Venti iced Americano with two to three Splenda. Four Splenda if I'm splurging.Occasionally, I get back into the caramel macchiatos or the seasonal treats, and the weight gain is almost immediate. Most recently, I gained about a pound off pumpkin spice lattes in like less than a week. And, in terms of drinking local, it's not entirely evident that local is always better.
9/30/2009 2:34:01 PM
Americano is espresso and water right?
9/30/2009 2:35:05 PM
Support your french press or automatic drip coffee maker. They need lovin' too
9/30/2009 2:35:58 PM
we registered for a 10-cup coffee maker when we got married cuz we thought it was the right thing to do. neither of us knows how to use it, and it's only been used like 3 times - when my mom was staying with us
9/30/2009 2:37:32 PM

9/30/2009 2:41:55 PM
it's got buttons and timers and stuff. if i read the book i'd figure it out. but i don't ever want to make coffee at home, so i don't bother hey at least i know you have to grind the beans before you put them in there! ]
9/30/2009 2:42:33 PM

Thumper, I want to hear of you passing out from a caffeine crash before the end of the week.
9/30/2009 2:57:36 PM
i have Starbucks lattes 3 times a week at least. There will be no caffeine crash
9/30/2009 2:58:27 PM
What I don't understand is stopping at $bux before work. All that time in veering off/altering one's route to work, parking, waiting in line, paying, etc...those are precious minutes of sleep given up
9/30/2009 3:01:10 PM
9/30/2009 3:01:27 PM
hahah the Starbucks i hit never has a line. ever. and it isn't even out of my way. i take a right into the shopping center and then get right back on course. it seriously takes me less than 5 minutes to pull in, get my drink, and pull out. in the drive-thru, of course.....but starbucks is costing me lots of dollarbucks. eh, i'm a baller, i can swing it.]

Eek!! Peppermint Mocha with Skim Milk and No Whip. Best EVAR!
9/30/2009 3:09:03 PM
When espresso is brewed, the coffee grounds are more tightly packed and are finely ground. It's a "high-pressure brew" so you get a smaller amount of coffee with a stronger taste. As far as caffeine content goes... one shot of espresso has half the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee but espresso has a higher concentration amount.
9/30/2009 3:12:42 PM
Tim hortons has awesome coffee too!
9/30/2009 3:15:35 PM
Is Port City Java in Raleigh yet? There's a chain I'll support, if not going to a local shop. But yeah, local all the way. I don't hate Starbucks, because I don't go there for a real cup of coffee. It's sortof like getting mad at Nickelback for butchering Tchaikovsky
9/30/2009 3:26:30 PM

^ next time you should try a skim cafe au lait w/ sugar free chocolate, a shot of espresso, and foam on top.
10/1/2009 9:01:59 AM
is that mostly milk (like a latte) or mostly foam? i like liquid with my drink.
10/1/2009 9:05:40 AM
haha it has hardly any foam (unless you asked for more).. think the amount of foam you would get with a lattea cafe au lait is half coffee and half steamed milk... I would put 1 pump sugar free chocolate (sometimes I would add in cinnamon), put about 1/3 - 1/2 coffee, then fill with steamed skim (or 2%) until about half an inch from the top then fill the rest with foam.and sometimes I'd add whip cream on top of the foam.[Edited on October 1, 2009 at 9:08 AM. Reason : half an inch, not a whole inch]
10/1/2009 9:07:54 AM
hmmm....doesn't sound too bad. does it have more of a coffee taste than a latte? cuz i don't like straight coffee
