Also following Fallout history was he was trying to get to the West, were the Fallout games started. The Brotherhood of Steel collected and preserved technology was the same as the people collecting and preserving archives of American history. Hell, the gun fights almost seemed turned-based with a few critical misses and a loss of your turn or some action points haha![Edited on January 16, 2010 at 11:30 AM. Reason : /]

idk i thought it was ok.. a bit too much slow mo for my taste which added to the slowness of the whole movie even though the actual runtime wasn't long. really i had high hopes for the movie that the movie didnt live up to, especially towards the end.6/10
1/16/2010 12:09:09 PM
^^ ha, i got the impression that someone involved with the film has seen the fallout series.i mean couldn't you see the nice old house with the cannibal elderly couple as a random encounter?
1/16/2010 8:04:52 PM
I sure could. Actually, the elderly couple seem to be more of a spin off of the people of Andale in Fallout 3.[Edited on January 16, 2010 at 9:26 PM. Reason : /]

The Road is a MUCH, MUCH better movie than this, but this one was okay.

1/17/2010 1:02:54 AM
^^ I literally JUST found out about The Road tonight. I have NO idea how I missed that one.I saw Book of Eli tonight. It was good, not great. The art direction was phenomenal. There was OBVIOUS Fallout 3 influence.I would fuck Mila Kunis' vagina into oblivion, but she is a TERRIBLE actress. In the scene where Eli locks her in the spring, all I could see in my head was Meg from Family Guy whining. That was a HUGE mistake on the part of the directors. You never ever ever take someone who's known mostly for their voice acting role out of the picture and let them keep talking unless you're TRYING to remove legitimacy from the scene.

^ yea i'm an avid family guy viewer and i didn't think "howd meg get in the cave?" but then again i tend to 'get into' movies i enjoy a lot, so it wouldn't really occur to me. haha when i see it again though i'll definitely be thinking about it
1/17/2010 2:48:16 PM
I promise you more people know her as Meg than they do as the girl from That 70s Show.Family Guy was canceled ONCE, is still going, has a much broader appeal, and runs in syndication on 4 different networks. That 70s Show doesn't even run in syndication AFAIK.
1/17/2010 4:24:02 PM
It's a good thing I don't watch either of those shows. So I had no problems with her in this role.
1/17/2010 4:27:21 PM
^^ i kept hearing Meg's voice too during this movie. It made it more comical than it should have been.[Edited on January 17, 2010 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ]

christian propaganda

^ Nah, more about preservation of the bible, just as any other piece of our history. Also, to illustrate the power it once had, and how the power of it caused some fool to do stupid things to obtain it, and he got right was he was a after, a bible, but with a catch or two.
1/17/2010 6:35:36 PM
right, living in a closet. That 70's Show is syndicated... on something like 6 channels (tvguide has it listed as airing 50+ times this coming week). Has been remade in 2 countries and airs all over the world.Family Guy was canceled twice I believe. Although, it wasn't taken off of the air the first time. Fox had canceled it but ended up needing a 30 minute show, so they kept it. It jumped around to multiple time slots, fox canceled it again and went through with it. Cartoon Network aired it for adult swim, which has such a broad audience. And then because of the success there and in DVD sales Fox brought it back. That 70's show had 8 seasons. Family guy is on it's 8th season (a little easier when the actors playing your teenage characters don't age. Or you don't have to worry about the actors wanting to move from TV to movies).Don't get me wrong, i think Family guy has a large audience. But That 70's Show did have/has a large audience, whether you realize it or not. And I'm not sure that Family Guys reaches as large of an age range compared to That 70's Show.I expect people in our age range and younger to be more likely to pick her voice out as that of Meg. But not necessarily people too much older (maybe low 30's).
1/17/2010 6:40:41 PM
She's obviously more recognizable as Jackie (or that annoying girl from That 70's Show) than she is as Meg from Family Guy. I mean, in one show, you only hear her voice, and in the other, you hear her voice and see her image. With the exception of maybe James Earl Jones, average Joes don't even pay attention to voice acting.Syndication is practically moot at this point, but if you wanna get into it...Family Guy is syndicated on three networks (Cartoon Network, CW, and TBS), and That 70's Show is syndicated on three as well (FX, MyRDC, and ABCFamily). And we could compare ratings for the original airings, too...Family Guy viewers (in millions): 12.8, 6.32, 4.5, 7.89, 8.28, 7.94, 7.56, TBAThat 70's Show viewers (millions): 14.7, 11.06, 9.1, 11.1, 10.06, 11.04, 7.0, 5.8Granted, people watch TV less now that broadband has proliferated, but come on...y'all crazy!

1/18/2010 10:17:38 PM
well how does he read the bible and do all those really cool fight scenes if he's blind??
1/18/2010 10:19:13 PM
The bible was written in braille. I dunno how he fought and all that jazz. In the end when the light was casted over his eyes you could see the discoloration (or whatever it is) that is consistent with blindness.
1/18/2010 10:20:59 PM
you guys forgot Evan Rachel Wood. She is hotter than FUCK in my mind.

***** SPOILER ALERT ******
1/18/2010 11:51:15 PM
^ yep.also when he was checking the abandoned house at the very beginning of the movie, he pushed the plates into each other so he knew the dimensions of the kitchen, and how he would back into roomsplus how he heard the vulture flying overhead and shot it down with one arrow sight unseen
1/19/2010 12:01:35 AM
at the old couple's house, he kicked at the step to find it.and.... he sure did let a lot of people die for a book he had memorized.[Edited on January 19, 2010 at 12:24 AM. Reason : .]
1/19/2010 12:23:15 AM
^because he forgot why he was protecting the book. Once he remembered again he let the physical book go.

spoiler***okay...i can see that^^^^. What about the part in the beginning, in the dilapidated house, when he opens the door and is scared by the hanging body? If i remember correctly, he was scared by site, no?[Edited on January 19, 2010 at 1:02 AM. Reason : f]
1/19/2010 1:02:20 AM
This movie sounds ridiculous and not very good.
1/19/2010 1:07:55 AM
its alright...a redbox id say
1/19/2010 1:09:12 AM
^^^i dont quite remember that scene exactly. I would like to see that again because I'd want to see if the body had dropped when he opened the door or if it was perfectly motionless or if his reaction was based off of smelling a foul strong odor the minute he opened the door. It would be silly of the director not to include some kind of subtle hint that he's blind in that scene IMO.[Edited on January 19, 2010 at 1:11 AM. Reason : ^]
1/19/2010 1:11:08 AM
yeah, i see what you mean. I'm pretty certain, the hanging man was still, and i don't recall if Eli made some sort of notion that the body smelled or not. Also, in the beginning, when hijacker number 1 gets his hand chopped off, i dont believe he touched him at all right before his hand got chopped off. I dunno, i like all the parts that people have pointed out where it proves he is blind, and can agree with, but there are just other parts that seem like he isnt.
1/19/2010 1:17:27 AM
^it warrants a second sit through just for that haha.As for the hand i do believe his finger touched him but only for an instant before he chopped it off otherwise his 'if you touch me again' warning was a lie because he never even got to touch him a a 2nd time haha. Also when he shoots the arrow at the guys crotch. I'm guessing he went by the sound of his zipper and belt being unbuckled?
1/19/2010 1:25:49 AM
**** Spoilers, I do believe *****Let's bear in mind that the movie has an obviously religious bent. It isn't necessary to explain how a blind guy did all this stuff through "heightened senses" or having been touched by the dude's hand or whatever. It's a movie. They're allowed to claim that an actual deity guided him in these ways.I realize a lot of you think religion is a fantasy. I don't recall many of you snorting after Return of the King, saying, "Pfft, there aren't really orcs."**** End possible spoiler references ****What matters is, in this movie Denzel Washington whipped a bunch of people's asses and delivered a few clever one-liners. Plus Gary Oldman acted like a crazy asshole and Mila Kunis, while not a great actress, wasn't unbelievably awful and was still pretty hot. Don't go to the theater expecting it to change your life or anything, but it was still pretty good.

orcs and elves... are 100% fantasy. I have no problem going into a movie like that and suspending disbelief. They fit into the world created by the writers. Even zombie movies, there's a virus that makes people eat human flesh and hard to kill... OK, just keep playing by that rule. This is intended to be based in our world, a world governed by the things we already know or that could come from the things we already know. And uh.... an invisible force guiding a blind guy to the point that he can sword fight like someone with some serious training (though he has none), hit targets with a pistol from 30yrds away without being able to actually see them, know at which building in town he could get a battery charged, etc... well, that's just as much fantasy as orcs and elves. The problem is it's being presented in the real world.I have no problem with faith, or faith being a focal point in a movie. But this isn't faith, it's divine intervention. You need to believe one of two things to "buy" the story: A) He was blind, and by using his other senses he was able to do all of that stuff OR B) god was guiding him and helping him be the ultimate badass, etc.I can't accept either of those, movie or not. I also can't accept people using gasoline that's 30yrs old - takes away all credibility.
1/19/2010 12:33:55 PM
It was no more based on our world than plenty of sci-fi or fantasy movies.I just have trouble understanding your mindset. It's a story that someone else wrote, and he basically is saying, "In this story there is a God who intervenes in the world," and you're saying, "No, I don't believe in that."Anyway, I guess it's your problem. I just have to imagine it would suck to be the kind of person who hates movies over details of gasoline age.

1/19/2010 2:36:23 PM
I don't think I've EVER seen a movie where EVERY thing is believable and they all could really happen in real life. No, not even the Titanic.
1/19/2010 2:40:24 PM
the point of making something a movie is to exaggerate and amplify events to add more entertainment value.
1/19/2010 2:41:26 PM
There were definitely a few stretches in this, but nothing that killed the movie, especially since it was just an "ok" movie either way. I did enjoy it as pure entertainment though, and didn't have enough "holes" to detract from that. There is certainly some leeway given to movies. Some things can be overlooked, while other movies there were glaring errors that just ruined it for me.A good example of something that I couldn't overlook in a movie was the water vs aliens in Signs. Yes it was an alien movie, but if you are going to set the movie in our world, the entire crux of the movie shouldn't be based on something that totally defies science given the amount of water in our atmosphere and air.
