I used the wrong word, but yeah I guess that's better. At least they'll be able to live out a long life of destitution.

So, if you were State Farm, would you accept someone's house insurance application at the moment their house is on fire?

I somehow don't think you're understanding the point of this exercise.

I appreciate this thread. Sounds like a reasonably good question that sparky asked and Rep Price, as expected from any politician, gave a non-answer.

I love this response. We already pay for the uninsured so we'll keep paying for them and that'll save us money. I realize emergency care is expensive and clogs up the system, but chronic care is as well.

Speaking of clogging up the system, we could be better off with more doctors but the AMA acts as a cartel and limits the number of new doctors in the US every year. Why is no one addressing this issue? They're as greedy and profiteering as the insurance companies.

Unless you're arguing that the government should mandate preventative visits (plenty of people with money and insurance don't go simply because they don't like the doctor) there is no guarantee that this will save money.

And the video posted by Supplanter is as comprehensive a take on health care, economics, and civics as any I heard in the 4th grade.

Well, that is the Democrats key demographic, so what do you expect?

Well I wouldn't go that far, but the world isn't simply a moral dichotomy between evil corporate profiteers and the benevolent government.
