for ie6 users maybe (if their hardware can even support it). at the moment ie7/8 are only being autoupdated in australia and brazil starting this month, and that policy will roll out to the rest of the world throughout the year[Edited on January 4, 2012 at 9:29 PM. Reason : .]

^^ IE9 only runs on W7, which means XP users get IE8, I guess. IE8 at least doesn't break everything, but it's still on some CSS2.1 shit.]

IE6 is cake to develop for, comparatively.You basically just tell the person asking you to build a site that works in IE6 to go fuck themselves. If they persist, and you actually have to build the site, it's still not that hard to build things for. IE7, however.....
