^^^I think it would be hard to argue that the Yankees are not the biggest/most important sports franchise in the world, but I don't know that the manager position of the team is the most prestigious. Football is a coach and quarterback dominated game. These are the guys that get all the press and most of the glory and shame. Baseball is a much more player dominated game. Sure the manager is important, but the position doesn't carry the same weight as football coach.[Edited on December 3, 2009 at 10:41 AM. Reason : ^]

I would or is there a big difference between 26 WS titles and 27?

http://espn.go.com/page2/s/caple/030418.htmlESPN had ND 1, Yankees 2Hard to argue any combination of those two isn't 1-2. Jaybee has probably never lived in a big sports town so it's hard to take his opinion very seriously on this matter (not trolling -- seriously, it's hard to explain exactly how the Yankees are treated by the NYC media unless you've lived there). Baseball in New York City is, plain and simple, front page stuff. It's the ONLY sport that matters 24/7/365. It's the biggest city in the country. It's the biggest media market in the country. They spend the most money in the sport. The pressure, prestige and money that comes from that job is flat out ridiculous.*** And if you're going to say that about Dallas Green, I'll counter with Mike fucking Shula a #2 Alabama. Are you kidding me?[Edited on December 3, 2009 at 12:01 PM. Reason : lol at Dennis Franchione leaving 'Bama for Texas A&M]

I'd make the argument that Jaybee's passion for the Hawks rivals most NY'ers for the Yankees, what with his season tickets, face paint and authentic Zaza Pachulia jersey

i would make the argument that it's hard to include professional teams in this. but that's b/c i think professional sports are meaningless.

Yeah as soon as John Wall exhausts his eligibility at Kentucky, he should spend the next 30 years making cold calls for State Farm

Honestly, I think being either the GM or owner of the Yankees is far more prestigious. The manager of the Yankees is always treated like a bum, and using the criteria established in your quote is someone (who compared to those around him) has neither influence nor wealth.[Edited on December 3, 2009 at 2:21 PM.
