You know what, fuck that. If people were talking shit about my Mom or Dad, even if in a position like that, I'd say something too.I guarantee that ignorant ass college aged kids were saying personal and uncalled for shit instead actually having an informed opinion and reasoning.Flame away.
2/18/2010 9:53:06 AM
Just wearing a shirt or yelling Fire Fowler isn't very bad in my opinion. It wasn't like people were yelling stuff at his daughter or any family insults. I can understand sticking up for my Dad, but patrolling the lower level of the RBC for 'dissenters' who think her Dad is a bad AD is a bit over the top.

2/18/2010 10:00:54 AM
If my dad was in a line of work that was highly performance based and people who had a vested interest in his line of work were calling for him to be fired, I wouldn't go up to those people and try to defend my dad and tell them that they're wrong or anything to that effect. That would be my dad's issue and not mine. If Lee himself wants to come out and have a press conference defending his decisions, then he can be my guest. But to have your daughter parading around the RBC calling out band members and students for chanting or wearing t-shirts supporting the firing of "daddy" is downright gutless. The only thing that it shows is that the entire Fowler family is as much frustrated with being called out as we are frustrated with Coach Lee's performance as AD. Saying things like "you are doing no good for your university" does nothing to help the situation. Remember that she came up to a student and said this. The only thing a student can do is cheer for their team and support them. Asking for the AD to have some sort of accountability, especially considering his awful track record in 10 years here, is not absurd. The easy response is that Lee Fowler has done nothing good for the University in 10 years, so what harm is a t-shirt. Lee Fowler's daughter, please kindly shut the fuck up. Oh and jklohr is gay.

somebody has a lot of $5 bills laying aroundlots of brand new names popping up lately
2/18/2010 10:13:53 AM
i'm saying "fire fowler" in a more productive way this year - ending my annual contributions to the wolfpack club, discontinuing my football PSLs, and not renewing my football season tickets. so that's ~$2000 not coming into the athletics program directly due to the university's decision to keep fowler around. i can't continue to support any organization that doesn't fire incompetent people. i'll still make my contribution to the engineering school, but i'm done with athletics for now.and i'm definitely not the only one. the university will get the point and shit can him soon enough.

^ Congratulations. You are doing, by far, the most effective thing you can possibly do in this situation.Wallets speak louder than words and always will.^4 students will NEVER, EVER, EVER have a voice in the way things are run within the Athletic Department. Sorry but that is the reality of the situation. You'll realize this as you get older. And you guys are assuming she is "parading around" defending her Dad, which I highly doubt is the case. Someone probably said something personal or uncalled for and she responded. I was in the student section for 4 years recently. I know how it goes...[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 10:31 AM. See my second line.^ lol, it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and I'm sure most, if not all, of that goes to administrative costs.[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 10:36 AM. Reason : x]

^^^sorry bud we didn't say a damn thing about him. we were simply wearing the shirt. it was unprovoked.
2/18/2010 10:41:24 AM
I'll admit, I laughed at this thread, but poor decision by Fowler's daughter to allow herself to be trolled by a tshirt

2/18/2010 10:45:25 AM
I don't blame his daughter for sticking up for him. Anyone would do the same for their parents. Heck, I admire that she is willing to confront people talking shit about her dad. I'd respect Fowler more if he would respond in a reasonable manner to his critics. Oh wait, he thinks it's only the "lunatic fringe" that wants him gone for being by far the worst AD in the ACC over his tenure.I almost hate to say it right now, but I actually hope Fowler doesn't get fired until next year because if he does, Lowe will be soon after, we lose our prized recruiting class and we are back to where we started four years ago.

LOL at students thinking they have a say in the hiring/firing process of administrators and coaches because they their parents pay a small athletics feeyou people are fucking HILARIOUS
2/18/2010 10:53:14 AM
Too much defense of Fowler ITT
2/18/2010 10:58:52 AM
^^^No, if Fowler was replaced now, that would guarantee Sid would stay another year...no way a new AD would up and fire the basketball coach as soon as he showed up. Hell, his first order of business might be to hire a volleyball coach...its been almost 3 months since Stubbs was fired. Thats why Fowler needs to go now, so we dont have to sit through another Fowler coaching search next spring.
2/18/2010 11:01:02 AM

2/18/2010 11:27:19 AM
^^Exactly. And that's why things like chanting Fire Fowler and wearing t-shirts are the only things students can do to attempt to get the attention of the rest of the fan base and the higher ups in the BOT. It's not like it's no secret that Fowler is doing a terrible job. It's even been brought up at the faculty senate meetings who generally don't care or have a desire to care about anything athletics related at State. People are starting to realize that athletics have a huge affect on a University as a whole. For example, UNC has way more out of State applicants than us because of their basketball prowess. App. State's applications went through the roof after they beat Michigan. The more that the "average fan" and the students focus their energy on the removal of someone like Fowler, the more pressure it puts on the University to produce success. So what is it hurting to wear a t-shirt like that? The only thing it hurts is the feelings of Coach Lee and his family. At this point, I don't think that feelings matter to too many people anyways.
2/18/2010 11:30:58 AM
You students do know that if you wear offensive shirts you can get kicked out and have your student tickets revoked. FYI
2/18/2010 12:08:44 PM
Lee Fowler? Is that you?
2/18/2010 12:10:59 PM
This thread is useless without pics.

someone find that thread where his daughter posted. ^^^ looks pretty familiar. OH LOOK AT PACKERS POSTING HISTORY.YOUR DAD SUCKS AT HIS JOB, FOWLER JR.and fire fowler shirts aren't offensive to anyone but him and his kid apparently[Edited on February 18, 2010 at 12:19 PM. I can't imagine that is actually her, it would be about the dumbest thing she could do short of leaving her luxury suite at a basketball game to talk shit to a student wearing a 'fire fowler' shirt... oh waitAnd nobody is going to get their tickets taken away for 'fire fowler' shirts, ever
2/18/2010 12:23:20 PM
^ one of his daughter's conveniently played for Stubbs for a year or two. Look at her posting history. C'mon people. 2+2 = 4

I refuse to believe it, it would be too hilarious

I would love for someone to try and take student tickets away for me wearing an 'offensive shirt'. If "Fire Fowler" is an offensive shirt then I've seen far worse in many different places. There is no profanity, insults, or anything else on there one may ever deem offensive. ^ Also I happen to know that they aren't the same person. They just know each other.
2/18/2010 12:39:51 PM
havent read any of this thread, but i like how its focusing some attention away from the Sidney Lowe credibility thread
2/18/2010 12:46:54 PM
Man you guys really are as dumb as you sound.Let's break it down.If you were the NUMBER 1 recruit in the nation in basketball or football. And you came on an official visit to NCSU, where they take you to a basketball/football game (to show you what NCSTATE represents) to get you to commit. And you see the fans... booing the players, coaches, AND the athletic department... would you (being the number 1 player in the nation)... want to go there?Hell yes, I would want to go to a school with unsupportive fans! I want to go to a college where the coach might not be there for my stay.So who's fault it is really? And whoever said Bobby Purcell hired T.O? Bobby is the head of the wolfpack club and does a wonderful job fund raising... he has nothing to do with hires. So either give him the blame and the credit for all the hires (including sidney)..... or give it to Lee.
2/18/2010 12:54:05 PM
which NUMBER1 recruit was in the house last night?
2/18/2010 12:55:30 PM
Yes because facilities are the only thing that matters in college athletics. Do I like having nice facilities? Yes, but I'd rather still be playing in Thompson Gym and Riddick if we had top programs. Also our fans wouldn't be so unsupportive of our athletic department if Fowler would stop saying things like we shouldn't expect to compete with UNC/Duke in basketball, we're on track for our goals this season (last place should NEVER be the goal), etc. It's a comedy of errors, we're the door mat of the ACC in numerous sports. What are we supposed to do? Cheer about that and praise Lee Fowler for making Carter-Finley a fun place to watch games that are generally pretty terrible games? He's botched numerous coaching searches and simply covering up mistakes by firing his own hires and hiring new coaches doesn't mean he's doing a good job.

I'm not saying you should praise him. I'm just saying you shouldn't bash him in that arena. Fill his inbox or go to his office or something else. We don't need to be turning away recruits who could potentially help our program regardless of whether lee is here or not, i want to be good. and the players actually have something direct to do with that. We are still trying to sign a player from holy cross, and things like this don't help. They are students too and they hear what goes on about a program.

games we could've or should've won: Arizona, Florida, Virginia (game 1), Clemson, @GT, vs UMDassume for arguments sake that we lost the Duke game, to balance things out if you willwe're so close to being 19-8 and 5-7 in conference its not even funnywe're obviously not 19-8, but a few bounces go our way and we could be...and people would be bitching so much less

Dear Packer,What you may not realize is that TOB had his name in the hat for every head coach position for at least the previous 2 years before we hired him. So to say your old man did a good job hiring him is a joke. MAYBE he realized what an ass he made of us all with the basketball coach search and went for the sure thing. You may think it was smart move but I feel it is nothing more than laziness, being unqualified, and not caring. Your dad is a horrible horrible ADand nobody cares about the volleyball team, I got in more exercise walking to and from Wood Hall for class than either your practices or game.
2/18/2010 1:07:22 PM
2/18/2010 1:10:04 PM
you think lee fowler is okay with last place? You've got to be joking. Logically, to keep his job he wouldn't WANT to be last place. Just as the players don't WANT to lose... it happens. fowler is an athlete. read his bio. I don't know many d1 athletes that aren't competitive. i'm pretty sure his family and him hate losing, its not just a game to them like it is to us. its their life. and the fans are cheering for someone to lose their job. its not a funny matter. If any of you work, you know its not funny. and if you don't work and your parents pay for everything you know its not funny either... cause then your shit out of luck. so instead of booing, which does nothing... do something about it. talk to someone, try to fix it. talk to lee or bobby or whoever and find things out.
