I'm sure everyone got this email, but do we have confirmation that it will require no follow through for the party? I have every intention on setting up the site and using coworkers, RL-friends, E-friends and such but I am also terrible at procrastinating so not 100% sure that it will get done.

Quote :
"Congratulations! You are confirmed as a Windows® 7 Launch Party host.

Windows® 7 is about to launch worldwide, but you’ll be receiving a limited Signature Edition of Windows® 7, before the worldwide release date.

Relax, this is a party, not a sales presentation, and you’ll get the most out of it by checking out the Host Help Videos and going to the Windows 7 Launch Party.

Just choose a party theme from Setting Up With Ease, Family Friendly Fun, Media Mania, or PhotoPalooza — you’ll find them fun, full of great Windows® 7 tips, and they will get you well on your way to becoming a Windows® 7 expert. Your guests will appreciate that. You can also watch the videos for all the themes so you can show your guests whatever interest them.

Get into the party spirit and be the first to upload photos and videos, and post comments to PartyTalk™, the House Party blog.

It’s time to invite your guests!

Use the FREE Guest Manager tool on your party site to quickly send invitations via email for the party theme you choose. Then your guests can join your online site when they RSVP.

Also remember to tell your guests to visit your exclusive party site. There will be lots of info to share.
Thanks for hosting a Windows® 7 Launch Party."

I think we're set.

I mean think about it, people tend not even to RSVP until the night before.

They are mailing the packages out on October 10th to give people time to setup.

Key activation pending cooperation as per hidden TOS.

I think you're right though, I definitely considered what MS would have to do to that poor kid who legitimately tried to throw a party until he was stood up by all 10 friends. SORRY DUDE, NO FRIENDS NO SEVEN!

My reading on it was that this was more of a "good faith" kind of thing. i.e., try in good faith to have a party with 10 people, if a bunch no-show, oh well. If you don't even bother sending out invites, and clearly do not attempt in good faith to throw the party, then the hammer comes down.

my email was slightly different:

Quote :
"Congratulations... You are a Windows® 7 Launch Party host!!

Because you were among the first host finalists to set up your party online, you are confirmed as a host and will be receiving a free party package to share with your guests shortly before the party.

Packages will be mailed in time to arrive before your party date. Check your free party site regularly for news on what's in your package, when it's been shipped, and when you can expect it to arrive.

Meanwhile, don't forget to use the free Guest Manager tool to manage your invite list.

Use it to send invitations via email so your guests can join your online site when they RSVP. Don't have their email address? No problem -- use the print option, or just create a name-only record for them so they still appear on your party list.

And while you're online, be sure to check out and upload fun photos and videos, post comments to the national party blog, and look around for other cool features.

Please remember that information you post on the House Party website may be visible to the general public, so we advise you not to post any personally identifying information (such as last name, address, email or phone number). However, the information in your party invitations will only be visible to your guests.

Thank you for hosting a Windows® 7 Launch Party!"

or did you get this one and then that one above later?

^I'm just guessing they'll be removed by the end of the day.

Thanks Microsoft. Again, 2 free copies of their new OS before release date.

Just cracked mine open, and it is indeed everything as described. I've been so skeptical up to this point that I am very pleasantly surprised. Now to get a second hard drive up and running so I can install it.

Just got my package today as well. I was planning to hock it and just grab a copy on one of the torrent networks but I'm thinking I might actually install this mofo since it's the 'signature edition'

i'm 99.99% sure it's the same exact image, just a different case with a "printed" signature on the case, that's the only thing novel about it, limited edition case that's it.

Got mine last week. Are they all the same. I remember when I first signed up it kept telling me to pick my party theme. For the life of me I couldn't find that option on that party planner site.
