Ok I haven't really watched SNL in a good while and that first sketch was pretty awful..

Opening monologue was good, what happened to the good skits though

They come and go in cycles, but SNL has been in a recession since about the mid-90s. One user has remarked that the best SNL happened in one's junior year of high school.

What sucks is that there are so many hilarious sketches that you can't find on the internet.. all you find are the 'best of' vids that they've put together for the dvd's.

OMG ITS NOT AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE

welcome to fucking life

its still good, and its still funny hence why things like "im on a boat" are in the popular conscious (sp?)

we watch it fairly often, still, and last night's was probably the least funny one I've seen in a long, long time. Pretty terrible, actually.

^^I'm waiting for Justin to wake up so we can watch it on DVR...I'll report back once we're finished

We watched the J-Lo one yesterday...opening sketch was good and the women's curling sponsorship recurring skit was good (If you got a fungal in your jungle!...) but I didn't laugh nearly as much as I had in the past few

Imma show you our new favorite--The Ricky Gervais show. We laugh and laugh and laugh at that one

SNL should be shortened to 1 hour and be all digital shorts

seems like the only good SNLs are the ones that involve Justin Timberlake, lol

yeah, SNL is perpetually "not as good as it was 5 years ago"

of course, then you look back at the cast from "5 years ago" and think, "wait, what? that can't be right - they sucked too".

The definitive answer, though, is that SNL was at is modern best during the mid-90s, with Phil Hartman, Kevin Nelon, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Tim Meadows, David Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and Norm Macdonald. That this time period coincides with the years I was in high school is complete coincidence

hosting SNL isn't really the best time for a comedian to try new material.

what they need to do is do more of these:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_Memories

it's fucking bullshit i, as of last search, could only find one of them, and that was a shitty version of someone holding up a camera to the TV.

someone find them.

No, I agree, and in the mid-90s I was around ten years old. I watched all the SNL's from that period when they used to be on Comedy Central all day, and found them to be vastly superior than the new episodes at the time.

Am I the only person under 25 who thought the Farley, Spade, Sandler, Scheinder era was pretty crappy? At least the seasons they were the focus. The seasons where they were mostly featured players were often great, though.

When Norm MacDonald was on Week-end Update, the show overall was abysmal. He was the only good thing on it.

I think I'm the only person who enjoys SNL now...I mean there are some parts that are kinda like ehhh, but then if you look back on it ever episode has those ehhh parts....

We just remember all the major most popular parts...which are from the past so we think that all the funny has only happened in the past...

I mean I think the What's up with that is always hilarious, and ESPN Women's Sports is great too

last nights episode was pretty good up until weekend update, then it went downhill pretty fast. definitely wasnt the worst episode I've seen this season

the "zach galifianakis has been in television for over 30 years" bit was good

kinda sad that jlo ended up being a better host, or at least hosting a better ep, then zach

his monologue had some funny bits, but alot of reuse from his standup

that last sketch was his best, although the character was kinda repeat of his "brother" from his standup

i found myself fast forwarding through the loving family sketch and most of the rest were jsut forgettable

opening sketch was painful

People are just to critical with it...

I found myself laughing quite a bit during this last episode!

I'm still an SNL fan...I'm just happy for DVR cause I would never watch it at the time it played

i thought it was great

but i like silliness

kinda disappointed that "what up with that?" actually involved talking to a guest at all, but they probably felt like they should at least make it worth paul rudd coming down...knowing him, though, he probably would've found it funnier without

also, i think that sketch ran long and they had to pull some jokes from the pageant sketch

but i laughed through the whole thing

hell, even VW was way better than last time

despite the fact that their new record is garbage

they actually looked interested in playing, which is a first for them and i've seen them a few times

that is always the format. he talks a bit to the first guest only, but something the guest says makes him start singing.
