7/17/2009 11:18:10 PM
Smoking pole?
7/18/2009 1:12:39 PM
The song this band is named after is better than anything by this band.
7/18/2009 1:57:32 PM
I too enjoy shitty bands that only hipsters know about.
7/18/2009 2:33:40 PM
I'm dead serious when I say this. I think Death Cab is one of the most talented and original bands out there right now. I can understand if some metalhead wants to bash them, but I would be baffled if anyone who truly appreciates music would call them terrible after giving a listen to their stuff that's not on the radio. I've got 7,800 songs in my music library from all types of genres and I would easily put several of their songs in my top 100. Go on iTunes and listen to the clips of just a few of these songs with a good pair of headphones:A Movie Script EndingTiny VesselsDeath of An Interior DecoratorExpo '86Your New Twin Sized BedGrapevine FiresWhat Sarah SaidPhotoboothBlacking Out the FrictionLong Division
7/18/2009 7:03:16 PM
7,800 OMGThey're fucking awful. The She & Him record is way better than anything he's put out.

THIS AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND, MANSeriously, though, people can like whatever they want as long as it's not bland, whiny bullshit. ]

7/18/2009 7:48:28 PM
No.I really don't like the Band. In fact, you might say I hate the Band. However, I realize that the Band are pretty fucking great.Death Cab for Cutie is not great.
7/18/2009 7:50:27 PM
i don't give a shit about the Band. i never said Death Cab was great. i enjoy them, but that's probably because i don't know what good music is, right?EDIT: i think we can agree there is a difference between preference and shitty tastes. i think Death Cab falls in the "preference" category instead of "shitty taste" category. Nickelback on the other hand...[Edited on July 18, 2009 at 7:55 PM. Reason : k]
7/18/2009 7:52:33 PM
i hated this band even when i enjoyed whiny shit like Get Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, etcbut even though I don't think I could ever listen to that Postal Service album ever again, it's a pretty great pop record imo
7/18/2009 7:58:19 PM
i actually don't mind this band, they come up on my pandora sometimes. there's certainly a lot worse music on the radio.
7/18/2009 8:03:16 PM
Okay, I'll cede that Death Cab comes nowhere close to the level of garbage reached by bands like Nickelback. The thing about Death Cab is that it's not much different than the kind of lame crap every teenager (myself included) wrote in his bedroom when he was 16, it's just a little more polished. And yes, that Postal Service record is damn good. But Postal Service is not Death Cab.
7/18/2009 8:03:36 PM
i need to get this pandora thing
7/18/2009 8:05:54 PM
i dig on some Postal Service now.
7/18/2009 8:07:39 PM
7/18/2009 8:28:10 PM
he is 100% spot on with his opinion of death cab
7/18/2009 8:52:53 PM
Ah, "The Sound of Settling." A shining example of lyrical metaphor.OH WAIT.
7/18/2009 9:07:23 PM

7/18/2009 9:21:52 PM
I don't think so, he just seems to hate everything that's achieved over a certain level of popularity.
7/18/2009 9:23:47 PM
no, ben gibbard isand yes, i hate everything that's achieved a certain level of popularitythat's why my favorite bands are the beach boys, the pixies, and the clash ]
7/18/2009 9:24:00 PM
You're right, each of those bands have been wildly popular during the time you've been alive.I bet if you'd been alive when the Beach Boys or Clash came out you'd have hated them.
7/18/2009 9:32:00 PM
I saw the Pixies in 2005. The show sold out in two hours.
7/18/2009 9:33:10 PM
i'm starting to get confused here
7/18/2009 9:33:41 PM
Just know that I won't be playing any whiny post-adolescent bullshit tonight.I do have some promo copies of old Dashboard Confessional records for prep-e, though.
7/18/2009 9:34:53 PM
I bet most reunion shows at small venues would sell out pretty quickly.
7/18/2009 9:36:44 PM
Just sayin', shit that ain't popular doesn't sell out at all.
7/18/2009 9:40:29 PM
I'll bet they're one of those bands that performs standing with their legs tightly together.
7/18/2009 9:41:27 PM
