fuck! I haven't played in a year. They basically gave every attacker trample to other blockers of the attacker's choice? That fucking blows.
7/23/2009 1:59:34 PM
Yeah so sad that I play quality cards, that I understand advanced concepts, that I'm able to manipulate my mana to run a 5CC with easeSo sad that I'm rated 1831 on MTGOSo sad that I've finished top 8 five out of the last 6 FNM's, with 2 winsSo sad that I've played AND BEATEN Mark Rosewater and Aaron ForysthSo sad that I've already gotten free invites to the Zendikar prerelease in Octoberso sad indeed
7/23/2009 2:10:45 PM
whoop de fucking dofind another netdeck to win your next FNM yet?most everyone else here has stopped playing seriously, so i doubt any of us give two shits about the metagame right now
7/23/2009 2:45:43 PM
wow, you continue to embarrass yourselfStick to the Starter editions; wouldn't want you tripping up on such foreign concepts as first strike or exalted
7/23/2009 3:03:35 PM
lulz0rztrolling a mtg thread.... a new low
7/23/2009 3:14:24 PM
^agreed ps I heard they are reintroducing flanking
7/23/2009 3:18:29 PM
I would love one of you to get an MTGO account so I could show you a thing or two about magicI would show no mercy
7/23/2009 3:21:48 PM
sorry, i don't have $texas to spend on the new 'deck to beat' of the month
7/23/2009 3:29:40 PM
loluse a lack of funds as an excuse, thats richI take pre-existing concepts and tweak them...The typical Jund Ramp doesn't include Broodmate or Blood Leech but I use to as additional creatures in lieu of spells like Blightning and Violent UltimatumDon't accuse me of 'copying decks' until you've seen me on the battlefield, which doesn't look like its going to happen any time soon
7/23/2009 3:32:24 PM
Tweaks that are necessary for an online metagame or personal play style, but the engine and majority of the deck is in there, making it basically the same thing any other scrub will buy after they see it finished well at Worlds.I will say that your rating isn't that bad, what format is that in? Standard constructed?
7/23/2009 3:52:17 PM
so you're saying you can beat me in a card gamea online card gamewhat's next a e-p33n size contest?
7/23/2009 3:58:29 PM
Yes standard constructed...I'm not at proficient in Limited, tho with the switch from the Lorwyn block in the fall I should have an advantage, since I came in after that block was already established and didn't have the same knowledge base of it as I do with Shards and will with Zendikar[Edited on July 23, 2009 at 4:01 PM. Reason : ^^ yes they do, but three weeks after the live ones...I'll be attending both of course]
7/23/2009 4:01:08 PM
Drop a Mountain. drop a Black Lotus.Tap the Lotus for 3 green. cast “Healing Leaves” to gain 3 life. Use the remaining 2 Green to cast Channel and pay 20 life. Tap the mountain to Blaze through for 20 lethal damage.GAME. OVER. SON

^ Sounds like most of the cards are common though...don't the ebay auctions usually have a set rare percentage?

7/24/2009 8:25:32 AM
Ok, so the MTG Xbox game is fun as hell. Did anyone buy it? How much is it?
7/25/2009 3:09:32 AM
10 bux. fun. finally played some ranked matches and it feels pretty even. most ppl dont quit even if u rail on them early (i won 56 life vs -46 earlier and he still stuck around)

It matters because you'll totally get clowned on by Slave Famous if you're not playing like it's serious business.
7/25/2009 10:41:39 AM
^I'd bet I could probably pick up the t2 deck I last used circa 1999 and break even with it against what the retarded pro tour flavor of the month is now. It's all pretty funny to see how little people understand how far ahead of them the top 5-10 players in the world are, especially with the "I beat X once" comments.
7/25/2009 2:44:20 PM
there is some huge nerdity going on in this thread
7/25/2009 4:18:05 PM
^^I dunno...I've always wondered about that. Once you get to a certain level, all the correct plays are completely obvious and it comes more down to a poker style of play, trying to bluff out your opponent.
7/26/2009 2:48:20 AM
New rules made me lolhttp://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/42aBasically, combat damage no longer uses the stack and there's no mana burn.

All I can do is sit back and chuckle at all the milquetoasts in this thread. Slave Famous is a loser, Slave Famous is an asshole, etc. When in fact, you're the losers, and you're the assholes. You sound like every sucker I've dominated on MTGO in the last 2 years. Let me break it down for you.1. Netdeck...There are a finite number of cards in each set, thus there are a finite number of ways said cards interact with each other. Even fewer good cards and interactions that provide multiple win conditions. These ideal combinations are usually figured out by the time the spoilers are posted, before the new set even comes out. It doesn't take a genius to spot the best cards. Yes, there are always a few great cards that aren't realized until after extensive playtesting, but for the most part, you can tell Bitterblossom is going to pwn, and Woolly Thoctar is probably the most efficient vanilla creature of all time.I work 50 + hours most weeks. I don't have the time for extensive playtesting on my own. When I play, I want to play, not do research. So yeah, I rely on some of the 'experts' to point me in the right direction to making a good deck. So do most other top casual players. Got a problem with that ? Fuck you.2.
7/27/2009 9:08:34 AM
7/27/2009 9:53:22 AM
yeah I haven't taken a shower since June
7/27/2009 10:02:08 AM
wow..i played this game 15 years ago, amazing people are still playing.
7/27/2009 12:26:54 PM
That's the only way you'll silence my roar.
7/27/2009 1:04:15 PM
^^ Same here, and if it wasn't for the Xbox Arcade game I probably would have never given it a second thought
7/27/2009 1:16:54 PM
^That's probably what Wizards is betting on
7/27/2009 1:52:21 PM
So I guess no one is heeding my call ?Typical
7/27/2009 1:59:24 PM
We've already covered why we won't play you on MTGOI mean, you could buy us everything to start up and learn the new cards, get a couple of netdecks to try out, then we could see. You're the big baller right?
7/27/2009 2:15:26 PM
I do alrightIts not like I'm spending my paycheckIts maybe 150 a month
7/27/2009 2:29:46 PM
I didn't realize until just now that "packs" on MTG Online cost just as much as packs in real life. That's hilarious.
7/27/2009 5:49:29 PM
No one buys packs unless you're playing a limited tournament Single cards from places like abu and cardhoarder are the way to go
7/27/2009 5:51:00 PM
Ah, ok. That seems somewhat less cray cray.

^ Have you seen the loops yet when the AI will continually regenerate a creature even though the computer player has suffered game ending damage?lol
7/28/2009 9:33:00 AM
Nah, I haven't seen that. I've seen the computer take several seconds to think and then constantly re-equip the Loxodon Warhammer onto different creatures over and over, just burning out all of its lands, then swinging with a Troll Ascetic into my bigger creatures without enough mana to regenerate it. Also seen it just get frustrated with a stalemate and swing with all of its creatures out of nowhere, effectively ending any chance it had at winning...and swinging with its Verdant Force early instead of creating a massive sap army and just waiting me out.
7/28/2009 10:18:36 AM
hehe, trollhammer UG was one of my favorite decks in 10th standard. Until Reveillark came out. I did fairly well at regionals with a 5C elementals deck abusing championing, reveillark and soulstoke. I went 6-3 if I remember correctly.ahhhhh, memories....
7/28/2009 10:24:32 AM
I just started playing battlegrounds... Fun, but not the same
7/28/2009 11:16:52 AM
Damn if its not aggravating to play online. You have to go 'quick match' or w/e, and then toggle your little light on. I don't think anyone realizes that I did get to rape some person who tried to use the RGB deck though. The black deck is pretty decent if you get a good draw...removal, hand control, invulnerable stall defense (drudge skeletons), annoying permanents with Underworld Dreams and The Rack, and evasion for the win condition.
7/28/2009 10:47:39 PM
pretty sure the black and black/green deck are the two best
7/29/2009 11:37:58 AM
I'll have to give the blue a shot, it looks like it plays really well when the computer uses it. Stall with bounce, counters, and tons of evasion.I haven't seen the green/black do anything worth a damn though. I was playing in a random 3 player multiplayer game last night and it doesn't seem to have any kick to it. Lots of synergy if you get an elf lord out, but that seems to be about it.I've only played with the green and black decks though. I hate that the cards you unlock are such garbageMy tag is Raep Seed on Xbox Live[Edited on July 29, 2009 at 11:56 AM. Reason : lkj]

the black deck seems to be the easiest to win with because enchantments are pretty strong in this game (ive only seen 1 destroy enchantment card in ANY deck). once they are out you can get pretty screwed and there are multiple melgrims, racks, and underworlds. had 0 probs beating computer with it in most games. black/green is a pretty good deck if you have a decent draw because once you get a coat of arms or a few +1/+1 out, you just have too much for them to do anything with. this was the won i won by a 70-80pt hp differential (b/c the guy that heals was bolstered so high with buffs).white deck has issues with creatures. good with few quick fliers, but it seems reliant on sorcery buffs. not enough instants. green is generally fine b/c of rampant growth, but if you dont draw big creatures you just die to fliers every time.
