Didn't see any of that in the speech I watched off of youtube. Sounds like a hack job by yahoo sports.

i see numerous references to it. I haven't bothered to watch the speech, though.

if any of that shit is true, they out to kick Jordan out of the HOF until he apologizes for being a massive douchebag

Anyone can do/say whatever they want, but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences for it.

It seems like he was trying to provide examples of how people said or did things that motivated him to be what he was today, how he took every slight against him and forced himself to work even harder to prove his detractors wrong.

It's easy to see what he was trying to do there, but the execution wasn't right. I didn't watch the speech, but from what I gathered, he was saying something to the effect of like "To the coach that cut me in high school, F--- you, I'm in the hall of fame. To Byron Russell, who said he would have locked me down if I hadn't retired, F--- you, I won a sixth title by shooting a jumpshot over your sorry ass, and I'm in the hall of fame." And yadda yadda yadda.

"Worst of all, he flew his old high school teammate, Leroy Smith, to Springfield for the induction. Remember, Smith was the upperclassman his coach, Pop Herring, kept on varsity over him as a high school sophomore. He waggled to the old coach, “I wanted to make sure you understood: You made a mistake, dude.”"

The Yahoo article is justification for some of the feelings that I've had for the last 6 1/2 years. I don't care if it sounds like conspiracy theoryish, but I'm pretty sure that either Jordan, Swofford, or someone in high places in the ACC offices had something to do with Jordan getting the nod as the best ACC player of the conference's first 50 years even though most people know that Jordan was an average COLLEGE player. As far as I'm concerned, Jordan and the University of No Class fit each other perfectly.

^Even though DT was better...Jordan was much much better than an average college basketball player. Lets not be stupid.

^^^oh snap, then that would make sense as to why he chose david thomson
the theme of the night was him settling scores
and i guess he wanted to show david that he was better than him

wow, im the biggest fan but this was an epic midlife crisis or whatever you call it
but only someone of jordan's stature could pull it off
