it is literally unthinkable that jobs should have been created or enabled by the bubbles and subsequently destroyed in their collapse

its actually 16% when you factor in all the people who have left the labor market.

its not hard to see the problem... just look at the states run by liberals.

compare their unemployment/ budget deficits to republican run states.

the government doesnt need to spend money, it needs to slash taxes.

you know, kind of like what bush did in 2001 to pull us out of a recession.

actually the decrease in taxes led to an increase in tax revenue.

california has a semi-republican governor, surrounded by liberals

it's always a great idea to re-inflate an economic bubble that burst with money that doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure that's economics 101.

right, and just like clinton had to become more centrist in 94' because he was surrounded by republicans, arnold has had to move left.

yes. i see a tax increase coupled with an increase in revenue. i then see a 2001 tax decrease that is coupled by a decrease in revenue.

^for comparison

What does this have to do with "liberals"?

Before "evil" Obama, the conservatives supported a stimulus too.

so far obama. he's racing to catch up and exceed.

White House Adds $2 Trillion to Deficit Forecasts - washingtonpost.com

The nation would be forced to borrow more than $9 trillion over the next decade under President Obama's policies, the White House acknowledged late Friday, bringing their long-term budget forecast in line with independent estimates.

So they blow smoke until it passes and then agree with independent estimates. Interesting.

examples of failure?

cash for clunkers (i.e. auto industry bailout): any car that gets 4mpg less than your current vehicle is a clunker. 'recycling' is not rendering a perfectly serviceable vehicle into junk and scrapping it. if you want to give the auto industry a bailout, have the balls to call it that. don't prop up a shitty system by throwing more money at it. the 700k new cars will pale in comparison to the slump in sales that is coming and the layoffs that will result.

healthcare reform: he never read it. he doesn't know what's in it. all he can do is read off a teleprompter. give him a random question and he will fumble it, as he as done in the past. check youtube.

north korea: paid hundreds of millions to get them back. obama funded terrorists. he supports human rights abuses. should have left those morons over there. they intentionally crossed over, they got caught. it shows the world that the U.S. doesn't believe in personal accountability. i love how the news reported that one of the reporters was a mother. well i've got news for ya, don't be a dumbass and then you'll get to go home and see your kid.

shovel ready stimulus projects: don't say something and not go through with it. there are many 'shovel ready' projects out there, but no money to fund them with.

CIA: you really fucked that up.

so far his campaign promises have added up to nothing and he/his administration have hurt more than they have helped.

now look at the graph in regards to 2001. also look at the graph and view what happened following the 90's increase in taxes.

these graphs don't even take into account expenditures, which were remarkably lower per capita during the clinton administration making for a much stronger situation in general.

What does my unemployment status have to do with anything? I worked for global semiconductor company having to compete on labor costs against the SE Asians. You know why that is? Republican free market ideals moved production to cheaper areas. You know what happens in situations like that? It takes time to reallocate labor and production. Oh fuck, what am I thinking, this isn't anything you can comprehend.

Holy fuck, you don't know what you're talking about. U6 is

# U5: U4 + other "marginally attached workers", or "loosely attached workers", or those who "would like" and are able to work, but have not looked for work recently.
# U6: U5 + Part time workers who want to work full time, but cannot due to economic reasons."

If you're going to use the number, get a damn clue first.

No, slashing taxes let the rich keep more of their money while evaporating the surplus Clinton helped to establish. That tax cut was supposed to trickle down to the middle class. The only thing that happened was the middle class shrunk and wages were stagnant. No, the reason we came out of recession was because of the Fed funds rate was kept too low for too long by Alan Greenspan, a libertarian free market republican who has since admitted he had no idea markets wouldn't self police.

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

DAMN LIBERALS

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

DAMN CONSERVATIVES

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

DAMN THIRD PARTY PEOPLE

Let's all just agree on one thing, no matter the side, party, religious affliation or race... whoever we elect as president is going to fuck us in the ass. Government is such a huge boat that changing the captain isn't going to change the course, it take decades to change the course of government.

If you really think our situation would be more than 1-5% different with Mccain, Clinton, Biden, Obama, Rush Limbaugh, Miss. Hilton, Brittany spears or goddamn Barney the dinosaur you are sadly mistaken.

theres a reason republicans didnt support mccain, and its shit like this:

you're a pretty bad representative sample of a conservative, based on this thread, what with all the cussing and fucking bitching

and yet, you're pretty stereotypical in that all you are capable of doing is starting an argument

and, go figure, that argument is about how much (you think) liberals suck!

god forbid you try to actually do something constructive

I worked in finance for an international executive consulting firm until 1.5 weeks ago. I can tell you as that more people are finding jobs on the west coast now at least (especially executive level and higher) than 3 or 4 months previous.

Well, the simple fact is we really can't measure it either way. For all we know, it did in fact avoid another 1-2 million layoffs which was a stated goal of the stimulus.

Do you always eat up what you hear on the conservative radio shows and TV? You simply have no idea about hyperinflation do you?

No, not really:

Hope you are doing well. I got word today that your paperwork had finished processing and you will be receiving a formal offer from our HR department in the near future (if they haven't contacted you already). Please let me know when you receive the offer. If you have any questions at that time, please don't hesitate to contact me."

Just waiting on them to get all the necessary signatures for the new position.
