So how do we get in the Reach beta? It just told me to go to halo.xbox.com on the leaflet that came with ODST. And on halo.xbox.com it just says ODST will be the key to Reach beta.

My guess is that you will just have to launch the beta from within ODST

Do the marines/ODST's still randomly say the smartass remarks/jokes while you're playing like they used to back in Halo 2/3?
9/23/2009 9:02:53 PM
^not sure yet...because....*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*You play the first mission as a rookie who got separated from the group. Then you play the same mission over again through the squad leader (the guy from firefly and serenity) but from his point of view. He is also separated from the squad. So not much character interaction in the first hour or so of playing. (except through radio communication and the opening cut scene)

can you play through the entire campaign in co-op?that's the only way i can play halo

If you order halo 3 odst through Newegg before 9/30, use the promo code EMCLXNR55 to get $9 off and free shipping.

So Halo3: ODST is just new single player campaign?? Which means it is the same game engine as Halo3 which is pretty much the same game from 2004's Halo2. Halo was fun in the early part of the decade but in modern times it is SOOO overrated.

Firefight's actually pretty fun with friends. I'm enjoying it. Haven't even touched the campaign yet. I like Citadel... Midship is still the same (which is what they intended anyway).. I have yet to play the other new map.

If I want to play FireFight, I think I'll play L4D

since this thread isn't about Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty or Gears of War 2...Firefight is fun in ODST. If you want comparison, I found it much more enjoyable than Gears of War 2's Horde mode, most notably because ODST added elements to build on Firefight's challenges and at least ODST is different from Halo 3 (vs Gears of War 1,2... I've never seen somebody re-package the same game that much and get away with sales).

Just got the vidmaster: endure achievement. 3.5 hours... fuck that was insane

^^ I actually thought Gears 2 had at least some variation from Gears 1, however minimal it might have been. Halo 3, on the other hand, was nothing more to me than a prettied up Halo 2.

What do you guys expect from a trilogy? I mean it's all part of the same story so I would expect everything to be the same. You guys bitched that star wars 1,2,3 were too different than 4,5,6. And now you're bitching that halo 3 was too much like halo 1,2.
9/26/2009 11:08:55 AM
that's really the comparison you just made?
9/26/2009 11:17:58 AM
Halo 3 added Forge and Theatre, and yes prettier graphics... which IMO beats the piss out of the exact same graphics, if you want to compare to Gears 1,2. I played the piss out of the first Gears of War, because it was awesome. Very little changed after that.Speaking of all this, why are several people just trolling this thread without saying a single thing about ODST? It's just annoying and pointless.I started the campaign on co-op last night, seemed like a slow start but I'm hoping it'll pick up soon. Didn't go very far. Firefight's still looking like the sweet spot for me.

anyone want to play firefight online my gamer tag is parsonsb looking for 2 more

ODST would be an amazing value for anyone who hasn't bought (or no longer has) Halo 3 or its map packs, and still wants to play its multiplayer. Firefight is easily more fun than the entirety of Halo 3's campaign (not that there's any surprise there -- H3's campaign is an awful unenjoyable mess), and was surprisingly challenging even on normal difficulty... Then again ODST's campaign isn't really worth playing either, except to unlock Firefight maps/characters (unless you really love terrible pacing and long bouts of exploration through mostly-empty and uninteresting maps... if that's the case, I highly recommend you play ODST's campaign.).
