Debbie Downer just told me that there is a 30-40% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday in Downtown Raleigh

From NOAA

Quote :
"Saturday: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Chance of precipitation is 20%."

Maybe it'll be OK

the very first beer festival i went to in durham was during a downpour. it did not detract in any way from the enjoyment of the experience.

I unfortunately wont be in attendance, but wanted to give a heads up for Lagunitas Brewing Co. Never had a bad beer from them. Sadly, being more of a west coast beer, i havent been able to find any around here...yet

Anyways, enjoy!

Went last year, going again this year. Hoping to sample more varieties of beers this time around. After I found the Highland booth last year, it was over. I'm not sure I moved the rest of the night.

30% chance until about 11pm: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=27601&hourly=1&yday=113&weekday=Saturday

i trust weather underground and since i tend not to worry about predictions 40% and under, i'm not gonna let it bother me, OKAY?

my company employs 2 fulltime meteorologists because of the industry we're in

here's the 1pm email update

bring a raincoat

Quote :
"The remainder of the day could see a slight chance for light showers this afternoon into the evening. However, the best chance for any rain will come tomorrow afternoon into Sunday as a cold front approaches the area. There will also be a threat of severe storms Saturday night into early Sunday. We will send out more updates and details over the weekend if the severe weather threat continues to look likely tomorrow night into Sunday. "

good thing i'm going to the afternoon session and not the evening, eh?

i predict that we'll get sprinkles or mist, at most, during the afternoon session...i'll opt for clothes that dry quickly, rather than toting around a raincoat or umbrella

we brought our own pretzels (and chips!) last year, but we snuck them in using my fiancée's purse

do they care if you bring in water? i forget...but i'd really like to bring my nalgene and some pretzels/chips...do you have to hide things or do they not care?

a $200/ticket wine festival/fundraiser i went to over the winter was shut down early due to a blizzard, and if i have a repeat i'm not going to be a happy camper

i know...but i didn't know if it was okay because you could see the food (not in a bag), or if they'll confiscate a big ol' bag o' doritos

^^ Last year I walked in to both the Raleigh and Durham Beerfests with pretzel necklaces on. I don't think you'll have an issue.

i get the feeling if you brought a nalgene bottle and looped it on your belt they might try to take it. mainly cuz they want you to buy $4 bottled water inside.

Do they? I dunno, I have never been. I just assumed nothing was free

If they give out free bottled water, then who needs a Nalgene?

At the very least there's free water you use to rinse out your glass after you drink.

So you could always just drink that.

Pretty sure they have free bottles of water. Free sodas too. I don't remember where they are, but they're there (or were last time I went).

i'm pretty sure there's no free water or sodas (unless i completely missed that area), so perhaps i'll bring a small bottle of water in case they confiscate it (though i agree that i don't know why they would)...i shall also bring salty snacks, both in necklace and bag-of form

if you are hungry and see me, i shall give you some upon request

There is free water at every booth, the water they have available for rinsing cups is also for drinking (not just me saying that, last year they specifically stated that in the booklet, recommending that you fill up your cup at every station)

this will be my 4th festival in Moore Square, and at each of the previous 3, they had a shit ton of free bottled water directly between the two tents, right next to one of the entrances

and every year they seem to have more water

I do believe that the rain has put off patio-building until next weekend. We'll be at one of the two sessions tomorrow...just trying to round up a few people to go with us

^^^I really feel that I get $40 worth while I'm there...if you think about it you could go to Flying Saucer and order 60 different beers to try and rack up a tab of WAY more than $40

Probably a lost cause at this point, but my best friend and his girlfriend just upped and decided they want to go.

If anyone is trying to get rid of two tickets to the night session, PM me please.
