I applied to take some undergrad classes at state this fall.Planning on going back and doing their MSA program next year, but I haven't done serious math since Saddam was in power. Hopefully this will be a good refresher. Also, chasing freshman tail.

I want to go back to school really bad, but I'm in no way financially able to right now.I've backed myself into some bizarre, super-specific management career that I do NOT want to do, nor did I plan to do but needed employment to live and eat.Every time I try to save up money, some catastrophe happens that drains any extra funds I was able to scrape together. Not going to give up though

I started at State in the Fall of 2002. I double majored in Microbiology and Biochemistry, and minored in Genetics. I graduated in December 2006. Afterward I got a job doing orthopedic research in a lab at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and did that for over 2 years before going back for medicine. I planned it all that way b/c doing what I did in undergrad burnt me out. I think going back to school is great. I don't agree that everyone does super fantastic though, but that also depends on what you are studying. Although I adjusted well to having to study all the time, I had to get back into the groove of taking tests and testing strategy. During my first semester there were a few tests where I erased my first answer and put down another, only to later realize that I had the correct answer originally.

I need to go back and finish school. I have 2 classes left for my degree, and have been putting them off for almost 2 years now.

there's one person each in their 50s, 40s, 30s in our 1L class at Elon and it's clear that having that life experience is helpful for themhopefully they're not going too huge into debt because they have less time to work it off and enjoy the spoils but i already talked with them and they didnt go back to school for the same reason alot of the younger kids did (trouble finding a job or work) they actually went back because things for them were going well but they wanted to expand their abilities and have more independence, "keeping" their clients rather then passing them onto someone else when they couldn't be of any help legally

When I was a senior in Chemistry, I would run into my Dad on campus. There were other older people he had a study group with and he seemed to like it. He was in his early fifties, and taking classes so he could go to nursing school at Duke. He retired after 20 years at IBM and he is still a nurse now and definitely doesn't regret it.

I am really concerned that I am never going to find a job outside of teaching, so I have started considering going back to school. I'd like to get back into chemistry or biology, but the only major university around me with a decent program is Rutgers, and I am not so certain about spending that much money to be in school another two years. Getting to my point- anybody else here go back to school and stumble across other sources of funding than loans? Most other financial aid is out the window given I already have a BS, and 12k a semester is hard to swallow (for a state school, egad!)

Whoa, I can post in here now!I'm doing this- graduated in 05, worked for about 4 years as a lab tech, started taking pre-reqs for nursing school in January '09, now I'm in full time at NC Central in their nursing program, while working part-time still (20 hrs/week) as a lab tech. I should get out spring/winter 2012, course load and no apocalypse permitting.
