuff you collected in a new campaign?

roommate and I were up till 4am trying to beat hades.

Does this game have a lot of replay value?
3/21/2010 10:16:35 AM
depends who you are. i played the first one once and loved it, but didnt really play it again. if you like switching up difficulties and that challenge then yes. otherwise it is a GREAT rental.

Thats what I kinda figured. I also think its looks very linear, but fitting.

I honestly thinks this has already won game of the year. I don't care what else comes out on XBOX, this game really showed what the PS3 is capable of.
3/21/2010 3:50:27 PM
don't think my roommate has stopped playing this since 10pm last night

Just beat it - played on normal difficulty and only had a couple frustrating parts so I think I'll have to do it on a harder level.

I finished it on Easy a couple days ago. If you're just starting this game, do yourself a favor and DON'T pick Easy. Kinda takes the fun out of it.Still, amazing game. I'm gonna play again on Titan.

someone let me borrow a PS3 or let me cook dinner and play your PS3, thanks

game is badass so far, my one gripe is the camera setup they use. You cannot "look around" at all, if you run past some enemies and they wind up out of your screen you cant turn around and re-adjust your camera to view them again, you have to walk back and wait until they show back up in the bottom of your screen. In other games I've played you can use the right joystick (R3) to change what you are looking at, at first it wasnt a big deal, but now that I've noticed it, I cant stop thinking about it and its gotten pretty annoying.Like I said thats the only gripe I have about this game so far.

^That's been one of the most defining aspects of the God of War series, actually...They use the static camera to craft more "epic" scenes and views, going for a more cinematic experience without actually resorting to filling the game with cut-scenes. Game design-wise, it's a trade off between greater player control versus better-looking views and framing. The GoW developers are just about the only studio I can think of that uses the static camera style and is competent enough not to completely fuck up the gameplay. It can cause the occasional problem but for the most part, the camera is panned out far enough or at a decent angle during combat scenes to keep enemies from running off of it... If the camera were able to be rotated by the player, a lot of the shots could lose the hugeness/impressiveness/"epic" atmosphere that is part of the reason GoW stands out from its clones.

I had never played GOW, so I picked up the double disc deal on Friday night & have been playing GOW ever since. I'm in Hades now trying to fight my way back to the land of the living. This game is ridiculous...probably the most fun I've had playing a video game. The cut scenes are great, and not just for the tig 'ol bitties. I'm hoping to get through this one this week, and maybe GOWII next week so I can pick up GOWIII. I'm guessing I ain't seen nothin' yet since I'm playing a game that's a couple/few years old.

Just beat it on Normal. The Ending was solid. How has no one mentioned the Aphrodite scene??? If you do it enough the two chicks on the side say some funny stuff.I agree with everyone else that Normal is way to easy. Normal on the other two took me A LOT more time b/c I kept getting killed in the battles. This game has WAAAY more health chests than the other two so you almost never have to fight with a less than full health bar.Now to check out the extras!!!

finished it last night and thought it was phenomenal. i highly recommend picking it up.

I don't own a PS3, but when I was at PAX I got to spend some time with this in the Freeplay area. After playing only 20 minutes of the first level my thought was "how I am going to convince my wife that we need a PS3?"

just finished it (haven't found time to play)wasn't too hard on Normal. A couple of battles were frustrating, but none of them took me too long (Zeus was a hard during the first battle, but once I stepped back and realized how to dodge his shit, I was fine) now it is on to the challenges!

Got the Combo pack GoW1/2. I'm really enjoying the first one. Its clearly dated but it is crisp and runs great. I am hoping by the time I finish 1 and 2 that 3 will be down in price a bit.
