I wonder if Destiny will ever catch up with the previous ship(s) that are laying down the gate network. Like maybe one got caught up in an attack and was seriously damaged or something.
10/22/2009 9:50:02 AM
Plot sucks so far IMO.Why didn't they use the flying camera (Keno?) to shut the shuttle door? Why the fuck did they abandon the people who went through the gate to the other planet? (No attempt to contact, no further reference in the episode?) What the fuck was the deal with the sentient dust devil things? When they arrived on the desert planet, why didn't they send the Keno straight up to get a bird's eye view to figure out where the fuck they needed to go?At the end of episode 3 (counting the premier as 1&2) the ship ejected something, what? Couldn't have been the shuttle with the senator's body, because they talk about still having him in episode 4.
10/22/2009 11:26:55 PM
They were testing for a certain type of sand, pretty sure the keno wouldn't have been helpful. They couldn't go back for the others because there was no time, however eli did keep trying to radio them while he was on the desert planet.Dust devil things were retarded.Pretty sure we aren't suppose to know what the shuttle thing is yet.
10/23/2009 2:04:43 AM
^^ something didn't eject, an alien shuttle took offand as ^ pointed out, eli kept dialing that planet and got no radio response. we also don't know the limitations of the kino. it may have enough power to hover a few feet off the ground but may not be able to attain high altitudes. The dust devils i originally thought they might have something about some ascended ancient trying to aid them, etc. But i want to say i remember them saying a line about "no life as we know it" when they first get to the planet.
10/23/2009 5:34:07 PM
^^^ pretty dumb reasons to hate the plot. the shuttle had a safeguard in it so that the door would only close when someone was inside of it. they addressed that in the episode.
10/23/2009 7:20:16 PM
Lame.
10/23/2009 9:49:14 PM
this is the worst fucking show
10/23/2009 9:49:41 PM
that was disappointing.
10/24/2009 11:28:54 AM
at least they flew into the sun and not just skimmed the surfaceright.....?im looking for positives here.anyone think Rush knew what was going to happen?
10/24/2009 2:04:31 PM
OH MY GOD!WHAT IF HE KNEW?let it go...BUT WHAT IF HE KNEW?!?!
10/24/2009 2:12:09 PM
I don't think he knew.
10/24/2009 2:13:12 PM
how silly was that series of events
10/24/2009 2:13:58 PM
has everyone given up on this show?
11/1/2009 7:15:04 PM
I didn't think the most recent episode was that bad, although I don't have much hope for the show lasting too long either.
11/1/2009 7:19:09 PM
The show is doing pretty good in the ratings. #2 show on the network behind Ghost Hunters. Given that, and the name recognition alone, I'd wouldn't expect the show to get canceled anytime soon.
11/1/2009 9:17:10 PM
a lot of people "hated" atlantis at first too and it went 5 seasons. anyway, I still like the show. I like Young more after that episode as well.
11/1/2009 11:03:32 PM
I think it's slowly, very slowly, picking up some steam. This last episode wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. It was nice to finally see some kind of alien interaction and conflict outside of the regular "omg the ship is brokenzzzz".I was really kind of hoping Scott would die in that ice chasm. He annoys me for some reason. In typical tv fashion however a "miracle" happens and he lives to see another day.
11/1/2009 11:44:28 PM
I missed why they dropped out of ftl. Did the ship know they needed water or can they control that now?
11/2/2009 1:28:21 AM
the ship drops out of ftl to meet it's needs and the needs of its passengers, it did it for the sand (which i guess helps breakco2 down), and it stopped for hydrogen atoms from the star (right now I'm assuming that the ship uses a fusion reaction to make power and would therefore need a lot of light atoms every few hundred years or so)
11/2/2009 2:02:41 AM
Last weeks episode (108, "Time") wasn't that bad I feel. Finally we saw some off world conflict with alien creatures and an actual story that involved something outside of the ship's systems taking a giant crap all over themselves. That being said, it appears that a lot of people continue to critique this show negatively. I can't say I blame them as I include myself in that grouping. What is hilarious is that the producers/directors/writers behind this show seem utterly ignorant in taking criticism from the Stargate fan-base. They cite that despite the criticism, SGU is still ranking really well in ratings (currently #2 on Syfy behind Ghost Hunters) and turn around calling anyone who hates the show an idiot. The epic fail on that rationality is that the reason why the ratings are like that is probably because you have dedicated Stargate fans who will watch despite they are airing and keep trying to give it a chance to succeed. Some interesting reads which include some of those responses:http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/11/stargate-universe-syfy-.htmlhttp://io9.com/5404417/how-stargate-universe-can-win-back-your-loveJoe Mallozzi (a writer for SGU) goes on one hell of a rant:http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2009/10/31/october-31-2009-that-long-overdue-rant-and-a-behind-the-scenes-vid-from-water[Edited on November 16, 2009 at 7:03 AM. ^ haha i like this part in his rant:
11/16/2009 11:30:16 PM
If you think Lt. McBoobs was cast for any other reason except for her rack....you're an idiot.
11/17/2009 1:02:06 PM
I mean, if the writers had given us ANYTHING to work with besides the fact that she has giant boobs, then I could see their argument. As it stands, yeah, so far that's her sole defining feature.I've discussed this show with 2 other Stargate fan(atics) and all three of us have came to the same two conclusions. 1) No matter how horrible this show is, we will continue to watch it because it has the Stargate name attached and 2) The show is absolutely horrible. :-/
11/17/2009 8:51:12 PM
^,^^Agreed. I mean come on, really. They basically shove the camera right in her boobs in one episode where she's wearing a paper thin t-shirt. You don't even have to use your imagination to see what's going on under there as the set must have been really cold that day.Sadly I also fall in that same category of where I will watch just because "Stargate" is in front of the show name. That's why their viewership is so high. They can claim whatever bs they want, but the sheer fact that the majority of the internet is saying the same thing about this series is not just a coincidence. This is a sci-fi show. What you are seeing commented on the internet about the show is what probably most of the viewers are thinking about the show."Stargate Universe, brought to you by the same narrow minded idiots that decided to rename Sci Fi to Syfy."[Edited on November 17, 2009 at 9:02 PM. I think its funny that the newest episode specifically features a chick who is sleeping around to realize stress....
11/21/2009 8:37:00 AM
I don't see anything wrong with what Rush did.
11/21/2009 9:49:55 PM
/\ what, he's there for one reason, to figure the ship out, he doesn't give a hoot in hell about going home, his family is gone, and that kind of guy has no friends. he lied about the planet, and he lied about why he lied. and he must really think that the chair will kill or really fuck u up if he hasn't just jumped in it yet. if he lied about the planet for the reason he said, and talked with young first i'd agree with the move. the guy is an arrogant git
11/21/2009 10:33:09 PM
this show is starting to get dangerously close to soap opera material. if it goes much further in that direction, i may be forced to abandon it
11/21/2009 11:14:24 PM
^ yeah, I actually fast-forwarded through some of the parts when they were back on earth because they were so painful to watch. I’ve never had to do that before when watching a new episode of anything.
11/22/2009 2:10:18 AM
form a line to use the stones to go back to earth and fuck loved ones with other peoples dicksi'm glad it takes half of each episode to do this!!!1
11/22/2009 10:28:34 AM
i will admit, however, that hearing flogging molly in the opening/closing scenes made me happy
11/22/2009 10:44:06 AM
oh shit. what's rush gonna do.
12/5/2009 1:51:41 PM
he's gonna show up in an episode or two in that alien ship
12/5/2009 2:10:17 PM
^ winnar
12/6/2009 4:18:10 AM
I think the real question is what hallucination/flashback is going to help him fix the space ship
12/6/2009 4:45:45 AM
Oh shit Rush is fucked. But would love for him to show up and be like, sup bitches?
12/8/2009 3:20:12 AM
he will
12/8/2009 4:30:29 PM
ttt
4/10/2010 3:45:14 AM
yea so, this last episode, HOLY SHIT ALIENS.
4/10/2010 2:33:00 PM
I hope they are not setting those guys up to be the "villain" of this series... WAY too early for that. But, I still think it has potential...
4/10/2010 3:01:23 PM
Last two episodes have been pretty good. Finally alien conflict and weapons.
4/10/2010 3:48:34 PM
Why though are they still so low on energy...?Didn't they just refuel in a star and stuff?
4/10/2010 3:54:23 PM
Well they were in a space fight with those aliens in the second to last episode (Space 1:2 - #111) which drained their shields and the weapons use contributed to that. This episode (Divided 2:2 - #112) they were involved in a fight with the aliens yet again so that drained their shields even more.[Edited on April 10, 2010 at 4:21 PM. Reason : -]
4/10/2010 4:19:31 PM
seems they cant flush a toilet without draining all the ships energy though. need to get some new energizers up in that piece.
4/10/2010 4:32:18 PM
why is it too early in the series to create a villain? maybe not having them as a full-time part of the plot but it's nice to know they aren't completely focusing on drama from within the ship. SG-1 and Atlantis both had heavyyyyyyyyyyyy enemy contact from the first episodes. (yes i know sg-1 started with the movie but still.)
4/12/2010 10:28:13 PM
They just need more dilithium crystals to get that flux capacitor going good.
4/13/2010 11:01:02 AM
bttt new ep tonight entitled Faith
4/16/2010 8:36:01 PM
So I'm guessing some people did stay on that planet. Of the 11 that said they were going to stay - Cloe, TJ, and Matt went back at least so there's a possible 8 that aren't back on the ship? Could be completely wrong and more people jumped back on board Destiny, but I really didn't recognize any of those other minor characters in the closing video sequence.
4/16/2010 10:21:14 PM
maybe. probably irrelevant since that was the only episode they were ever in. i like this show still. i think it's going to turn out alright
