Okay. I'm trying my damnest to get these CV shafts off. I've tried PB blaster, 2 breaker bars, and an electric impact wrench. Needless to say, the car will move, even while in gear and parking brake engaged, and I've YET to get the single 32mm nut off either side.Yes, I am turning the right way. I even checked the replacements to be sure Any other suggestions? I'm thinking I need to take a dremel and just cut the nut off...

its gonna take a lot of impacting. dont give up

I ended up cutting the bolt off. YAY! The CV shafts are now free for R&R!!!NOPE! Damn balljoint pins AND tie rod ends are seized, thus making the steering knuckle removal to complete the removal of the CV shafts impossible. I spent 7 hours on just one side alone today. Fuck it, Mazda service can handle this shit. I'm done.

I don't know anything about your options with the MX3, but is this one of them?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AACd9YZlh5Eif so, BADASSI found it by looking up vids of other people with Electromotive tec3 ECUs

I break the ball joints loose on my civic with the 19mm spare tire iron (came with the car) and a quick kick.Stein's seen't it
10/11/2009 9:44:34 PM
just loosen the nut and beat the shit out of the side of it with a hammer
10/14/2009 8:56:21 AM
We did that... Really, we did. Took a mallet to the bottom pin on the tie rod to no avail. PB blasted it to all hell and back. Still nothing. It really perplexed my buddy and I. The car is 16 years old, yet I have an easier time taking parts out/off the 24 year old 944. What gives? I did read an article that brought up a good point. Even though a nut can be torqued down to 350ft-lbs, over time, it can torque themselves up to 600ft-lbs. Next time I have trouble, I'll just take the car to a truck shop, have them use a 3/4" impact hammer to losen the nut/bolts, and retighten with a 1/2" impact hammer so I can take them off myself when I get back home.

its not the nut, and what you read is retardedly wrong, but i wont get into that now, its the tapered pin that is stuck, and impact is the only way to get it back out
